    We built ours based on this and it turned out great. Four years later, still doing strong

      Crazy this was 8 years ago but ours is still going strong! I thought I’d have to reskin by now but the plastic is holding up great. Solar window still working great too! Great project and investment . Thanks for watching!

      Kntryhart It's not but, I can't imagine it going anywhere without a tornado coming through. It's so heavy and winds just roll right over it. I just ordered the pumps you suggested on ebay. tiny little suckers. It look a long time to ship but, they look like they will perform nicely. Thanks!

    Great design. I didn't think to overlap the panels or put them on top of the 2"X 8"s like you did. I wish I had seen your modifications before I built mine. I just finished building my texasprepper2 hoop house using his pdf download plans. It is March here in Virginia and the temperature inside is 100 degrees when it gets to 80 outside and I don't have the door or window installed yet. I am interested in knowing where you got the shade cloth. I am hoping that if I install it the temperature will drop down to a reasonable 80 to 90 degrees.

    • @ShawnBauer
      @ShawnBauer  8 років тому

      +eyesalooking Got the shade cloth on Amazon. It will definitely keep it cooler and there are different types that allow less or more light through.

      +Shawn Bauer Thanks. I have Amazon Prime so will check it out. I have a DC fan running from a battery with solar panel to charge on order so that should help some.

    I’m almost done building Texas Preppers version. I like the black tape you used over the plastic staples instead of lumber. What part of PA are you in? We’re in central Maryland. My husband is from East Freedom, PA.

    • @ShawnBauer
      @ShawnBauer  5 років тому

      SBECK TRADITIONS thanks for the comment. That’s not tape. It’s called batten tape (not sticky). It’s stapled over the plastic and holds it in place without tearing... and looks nicer. We are in the Philly suburbs. Thanks for watching!!!

    where did you get it from or how you set it up your automatic temperature control vent ? Did you use regular plastic or used greenhouse cover that comes with 4 year warranty. looks like green cover on top helping plastic stay intact with panels and preventing wind damaged as well.

    • @ShawnBauer
      @ShawnBauer  8 років тому +3

      +Rudra Sharma Here is the link to the vent controlwww.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XI3FLW/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B003XI3FLW&linkCode=as2&tag=gadge05-20&linkId=IYK3GYZDOJECWBLDWasn't hard to setup. 6Mil greenhouse grade plastic was used (should last 5-7 years or longer depending on weather conditions). The plastic is so secure, it would take a tornado to rip it. The Green cover is only in use during the hottest days (maybe 30-45 days of the summer)Hope you build one too... you will love it once it's done!

    Did your cattle panels have flush ends or did you need to trim off the points so you can staple it to the top of the 2x8s?

    • @ShawnBauer
      @ShawnBauer  8 років тому

      +grumbles The cattle panels are flush. No trimming required.

    Do you have a video on how you attached the doors to the hoops. Thats where I am now and having problems seeing how its attached

    • @ShawnBauer
      @ShawnBauer  3 роки тому

      the hoop is stapled to the door frame at the 4 points just like it is with the bottom frame. the left and right mid point about 3 feet up and the two top points. The door frame is also screwed into the bottom frame. The door itself is a separate wood frame that's hinged on.

      @@ShawnBauer you stapled the wood jams to the pvc hoop? I see something black at the top. Isthat what attaches the wood to the hoop?

    How do you deal with pollination? If bees can’t get in

    • @ShawnBauer
      @ShawnBauer  4 роки тому +1

      Well during winter bees aren’t flying around anyway but, once spring hits the window will open automatically and I’ll leave the door open most days and close at night. Plenty of bees and insects get in. Never been an issue for me. Thanks for watching!
