      You might have gotten bad seeds. Radishes are literally one of the easiest and fastest vegetables to grow. Perhaps location or soil quality are a factor as well.
      I often sprinkle throughout my soil beds in-between every else, also do the same with garlic, also in larger potted vegetables or such too. Grows easy and fast. I also let some grow to seed for more radishes.

    Great video, thanks. I do this but use a blend with the nitrogen turned down. I get a lot less vegetation. I usually pick the radish within 21-25 days as it is large enough then. And I don't get anywhere near the mass of roots you get. My roots barely show out the bottom, lol. It is a great way to grow radishes perfectly and quickly - and they taste fine!

    If try this in open to direct sunlight, and if there is loss of nutriants by evaporation can I make up the level of nutriants with water?
    What is the maximum temperature we should maintain for nutriants?

    • @ShawnBauer
      @ShawnBauer  4 роки тому

      Ashrafali Ali you won’t lose nutrients by evaporation. Only water will evaporate. With that said, the enclosed environment should keep evaporation to a minimum. You can add water if needed in the late stages of the plant life without adding more nutrients. I’ve always harvested my radishes before more water is needed. As far as temp, most plants like a cooler temp but that’s hard to control. It depends on the plant but, radishes in this case will bolt (flower) if water temps get to high. Thanks for watching!

      Hi Andrew. Thanks for watching! I’m pretty sure this is a 15 gallon tote. I have other totes that are not as deep. All long as the lid is larger then your seed tray, any size depth would work. I mix up my nutrients in a five gallon bucket at a time. Instructions on the nutrients suggest this. If I have leftover I pour it into my tower system as that’s always looking for a top off.

      you sure could Kevin but, you'll need to space them out more if you want bigger onions. Thanks for watching

      I grow green onions aka scallions in kratky I've been pretty happy with them. I even moved some inside the house this year under my LED lights.
      You can snip off the top and they continue to grow. I am growing a bunching onion given to me under the name of Tokyo negi (a freinds neighbor is from Japan originally and thats all the hand written paper says )
      But I had some Lisbon white bunching onions outside all summer in kratky buckets.
      I haven't tried bulbing onions yet but its on the list for this coming year. Cross your fingers

    It's really funny that people don't eat these delicious green leaves just because they have tiny thrones!

    Isn't the whole point of hydroponics not to use dirt?

      don't have to use dirt. you could buy costly rockwool or hydroponic grow grips. The plant needs to start in something. I just chose to go cheap and use seed starter mix. Thanks for watching!
