Get ahold of the book " Hellraisers" which tells tales of those very actors' drunken escapades over their careers. ( except Moon of course) they were unbelievable!!! The book goes on to highlight a few famous actresses with heavy drinking problems. Liz Taylor was 1 of them. U learn new things every day.
The first Musketeer film was cut into two to make two films . He and other actors was only paid for one of the films . Then of course they made the 3rd musketeer film .
How ridiculous that mr. Reeds movie "Devils" from 1971 and a true story that happened in the 1500's , is still banned. There have been copies avail that were hugely cut. I think we are mature enough to see this controversial true story.
There's no reason we shouldn't be able to get an uncensored cut in 2024. The only people who would make a stink are the Catholics and they got nerve after all we have learned what priests are capable of.
I find this so sad. An incredible actor, and when sober, such an articulate conversationalist. But when drunk, he was an awful & objectionable person. Such a waste. We all have faults and I look back with fondness on his work, but I imagine there are lots of folk who endured appalling behavior from him. What a dichotomy.
A person of many layers (as are we all). Two of my friends' Dads have met Ollie and one said Ollie was always pissed in his company and the other of my friend's Dads met Oliver at a party and said Oliver was very polite and kind. Still, a great actor Ollie was and always convincing.
Great actor, greater drinker! Sad end. I went to The Pub in Malta (just before he died) and to his grave in Butte in County Cork in Ireland. Respect to you, Ollie.
Not sure Ollie was an alcoholic. He liked a drink. Do alcoholic’s turn up for work on time and put in a great performance? Not sure they do.but Ollie did. In fact as a film actor he was a consummate professional.
He was the best Bill Sykes... part of what made the movie "Oliver" so enjoyable!👍
Thank you for leaving a comment 😊
He was excellent in this part, as was Robert Newton.
A true Legend of Life was Ollie. Moon, O'Toole, Harris and Burton together, what a Party that would've been.

Amazing the number of actors (and actresses) who were superb in the job became alchoholics...
