Let me learn y'all a thing about CLOTHESPINS real quick. Clothespins are invaluable on film sets, they're the best thing for clamping screens and gels (mesh and colored filters, respectively) to lights. The legend goes that one day, ages ago, a film crew presented a budget to their producers with clothespins listed at a small, but not insignificant, fraction of the budget. The producers, not understanding their utility and thinking people were trying to do their laundry on set, denied the budget allocation for clothespins. So the crew members got creative, replacing the term "Clothespins" with "C-47s," which was glanced over as it was thought to be a technical piece of film equipment. Thus, clothespins are referred to generally as C-47's on set.
Side note, this story has a few iterations, but I was part of a senior thesis film that was titled "The C-47s" so this was the story I heard while working on that set, though the film itself had little to do with clothespins at all lol

#33 Recall also the scene in which the Bridgekeeper and any who fail his questions get flung magically into the chasm. To (as it were) jumpstart this effect, each actor crouched way low for a head & shoulders portrait shot. He could then deliver the line "I don't know that!" and propel himself up and off camera.
Another silly trick they used: toward the end, Arthur gives up on shouting back at the Frenchmen and he storms off. Cut to next shot, in which he's waded almost all the way across the moat. Only thing about that is YOU CAN'T WADE ACROSS THE MOAT! It's too deep. All he did was wade in from the bank to start the shot, then trudge back out in character.
I had no idea those coconuts weren't really horses, though.

    63. Not only was the fake snow in the poppy scene of _The Wizard of Oz_ made from pure asbestos chrysotile fibers, so was the Scarecrow's costume and the Wicked Witch of the West's broom.
The silver paint that was applied to the Tin Man contained aluminum powder which the original actor for the role (Buddy Ebsen, who later played Jed Clampett in _The Beverly Hillbillies)_ was severely allergic to, causing him to be hospitalized. That's why the role went to Jack Haley. But Ebsen's singing is still in some of the songs in the film since the parts he sung before being hospitalized were never re-recorded.
And the studio kept poor Judy Garland hopped up on adrenaline shots to keep her up during the day, Seconal to help her sleep at night, fed a constant diet of coffee, chicken soup, and cigarettes, and mercilessly corseted to make her more childlike in her costume.

Lion’s with personality will always trump a cartoon human. Anyone who thought differently was not thinking like their target audience. The closest thing to a human I liked as a main character in a cartoon was inspector gadget. He looked human but really wasn’t entirely human. I assume he’s part robot due to his “gadget arms and legs”.
