WOW!!!! I feel I could reproduce the famous "Lily Was Here" (Candy Dulfer)!! As a former tenor saxophone player in the 80s (yap!) for a school project , this is to most realistic and great sounding VST sax I've ever heard!! I can hear the warmth, the expression...I tried other tenor sax from other company but they where missing that realism. And again, at a very affordable price for composers like me who don't have big budget. Great work again Soundpaint team :)
Thank you for the amazing engine and instruments that Sound Paint keeps releasing! And thank you for such great informative videos. These go beyond just showing how to play a certain VST or tweak the knobs. The history behind these instruments is an eye opener and your passion for music what you do is infectious! SP has become my regular and amongst the few instruments I keep using every day.
Thanks Noiz. We learn a lot in the process of making the instruments and it’s fascinating to see the evolution of them - how the whole puzzle (of art, history and engineering) sorta connects.
Wow the sound is very very very good and impressive. The only problem is im not a fan of Saxophone :) It reminds me only music for Sexy lovely scens 😛😛😛😛😛But you convinced me to buy again another library :) Well done Mr Wizard of sound :)
Hello! With some imagination and creativity I think it could be interesting to use this in some kind of "chill" music, deep house/tropical music, that is what I will try with great sounding sax :)
Really awesome! I love the sax/synth hybrid at the end of the video! For me the icing on the cake would be a little longer decay time in the legato transitions. I appreciate dynamic x fades aren’t as realistic but I’d love for the notes to last a little longer. Fantastic job as always though. Thanks.
The Rack > Legato Module features a couple of sliders that may be helpful. Legato Speed controls the length/tightness of the legato interval and Legato Volume controls the specific volume of the transition.
Please, Please Please release your program in MPE format so that it can be played without compromise on a Roli Seabord 2. Instead of modifying with left hand only, you can modify with each finger. That Advance would match the HAL technology.
I've watched this video and the 1999 soprano sax Moonlight video and the HAL launch video and have downloaded Soundpaint 2.0 but can NOT find either saxophone! Hope it becomes available soon. Can not wait to play these instruments.
Congratulations Troels for another amazing instrument! I wonder if the previous soundpaint instruments will have also legato (specially for the lovely Bazantar :)
We will be issuing H.A.L upgrades to some previous SP instruments, however the problem recording legato for Bazantar is the resonators, which get in the way of recording natural intervals. We may have another solution coming. We want it too, but not easy!
Great instrument and the usual competent and musical demonstration. One statement I can't support though: at 6:47 you are stating that one must use modification keys to trigger the legato. Try out Mr. Trumpet (from as far back as 2012 I believe - at least that's when I bought it) - it has seamless legato (without the need for any key triggers) and fantastic dynamic and expressive range! Just FWIW - and keep on bringing better and better sounds into this platform. I'm quite impressed!
It's very good. There are more versalite (oops, but won't edit) alternatives available, like the Audiomodeling saxes, but they cost a LOT more (like 6 times more). Soundpaint deserves to corner this part of the market.
I forgot who it was (SWAM, maybe?) that was demostrating legato and the distance between consecutive solo notes played. When notes are close together, a smoothe legato slur (portamento / glide) is experienced. Beyond that short range, a longer slur let's say up a whole octave, will not be portamenta/glide and smooth glide up in pitch, but will actually trigger individual chromatically scaled notes with lower velcoties which imitates exactly what a sax or flute or even horn player would have to do in that particular performance. And this effect is automaically controled by an a.i. circuit in the software which recognizes this change in real time. Troells can figure this out for SoundPaint. I have faith in him. It would be a nice addtion to HAL.
Rethinking what I said: there is an exception. remember that crazy clarinet solo in Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" where the clarinet slurs up 2 whole octaves? Incredibly hard to do on a clarinet. So I gues it would be good to have that option to slur (portamento) AND chromatically climb leaps from distant notes. Why not? Again, Troells.
Absolutely amazing timbre and convincing legato. Can't wait to grab it. PS. I wonder how sax legato will sound on. say, Jupiter 8 lead synth (and will this feature available at all).
Just to clarify: HAL legato (not sax legato) will be available on the Sound Paint engine, as I assume it will be, and it should sound fabulous with JP8 samples / patches.

Troels, I must say I've acquired a lot of respect for your hard work which is pioneering work. I have purchased some od thousand from you. But as a hardcore cinematic user with Kontakt, I run into the problem the higher pitch violin samples produce more volume than their lower bass counterparts. I would love to see Soundpaint address this issue in a Soundpaint orchestral library, but well on you, you are proceeding in the right direction Gary in Madrid Spain
I know EXACTLY what you mean. Its almost like we talk equal temperment for pitch, but we also need to discuss equal temperment for dynamics. Its a complex challenge, since the ears perceive higher notes differently (as higher) then lower notes. But I think its entirely within the realm of our current technology - to offer a standardization of this. So strings and other really dynamic instruments would be more dynamically tuned like a piano - or even a synth which is more static across the board. Static in a good / controllable way. Excellent suggestion. Cheers, Troels
Thanks Federico. The answer is YES (next month). We will be issuing a massive update in May, which contains this (keyswitch) feature and many other additions to the engine! Stay tuned - we are ALMOST there!

Okay, just bought this, and I love it. I've watched a number of videos, but I have a specific question, if anyone can help me out... Is there any quick way to switch from the modulation wheel CC1 to CC2? I'd simply like to use my breath controller which outputs CC2 to control what the mod wheel defaults to controlling. Have not stumbled on a way to do that, yet. Am I going to have to do it in Logic Pro?
I'm going to post the same question. The 1999 Soprano Sax Moonlight is also supposed to be released today November 17th!!! I can't find it and want it so badly.

One of the shorts he played the bari sax and it sounded awesome. Want to do a midi re-record of Tower of Power’s “Squibcakes”.
I want that Tenor "Spectralius" Sax, baby! I have at least 6 other solo sax libraries, and IMHO, Embertone's "Sensual Sax" has the most usable features for playing like Pink Floyd soaring sax solos with lots of key velocity and mod wheel triggered articulations, not just sustainy orchestral stuff (there are tons of boring ones, even free). With Sensual Sax, all you have to do is play your heart out and not be bothered with lots of key switches or chopping your solos up into chunks and reassembling them in your DAW tracks. I have high hopes for Sound Paint's "Spectralius" Tenor Sax. I hope like the rest of SP libraries, it will be way too good to be offered so ridiculously inexpensive. If Spectralius performance meets my needs, I'll probably pick up the 1999 Soprano as well, just to have it in my arsenal.
I wanted to mention, speaking of saxes, in a whole other realm is SWAM non-sample based modelling synth. Absolutely the finest sounding, most authentic with tons of velocity and mod wheel articulations SOLO instruments, especially the saxes and flutes (also outrageously expensive). IMHO, though, SWAM is only good for soloing. In ensemble patches and simple polyphonics, the voices blended together sound like a circus caliope. All the deifinition is lost. THIS IS WHERE SOUNDPAINT'S HAL REALLY SHINES - WITH HAL, EVERY NOTE PLAYED HAS ITS OWN CHARACTER, SUSTAIN, VIBRATO, AND LEGATO BEHAVIOR, INDEPENDENT OF THE OTHER VOICES. this is exacly how a group of people would play together. For example, play a four note chord on any horn patch on any sample player. Add modulation (vibrato) and all four voices "modulate" together like clones. They all "vibrate" exacly the same. No four people could play that way together, therefore, you might as well have played the chord on a cheap synth or organ, because that's what it sounds like. End of rant...

Depending on your controller keyboard, some allow you to reassign midi control numbers for sustain pedal, expression pedal, mod wheel and pitch wheel. For instance, since I am a 2 handed player, I have changed my volume pedal from volume (CC7) to control the "expression" or dynamics which used to be my mod wheel (CC11). So now my volume pedal and mod wheel both output CC11. I can now morph between sounds easily with my foot in Sounpaint, or like in Spitfire, I can morph beautifully from choir ooohs to aaahhhs without taking my hands off the keyboard. I amost never use my pitch bend wheel for anything other than lead synth solos (very rare). Pitch bend sounds really weird to my ears on anything else, especially acoustic instruments. I wish I could physically change it to another smooth controller (not spring loaded); a totally "assignable" wheel. What I really wish for (since I'm wishing for things) is the old ribbon controller (pitch bend) like Moog used to put on the Moog Micro and I think the Moog Sattelite. I would like to see breath control, a vertical ribbon pitch bend controller for synth soloing, a horizontal ribbon for natural violin style vibrato or pitch bend, at least 2 "mod" wheels, a 360 degree pan-mod-morph joystick, 4 sliders and 4 buttons all placed on the left side of future controller keyboards. All of these controllers of course, would be fully programmable and assignable and info saved as (sys-ex data) patches along with other MIDI data during and after a recording session in a DAW. Also, it could exist as a tidy little box as a stand alone / add-on to existing MIDI keybards. I would create myslef and sell these if I only had the means.
Splendid! Will the AKAI EWI 4000s be supported in any way as a control input via MIDI - or would it even work "out of the box" with Soundpaint and some CC configuration?
Troels.. can you control when the vibrato starts? As a wind player, I can control when and how much vibrato I apply according to the style of music and my mood and can it be set to a cc parameter?
The samples have natural (player) vibrato, but we have many different styles of vibrato. One of the cool things in Soundpaint is you can modulate time. So if you associate our Rack > Time module to your modwheel - you can control the speed of the vibrato, which is probably the closest we will get for now in terms of your request. Works surprisingly well IMO. Cheers, T

Nice but when wıll I get the ınstruments I bought? I paid for 5 different instruments 11 hours ago and I STİLL don't have them in my account. Customer service hasn't responded to either of the 2 tickets I've submitted. What's going on with you guys? This is a really poor first impression for your company.
Really? The instruments normally go out the second they are purchased. We have LiveChat on our website and we are 24/7 on Discord. Ping us at support@soundpaint.com and refer to this message if you haven't already been helped. We are normally handling all support in real-time.
