Trivia note: The very 1st footage screened to Paramount executives was the opening scene of the film with the poorly constructed puppet being controlled by the more detailed puppet. 1 of the executives said "Oh God, they (Parker & Stone) f*****d us!" by essentially trolling the executives the quality of the puppets & set design for the film.

I think he's also on record as having been open to voice himself - and the entire reason for the "MATT. DAMON" thing is that the puppet looked so horrendous that they just rolled with it.

Lots of people still slur the words "Matt Damon" every time he's in any video, especially when you're with a group of people. A couple of us were talking about Thor Ragnarok a few months ago and I slurred "Matt Damon". Everyone laughed and repeated it. Once you see that movie, you can never unhear his name.

No, they called Kanye a gay fish because he said he likes “fish dicks.” It’s a play on words. “Do you like fish dicks,” sounds like “do you like fish sticks?” Kanye kept saying yes, so they kept saying, “You’re a gay fish” because he kept falling for it. 😂

When cinematographer and "South Park" fan Bill Pope (Best known for "The Matrix') heard that Mat and Trey were looking for an action movie cinematographer for "Team America," he offered to do it. When Matt and Trey found out who he was, they apologetically told him "You don't have to sully your career with out little film" but he said "No, I want to sully my career." He later commented on how astute Matt and Trey were at picking up on and mimicking the classic tropes of successful action movies.

We were the only ones in the theater except for an old couple. 5 minutes into the movie the old couple walked out because it was too much for them. My friend and I were laughing hysterically the entire movie. To this day it's still one of the funniest movies I've ever seen in theaters. I work with people who still quote this movie as well because there are just so many great parts. What a damn fun movie this is.

You also need to see their movie "Baseketball." It's hillarious. They had to make "Baseketball" for the studio BEFORE they were able to get the green-light for this movie. The thing about South Park is they PURPOSELY keep the animation looking like it's construction paper animation, even though years ago they bought some top of the line, high quality animation equipment.

Back then , people used to joke and say fish d-s instead of fish sticks. So South Park used it in the episode with Ye just to make fun. The voice actor for him said he liked Fish sticks and they kept sayin fish d--s and that where gay fish came from. Ye actually got mad about it. In a song called Gorgeous , he says “ choke a South Park writer with a fish stick”

The real Kim Jong Il loves movies so much that he tried directing a few himself, but even with everybody kissing up to him, he could tell they weren't any good, so he kidnapped South Korean director Shin Sang-ok and Shin's wife actress Choi Eun-hee and forced Shin to teach him how to make movies. That is comic book super villain crazy. Shin and Choi eventually manage to escape safely to South Korea.

Some perspective. The creators of south park made the first few episodes as stop motion with construction paper, and ever since it took off they've kept that animation style, but moved it to digital obviously, but they make them the week of to stay current so the animation doesn't need to be good, the writing and the way they tackle society make it all worth while. It's one of the best things ever created.

The story about the "unrated" scene goes as follows. When the movie was submitted to the MPAA for a rating, they didn't like the puppet sex scene, and gave the movie an NC-17 rating, which is basically a death sentence for movies because typically movie theaters refuse to show NC-17 movies. So they had to fix what they didn't like and resubmit the film. Instead of fixing it, though, they reshot the scene, and made it absurdly graphic, and disgusting, and resubmitted it. Needless to say, the MPAA approved the original scene and gave the movie an R rating.

South park and jackass are the only two shows that are consistently good. You can't say you're American if you've never seen South park

As a (South) Korean, it was the best film.
At the same time, I was able to understand what American black comedy was.
Nuclear boy Kim Jong-un should watch this movie and become aware of the consequences if he threatens world peace.
    Fxxxing North Korea.
    Nice reaction!

South Park was built on a low budget dream of snarky sarcasm and construction paper. If you can't look past appearances to appreciate a great show for what it is then you're just missing out. When Comedy Central was formed they suffered from a distinct lack of original programming, and South Park was one of the shows that helped carve their identity. But in owing to that, the contract Matt and Trey signed led to a crazy harsh production turnaround for the show. They make each episode in just under a week, which is why the aesthetic of the show has never really evolved beyond the construction paper animation. A large emphasis is placed on the writing, but they still certainly do make way for some innovative visuals and gags when they are able. They'd likely disown you for comparing them to Family Guy.
And the joke with Kanye was:
    "Do you like fish sticks?"
    "Yes."
"You put fish sticks in your mouth?"
    "Yes."
"You're a gay fish." The joke being that "fish sticks" sounds just like you're saying fish dicks. It's a joke that gets invented by two of the characters and becomes one of the most repeated jokes in America loved by everyone for how funny it is, except Kanye West, who is incapable of understanding the joke as being a joke and just thinks everyone is calling him a gay fish for real. All of that aside, the episode is actually about narcissism and self-importance, which was the true butt of the joke against Kanye as he goes on a tirade in the episode promoting his self-importance and why he is in fact not a gay fish. This was also way before Kanye started having his public meltdowns like we see him now, so one thing you can definitely say about Matt and Trey, they are insanely good at reading people for who they are.

Thanks. Fucking wonderful, I just blasted my computer monitor with soda.
Alec Baldwin and Matt Damon loved it.
Sean Penn wrote Matt and Trey a nasty letter. Some actors were quite pissed.

As much as I really like this movie - when I think of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's political commentary, the one thing that always comes to mind is that line from an xkcd comic: "The important thing is that you've found a way to feel superior to both".

OH my GOD, at 26:08, when you say "What? was it that?" they said "QAPLA", which is KLINGON for VICTORY, from star trek. now idea how I missed that when I saw this.

The Kanye "Gayfish" joke was because 'fish sticks' sounds VERY similar to 'fish dicks'. They play on it pretty heavily in the actual SP episode :)
