I know we are approaching the end of the TOOL journey, but stay calm as cookies and cream because there's other music to get into. I'll be doing some requests at my own pace, but I'm also just gonna do whatever the fuck I feel like and I doubt you're gonna like half of it, but it's my channel so fuck you! Just kidding, I love you, but seriously, shit is about to get strange, cringe, weird, experimental, sometimes even extremely conventionally pop, sometimes super awesome, and just about everything in between.
We appreciate you taking the Tool journey, and bringing us along with you :) Looking forward to see what else you dive into.

"as long as it continues to evolve..." This song (to me) feels like the evolution of Tool's entire discography rolled up in one song. In the first section, Maynard's style sounds like opiate/undertow, then Aenima, etc... all the way to Fear Inoculum. It's 16 minutes of musical bliss.... JFC I love Tool....😆

Agreed, that is pretty much my take on it. So much familiarity, but just slightly different. This song is like a Tool encyclopedia.

One of the GREAT things about never studying music is that you can listen to Tool and just appreciate the musicality - FULL STOP. Lucky to be alive in the time of Tool :)
Adam Jones is so underrated it’s sick. It’s nice to see him let loose the few times it was needed by a song. He usually plays to compliment the vocals and other instruments so he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. He also killed it on Deseeding. Well he kills it in all songs like Hooker with a Penis and 46 &2. He’s no Dave Mustaine or Eddie Van Halen but you will not find another guitarist that sounds like Adam Jones, maybe only Tom Morello but you do find shredders and riffs like Mustaine and Eddie. Just my humble opinion
funny because tom grew up with adam haha! but i totally agree adams sound is just on a different level.
This whole Tool album was like, Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey with special guest Maynard.
@@jordang7717 well i think maynard did his fair share on this album, i absolutely love that man! coming from a singer i know this album must of been hard to record at the time due to his vocals being at an all time low but he managed to pull some great stuff off in this album imo. But now that he has improved on his voice so much in 2019 and started practicing with a coach again i think once he and everyone else clears up from covid will be able to knock off one more amazing album with some even crazier vocals next time, i just know they can and that they will knockout one more album before hanging it up, fear incoulum was just a 13 year test!
@@lelandbradford51 I hope Tool releases one more album. And I agree with you, Maynard will always be one of the most recognizable and amazingly unique voices in music. Compared to all the other albums, Maynard seemed to explicitly make it so he was more in the background than the rest. He really doesn’t sing that much on this album in comparison to the other releases. But that is what adds to Fear Inoculum being such a dense, ferocious and awesome album.
He's what i call a tone guitarist. Steph carpenter of deftones too. Sonic atmosphere and songs above flashy crap.

Also definitely do react to 'The Witness' by Adam Jones Ft Justin and Danny (basically Tool without Maynard). It was made to introduce his Signature Guitar and is the last work from 'Tool' we have until now.

I find it very interesting that you caught that vocal interplay he did with the lyrics. It took me a few times through to be able to sing along with him. So amazing. 🖤🎧
The low rhythm guitar is actually the bass. Justin uses distortion with an EQ that makes it sound like a guitar often.
That's actually a separate track that he is speaking of, you can still hear Justin in the mix with the dirty tone that he basically uses throughout the song. Adam plays the rhythm track separately (and Joe Barresi pan's it to the forefront so that it pops) and then Adam's solo is overdubbed into the mix. They do the same live with PA's placed to the mid-crowd mark, so that it almost sounds like surround sound. It's amazing.
I don't know that A perfect circle warrants the entire discography exploration, but for sure "Mer de Noms" is an epic album with many different sounds that will take you on a journey. I believe that album took the span of about 10 years to write from what I read, and you can definitely tell him how well composed and sort of epic and climactic the songs are.

I think you should definitely check out Lucid Planet's discography. Super underrated band and as a Tool fan I know you'll enjoy their music.

The beat that puts you off is in an 8th i think, and it goes 1 2 1 1 3 (the tempest must be just that). It gives most people a hard time because they cant headbang to it, but once u get the hang of it its rather relaxing
so here we are at 2.35am saturday morning in Oz and finally watching you hear Tempest for the first time :) Fuck the 7, its a Tempest..... with many 7 within it.
I usually watch these on wednesdays, but i didn't, kept putting it off, didnt know why.... kind heard 7empest enough for this year rah rah rah.... now had a few beers and several tokes and I am like 'now I know why I put it off.... for the weekend baby!!!!'

Yeah, I kind of get that it feels like the music is being inflicted upon you. They squeezed every last drop of goodness out of the themes/rhythms in this one. Must have felt amazing jamming it out for the first time in the studio, and that guitar tone *chef's kiss*

Well, I watched the entire Tool reaction thingy. I think it’s really cool you did this and in all reasonability, I couldn’t have hoped for a more appreciative reaction. It was pretty awesome seeing you really connect and start to see why we in the Tool army are so apeshit about this band lol. Thanks man.
One really fucking cool thing about the one interlude song in this album, "Litanie Contre Le Peur" is that you can play it at the beginning of every main song on the album (The ones over 10 minutes, Fear Inoculum, Pneuma, Invincible, Descending, Culling Voices) it will actually sync REALLY well. The only song that still works just not as well is "Invincible" itself, although I guess that kind of makes sense. It's kinda like how if you play the song "Faaip De Oiad" (The really weird alien ufo guy freaking out from Lateralus) at the the same time as "Lost Key's (Blame Hoffman)" it will also sync perfectly. Like it's fucking spooky, the ranting ends with the sound of a radio dying out at the EXACT moment the protagonist hears the nurse's voice, almost like that was the sound going on in his head and her voice brings him back to some form of lucidity. There's tons of crazy synchronization involved in the music of this band, one of the reasons I love it so much. So much thinking is put into their craft that it's honestly insane.
Litanie Contre Le Peur is also a mirror image. It has the same melody when played backwards or forwards.

Hey Florida, this is definitely the best track on this album, but I'm partial to their huge tracks, like third eye, Rosetta, reflection, wings....the last few minutes of 7empest feels so final like the last bend of tools long discography journey !

What's amazing to me about TOOL is how reliant they are on each other. To me you can't visualize Danny without Justin, Justin without Adam, etc.... these 4 human beings were born to be TOOL, and I'm glad to be alive during it and watch it unfold.

Also when they won the Grammy for this song, Danny mentioned how he had hope for the human race again knowing people had the attention span for a song this long still.
