I'm glad these streams are a thing, it just lets me know that I'm not the only person with these issues of not being able to do something because I'm scared it's to complicated or if I'm not good enough to do it. Very big motivator and I cannot thank you more for making this content.
So I came to this video through algorithms but had to click because I had been working on trying to make a scale model of my boyfriends motorcycle as a birthday gift, one from scratch out of various materials, and I've been in a rut for a good bit because like you said in the beginning the details make you feel so overwhelmed. Not a 3D model but I was sure I could find something here that'll make it click in my brain because I think it's gonna be relatable, see y'all in almost 4 hours. Excited to learn about modeling along the way!
Not that I don't love the other boys at Corridor but it was your energy and drive that inspired me to finally get into vfx after being the student and learning for so long, afraid of failure. Thanks man for your work 🙏🏽💙
more people should watch him, after 25 mins you already learned more then a lot of the average Blender tutorial people are teaching you. currently at a vfx University and its extremely important to do a good blocking out, im really happy that he mentions it. It's worth knowing that the jump from modelling to photorealism is TINY. Certain shapes in 3d are definitely a pain, and I still have to google tutorials on certain ways to do things, but once you can make a basic model, you can immediately make that photoreal. I highly recommend a substance painter workflow, so model in your program of choice (really doesn't matter, my fav is maya) chuck it in substance painter, have a play around with the physically based materials (at it's most basic level it's drag and drop!) then export textures, throw it into blender (I use blender for rendering/layout) its a couple clicks to get the mesh in and textured, and load a HDRI for lighting an render. That first result when you render out a model with physically based textures and a HDRI map for light is honestly a mindblowing moment. Really not that hard to get started :)
@@just_doug Definitely. Once modelling becomes proficient, it becomes easy to transfer to photoreal. Especially with PBR materials which basically does the rest of the work for you! Might want some subsurf depending on what you're doing, but beyond that you're basically golden
Clint, because of you and your friends at Corridor, I became interested in 3d, but at 38 years old I feel like I'm too old to enter the industry. Do you have any tips to reverse aging?
I work in 3d, people don't really pay attention to your age, education, etc. They only pay attention to your reel, what you can show with your work. There are a ton of remote jobs you can do from anywhere, you don't have to move your family to work in 3d. To get started in 3d you don't even need anything expensive, one of the most widely used 3d software, blender, is absolutely free, even for commercial use. Tons of other 3d software like Unity, Unreal Engine, are all free for people who just want to experiment and have fun. The only tip I can give you to reverse aging is to just start doing things you are interested in, and focus on getting work later. Just enjoy the process. That is the way youngins work as well.
Bah, I'm 38 and while I'm in a different industry (software development), I wouldn't worry about it. If you're doing it for fun, it doesn't matter, and if not, it still doesn't. I've always had the attitude of I can do whatever I want if I work hard enough at it.
Andrew Kramer is a true wizard. Best I can tell, Clint is just pretty average (and there’s nothing wrong with that). I genuinely don’t understand how he has so many subscribers, but good for him.
Could you go over your Tablet setup? I still use my mouse for clicking and painting, and only use my tablet for drawing. Do you map the whole thing to your screen? How do you handle your two screen setup? Maybe one of your quick tutorials? Thanks.
Yea because you totally can fully model and detail a motorcycle in about 2 hours. In order to "finish" it, it'd probably take in excess of 10 hours, if you decide to texture, even longer.
blender, mid cpu (ryzen 5 or equiv), decent gpu (1070 or equiv) pirating works too if you dont want to stick with free dont get into it to make money from nft, because you wont

Clint, thank you for sharing and doing what you do. I've enjoyed watching you on Corridor and glad to be following you and your passion here as well. I always wanted to go into game/graphic design, but ended up in aerospace engineering (we're the same breed) using CATIA and CAD software. I passionately dream of doing the stuff you and your peers do, would love to be sitting at a company like Blizzard or a VSX studio, but must live vicariously through people like you haha. I want to start dabbling something something free like blender, to maybe do some on the side art posting to instagram, anyways, thanks for all your sharing, wish you the best.

Hey Clint... i didn't want to message you on discord cause who does that. so ill ask you this here, Ive been having some trouble learning how to make rag-dolls in c4d as there's not very much information that's understandable for someone like me who's only been doing this for like a year so i think that making a ragdoll simulation would be a cool subject for a livestream. thanks for your content its very easy to understand and i learn a lot form you keep up the good work.
The problem with Ragdolls in all major 3D programs is the setup. You might get a ragdoll working, but you'll always start with a neutral T-Pose and there is no way to pose it properly and have it blend from an animation into ragdoll. I tried in all major Programs and its a pain in the butt and can get problematic very fast. And I am not a noob. You need a proper Crowd simulation tool or Houdini, or a realtime engine. It's much easier to do in Unreal Engine than it is in C4d or Blender or Maya even.
It is a fairly basic level. Do not watch the entire direct. But the result is pretty bad. I think that with the same amount of polygon, you can get to something more defined.
