Mould 69: What is inside this Vintage Pottery Mould?

  • This is the series where I reveal what is inside these pottery moulds I found on Gumtree.
To check out the Mouldy Bisquits DIY Pottery Painting kits head to
    www.mouldybisquits.com.au
The story goes, I found a listing on gumtree for pottery stuff. When I arrived the seller said 'I have all these pottery moulds would you like them as well?' and I said 'why not'. On the way home, I had the brain child to do a social media video series revealing what each mould is.
The mystery is in the fact that I had no idea what I had said yes to, some of the moulds are labelled and easy to tell but some of them are a little more difficult. The beauty is that all of the plaster moulds surprise you no matter the presentation of labels, titles or identifiable surface inside.
So come join me as I dive into this series and share the mould fun. I would love to hear any information you may have on the moulds and to let me know any stories you have that the moulds remind you of in the comments.
Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!
    Heaps of love,
    Shelby

You could collab with someone who does macrame and turn them into hanging succulent pots?

Could also be done with wire and metal rings.

You could still make these into hanging plant pots as well! Instead of making a hole in the bottom, you can carefully place 3/4 holes around the edges and put string through them so you can hang them up! I think that would look absolutely lovely as well.
They look amazing as they are meant to be as well though, I love the addition of the flower garlands and that almost picnic cloth patterns is so cute!

You can make refillable birdfeeders out of them. Just melt lard, stir sunflower seeds in and fill that mix into the bells . Then hang thenm up in trees or bushes. Titmouses and other small birds will love this. Or keep this for next Christmas and gild them or paint them with holly and mistletoe. Would make a great present.

Thank you my dear for keeping a G rated channel. No need to apologize for that, numbers are just numbers. Your bell garlands and trip the the flower farm gave me a needed lift. The soft chime of the bells is very peaceful. Cheers 💜

Love this week reveal!! Where I'm from (Córdoba, Spain) there's a popular open air dance and it is a tradition to buy kids bells like the ones from the mould to paint them with acrylics. This week's reveal has brought sooo many good memories!!

I’m in Canada and there’s still snow everywhere. I REALLY enjoy seeing all of the flowers and greenery and sunshine etc.
It’s not relevant to pottery but just wanted to share that it’s definitely a mood booster watching your videos.

I love them! My first thought was that they would be great for making pretty earwig hotels. You take a flower pot, put it on a stick upside down and stuff it with straw or dried plants. Earwigs eat aphids and other small garden pests, so popping some homes for them in your garden is a great way to keep your flowers and veggies safe. Most people use simple clay pots, but these would look so much prettier, especially between flowers 😊

@shelbysherritt I think your adorable talking about the adult theme molds ....very sweet...
I will mention that you might try to flatten the bottom of the bell so it sits upright and flipped and could be used as a planter

When I think of your beautiful videos, I think of sunshine and joy. You seem so full of these two things that I always feel better after watching you create. Your goodness is medicine, miss.
I am a poet, not a potter. But I wish you could know the good things you do by sharing these delightful videos. Even the poet can't do what you do. It's magic.
This video is special to me because it brought back memories of my mother. She collected bells. She had a cabinet filled with them. She loved them . Now she passed 10 years ago, and when I heard these bells tinkling I thought she was near.
    Bless you.

I am just so inspired by your creativity. The flowers dried by themselves did not spark anything for me but when you threaded them up like that in the garland really turned it all around for me. Even the bells in the beginning were that way but as usual in the end I'm in love with your creations. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us.

Another idea (maybe depending on the size of the bells) would be to hang the large bell then the smaller bell right below it - almost inside it a little bit. Ideally a third size would be perfect. But I LOVE what you did with them! You make me want to move to Australia! ❤️❤️

I've seen one artist use a car dent puller for dipping his mugs. I know you're using tongs for this bell shape and prefer your fingers for other pieces, but I thought I'd pass it along. I'm sure you've already seen it. Thanks for the video, Shelby. It's always great to hear about your processes. I still think about the time you spoke about imposter syndrome and the video where you mentioned good art days and art days when you struggle through the process. Have a great day 💕

Honestly, I'd still use them for succulents. I have little glass cups in a similar bell shape that are for small candles. They sit in a little metal circle that's connected to a longer metal piece that stakes into the ground (so you can decorate your yard for evening outdoor events, or even use citronella candles to rid the area of bugs). As long as you find (or make) something to hold it around the flared end, you'll be good. Maybe some macreme or something. I didn't notice your nasal issues, but you have my condolences. My allergies have been going WILD lately.

  • @jamifitz

I loved how you painted them Shelby!! I just thought they were meant to be hung differently. I assumed the larger one would be at the top then the smaller one closely below it. I was thinking using the same kind of material you used but with only an inch or two between the larger and smaller one. The addition of the flowers is really cool though .. I guess if I were doing it I would hang the flowers maybe from the very top of the rope to the top of the first larger one then not in between the two bell moulds and then maybe a little at the very end of the rope just to continue with the look. Idk, I guess thats whats unique about each of us and how we would all do things differently. Imo thats what makes our ideas all beautiful in our own way :) 💕
