    It's really easy! And I more or less went in blind.... but I also have been watercolor painting for a few years now... O i wish I had watched a video on this, before i tried priming my first marine.
    Now.... this is a different type of painting, omg it's so much easier lol (kinda). You can make mistakes!!! I'm quite pride of my first marine... despite that I lost his gun at work, so he's just a handless, marine standing in battle like "oh shit my guns gone!" Since I lost the gun, I was like "well, lets try putting some weird edge marks, highlights.... idk what i was doing. Except I was doing like all the different techniques... I just didn't... know what I was doing. Dry brushing, just seemed like a good idea.
    My biggest issue...is too much paint or too little (for the base, and me using too making brush strokes and it's obvious you can see them. But I'm really surprised how it turned out. BUT RED DOESNT COME IN THE STARTER KIT! (and neither does it come in the Tyrind one, thinking of making his eyes purple lol.
    I just have a ton of different type of brushes from the past, but I think he's right, gets some ""cheaper ones", but there's one special brush I got, that has a very long and thin point.

    I'm teetering on the brink of attempting to paint a miniature for the first time since my teenage years. This is really useful, thanks. It's not everyday I hear such a perfect example of a Wexford accent on the internet either ;)

    I am a disabled Vet. I used to have great close up vision. Now I am legally blind. It's very difficult tyo paint Marines now because I cannot see that close. What do you recommend?

      Sorry to hear that man but it's great to see you still trying to paint! I think contrast paints could be a massive help, a white undercoat and use contrast paints for you base colours and maybe let some shade paints fill out smaller parts. Drybrushing would also work great, let the brush pick out the smaller edges. Keep me posted how you get on 👍

    You have no idea how much this helped.
    I find it so hard to not overlap when I’m painting the details, mainly the recess shading I feel I make far more mistakes than most.
    Could you do a video on how you’d paint white ? For instance if you were to do the white scars? So many conflicting ‘how to’ guides out there and I’m just wondering what’s best

      Glad to hear it helped man! I actually have an Apothecary video in the works that hopefully shows an easy way to painting white. Should be out next week!

    Help

    • @SpungeHammer
      @SpungeHammer  6 місяців тому +1

      Oh man thats a big model for your first ultramarine! Just take your time with it, know what paints your going to use before starting, after each step take a look and see if anything needs to be touched up before moving on to the next part, thin your paints and add some lahmian medium to your shades and contrast paints. Hope this video helps man and keep me updated on how you get on!

      @@SpungeHammer Honestly that is literally my first WH40k model and i got it from my birthday. Painting for the first it was not bad, I finished on his armour like 92%, the 8 is where i can not reach but it was pretty good and I am very proud of myself because I have learnt how to paint for like a week and took another week to paint😂. The 2 things left are the sword and his face!(I'm not willing to paint the base, too much for me)
