The South Park creators said it was so difficult dealing with all the puppets and voice overs in this film, that they would never ever ever make another film with puppets again.
Apparantly Matt Damon was quoted in a interview stating-"I thought it was brilliant! I mean, I never understood it, and then I heard an interview with them and they said the puppet came in looking kind of mentally deficient and they didn’t have time to change it, so they just made me someone who could really only say his own name."

According to Trey Parker and Matt Stone it was apparently excruciatingly difficult making this movie. A simple shot of a puppet turning and walking through a door would take them a dozen takes because of how hard they were to control. I think they said making this movie was the most miserable they'd ever been but it was definitely worth it because the final product is incredible.

This was specifically done in the style of ‘supermation’ perfected by the creator of The Thunderbirds, where they’re marionettes with ventriloquist style heads. The puppeteers were some of the best in the world and while they could do all the intricate movements of real people Matt Stone and Trey Parker had them purposely play up the joke of the characters being puppets having limited mobility. The opening kung fu was done for real during rehearsal.

I feel like my humor taste changes dramatically with time. A lot of comedies I thought were hysterical 10 years ago. Are ok, regardless. No comedy is going to pack the same punch as the first time you see and hear the jokes.

The puppets were 22 inches tall and took 4 people to puppet one at once. The short on Matt Damon's character in the movie is that the puppet came back looking mentally slow, so they just made Matt Damon in the movie appear to have brain damage or not all there by making him say his own name.

Alec Baldwin actually did not have a problem with it, he actually offered to do his own voice, but it was done by voice actor Maurice LaMarche from Animaniacs. You might see comments saying it was Alec Baldwin, it wasn't. Everyone for the most part liked it, except Michael Moore (somewhat), they just don't like him.

And unlike a lot of other comedies than csn get less funny after numerous repeat viewing, Team America always makes me crease. The satire, the physical comedy of the Puppets, to just outright ludicrous little moments like the "suicide hammer" 😂

I remember being so excited to see this movie when my buddy told me about it. It was right around 2004 my junior year of high school and my buddy and I both decided at the same time that we were just going to get our GED and go to college a year early so we were hanging out everyday once we stopped going to school so we could study for our classes and register and his dad bought him this DVD burner for his birthday and Blockbuster was on its last legs so they were doing a $20 a month membership where you could rent two DVDs at a time all included in the monthly price. So allegedly he would rent to and burn them over a few hours and then take them back and rent to more and burn them and so on so forth and 04-05 we watch so many amazing movies. Shaun of the Dead team America wedding Crashers yadda yadda. I was just so disappointed by this movie when I first saw it but then I watched it a couple more times and realized that it's fucking brilliant. They film it just like a real Hollywood action movie with crazy exaggerated explosions and personalities and the political shit is just brilliant they make fun of everyone. And one of my favorite parts of this movie and it's so basic and most people don't even react to it in these videos is when the guy is in the Jeep and he says this cheapest filled with explosives were going to take their lives and our own. We're... we're gonna wut...
It's so just dry basic humor but I was crying when he said that. This is one of my favorite movies to watch people react to
