@@McVilla1N ❤️❤️❤️❤️ if you liked this one, check out my more recent (and updated) black Templars video! I just wanna share this hobby that I love with everyone I can!
Glad you liked it! This list has granted me a lot of victories this edition. It’s pretty well rounded for just about anything you might go up against. 3x20 PCS?! You’re a true crusader of the God-Emperor, brother 🫡
The only thing stopping me from taking Big E's Champion is that he does not have Fight First. If he did then I think he would be an autotake just like Grimaldus and Helbrecht.
The Emperor’s Champion should be charging out of a Land Raider with a squad of Sword Brethren and deleting whatever they touch, therefore, not having Fights First doesn’t matter.
Just started getting into black Templars, so really loved this breakdown! Its a big army list you made, so If you would build a generic 2k point list for tournaments and such, what would that look like ?
I’m glad you liked it! I did make some mistakes though that some commenters and myself pointed out, but it’s generally pretty sound. I’m not sure. I assume it would depend on what sort of style you want to play and how meta you’d like to get, but if you’re looking for something balanced then maybe be sure to have some PCS, a dreadnought or two, a castellan and maybe EC or Helbrecht, along with some ranged shooters to cover your melee boys. Could be the place to start, but keep in mind the strengths and weaknesses of your opponent too. I don’t really play comp, as I don’t enjoy the scene. If you wanna explore a chaos army, I just made a Thousand Sons video as well! Glad I helped here and I hope I can keep helping!
Made a 2K list. 10 man Sword Bro with Hellbrecht. Feel free to add an LT or Castellan for the lethal hits, or use the strat to give the unit the lethals. A 20man crusader squad, assumedly with Grimaldus. 2 Redemptors with plasmas, feel free to take 1 and 1 of the off hand weapons. Then a few more squads- 2 5man assault ints with a character (tho with the points bumps to helbrecht, grim and the dreads maybe drop one of them. A 5man term squad with captain leading, a 5man sternguard squad with a character too. You can switch things up a little bit too. Reworked the earlier list and dumped the termis for jumpers and their cap, intercessors with a techmarine to keep the dreads up a lil longer.
My only complaint about the high marshal is is toughness score of a 4. I wish it were a little higher since he is the high marshal of the black templars after all
They’re not too bad. 95 points for 3 meltas isn’t a bad deal, and ‘total obliteration’ ability to get full re-rolls on monsters and vehicles works wonders against a monster mash Tyranid list or Ork Dredds. I tend to play them somewhat defensively. I’ll get them onto a point and just plop them down, similar to heavy intercessors. Even if they don’t do much with their limited attacks, they can still take some punishment with a T 6. Limited range (I think it’s 18”) with the meltas also makes them a solid choice for lighting up anything big and stompy coming to a point, just be sure to give them some support as well.
Great video. I agree Helbrecht is great, I just don't like his model. But the Emperor's Champion and Grimaldus are top tier rule of cool for me. Primaris Crusader and Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs along with a Brutalis dreadnought are the core of my BT lists.
Oh man, I wish I could reply with a pic of my Grimaldus. One of my best I’ve ever painted. I will say though, moving all his dudes around with him can get annoying. I’m repainting EC right now. He’s my favorite unit on my Templar list.
@@star.hammer Yeah I agree, the servitors look cool but they just seem so out of place running around with Grimaldus. Not to mention them taking up slots in transports. Though having said that, I did have a servitors little attack kill a guardsman once so there is that. 🤣
May i suggest you keep up an image of the unit youre describing, while describing it. Also tag the runtime bar with the units where youre describing them. Love your descriptions, but its a lot of work following you
@@DeathHotA it really depends on how you wanna run them, but you can never go wrong starting with a combat patrol box. That’ll at least get you enough points for a combat patrol game. Personally, I’d have a character or two, some solid battle line units, and a couple specialty ones. So just off the top of my head: Marshal and Emperor’s Champion Intercessor squad (for sticky obj) 2x primaris crusader squads Black Templars impulsor Brutalis Dreadnought (super deadly with your melee buffs) Primaris sword bros. This will get you just at 1005 points and leans heavily into the melee-focus while also letting you sweep the field without worrying about staying on an objective (hence the intercessors) and provides good character units and a little bit of range and fast transport. Personally I like to run my lists a little more balanced between ranged and melee and there’s a million and one different ways to do that. I pretty much exclusively run Righteous Crusader for the melee buffs, but be sure to build your list to the strengths of your preferred detachment. By balanced, I also mean making sure you have units that compliment one another. A good combo is a hell blaster or infernus squad behind a wall of bladeguard vets. The ranged guys soften up an incoming target (with infernus you don’t have to even roll to hit on overwatch) and the bgv finishes them off in melee. Once that block is cleared. March them both up the field. Combo units like that can really help turn the tide. Also, there’s a more updated and better version of this I put out a while ago. Go check that out too!
@@MrMulligan84 been thinking of doing a units tier list. Eradicators aren’t half bad, though not my favorite unit to throw on a Templars list. I’ve got like 3 squads of them but I rarely use them. Check out my latest Templar video!

Knights are pretty hit and miss, generally speaking, but I don’t recommend putting them in any serious list. They’re a lot of fun, but that’s 400+ points that could be better spent elsewhere on units with more utility.
Some useful information about Black Templars list building, but I was disappointed by several inaccuracies: - BT Repulsor Exercutioner is 235 points, not 240; and no mention of its 6 transport capacity, enabling it to transport 5 Sword Brethren or 5 (Firstborn) Crusaders + a character. - No Land Raider can transport 20 models in 10e; the basic Land Raider transports 12 models, the LR Redeemer transports 14, and the LR Crusader transports 16. - They’re Sword Brethren, not Sword Brothers; their Vow-Sworn Bladesman ability adds +1 Attack or DAMAGE, not Strength; also, their ability enhances attached characters too! - Sternguard Veterans cannot be led by an Apothecary Biologis because they aren’t Gravis models; a Lieutenant or Castellan will give the squad Lethal Hits instead.
I made an amendment on the sterns, but thanks for the feedback. However, first born/primaris are no longer a thing. And sword bros/sword brethren seems kinda nitpicky. Just need to proofread my stuff better!
Sword brethren get plus one attack or damage, not strength. Powerful combo - 10 sword brother, helbrecht for critical hits on 5, add a lt or castellan for lethal hits on 5s plus Tbones for 5+ FNP, put them in a land raider. It is 700 points but will murder everything. plus sword brethren give helbrecht +1 damage or strength. So Helbrecht gets 6, hitting on 2, auto wounding on hits of 5+ strength 8, 4 damage attacks. your list comes out to just under 4000 points, what does your 2k list look like?
Oh hey, you’re right! My b! Hmm. I think it really depends on who I’m going up against. My usual suspects are Orks, Nids, or death guard. Recently been playing against Tau. That does sound like a super lethal combo! I’ve just recently gotten the land raider so I’m still playing around with it, but it’s quickly become a must-have for just about any list I’m running. The impulsor would be my pick for smaller games.
