Nice review but need to factor that for the McLaren you ideally need to get the proper quick release for €100. That makes the Moza better value as it comes with a solid QR included.
@@wallstreetomegazoe2963not mine, never even once. People act like they’re swapping out wheels mid race as fast as they can. I was never bothered unscrewing a plastic knob for 10 seconds to switch over a wheel. 🤷🏻
@@lukefisher8417I just replaced two QR1 lites with QR1. Using the 8nm DD Pro base. It was a night/day difference. For me, it was less about the swapping out the wheels quickly (I use the included safety screw). It was about the flex reduction, the QR lite getting loose during a session, and needing to reapply electrical tape to the base shaft for a tight fit. The QR lite shouldn’t be used on any base over 5nm. They are straight garbage.
Ordered the fanatec bundle with the Mclaren GT3 wheel. Then changed my mind and went for the Moza GS GT v2 wheel bundle. The GS GT wheel is even better than the KS wheel.. more buttons and dials. Comparing it to the Mclaren GT3 wheel i certainly did make the right choice. Also as people have mentioned, the quick release on the Moza is SOLID and no need to spend extra money on a better one. I too noticed the weight difference between the Moza and Fanatec, was suprised how light the Fanatec was. Thanks for your review
You sold me on the KS! I was debating between the KS and spending extra on the GS v2.... but I was on all Fanatec gear prior to switching to Moza R16. The McLaren GT3 was always plenty for my iRacing needs so the KS is in that same boat. An extra couple encoders won't make a difference for me, and I use VR so there's no way I'm splurging on a wheel that has a display built in either... wouldn't have minded the KS being 280mm like the FSR but 300mm is fine. I switched to Moza because after roughly 2 years my entire Fanatec rig was failing. CSW v2.5 wheelbase, v3 inverted pedals, shifter, handbrake, all of it... and I was tired of constantly having to open things up and try to get them working again.
You can get the ps5 dd & using the McLaren will let you use it on Xbox too I read. That would cover all 3 systems using fanatec ps5 dd with McLaren, Do you have the quick release upgrade for McLaren?
I've been wanting to move to Moza after owning Fanatec for years, but the lack of PS5 support is a deal breaker since I like to do casual racing now and then with friends on GT7.
Wish those prices were applied in my country, Fanatec and Moza doubles or triples the prices other countries have :(. The McLaren costs the equivalent of 420 euros.
Really want to get into Direct drive been using the Logitech g29 For years now but just wish there was better console compatibility for PS5 as the Moza has really caught my eye recently
Yeah, was the same for ages. Really wanted to get into the Moza system but went with the Fanatec 8nm DD Pro a few months ago as I play a lot of PS5 (GT7).
Same here. As a PS5 owner, and probably wont be buying/building a pc anytime soon, I am saving my $ to get Fanatec. Also, getting an official PS support chip, that would make Moza to increase the price for the wheel base. I saw the dongle/hub($120ish) that someone sell to connect moza to ps5. But I was not impressed. And we'll never know if Sony will block/ban that
@@aior0s some really good points. I do have a decent PC but the ease of use with PS5 means it hardly gets a look in. Although I will be playing some BeamNG this weekend. I went a bit mad on my PayPal credit in Feb, got the Fanatec and the Titan GT Omega Cockpit. all paid off now though.

@@AnthonyAE86IRL Hi. I personally went from pad to the DD. I had been using (I believe) a Trustmaster T300 and a Playseat Evolution that my brother had set up at his. I have both, and as much as MOZA has a lot things going for it, McLaren is just ergonomically perfect for me. KS has the strange crossover on bottom where plastic is thicker than rubber and sticks into your hand after a while and it is distracting. Also shifters are a bit close to grips so if you have monkey grip of sausage fingers you might pinch them. So if you can manage to use those red switches as BB on McLaren and get a QR2 or at least QR1, it is just legend. You are not realy looking at the wheel while driving, especially in VR.
The price is way too different, since you need more than just a wheel :) The Fanatec Ready 2 race bundle with the GT3 wheel for me was $610 delivered to my door. While the Moza R5 wheelbase, pedals + wheel is $1050. Almost double the price
Well, but you have to (ought to?) kinda spend 100 eur for a quick release adapter if you want to not bin it after 6-7 months. So honestly, they are the same price. For example, if you go for the dd 5 nm you do need the clubsport wheel-side quick release adapter for longivity. Not saying it makes it worse, but the arguement about price difference is pointless if there is a "hidden" cost on top of the wheel cost. Also, there are different sales etc and sometimes the moza r5 was cheaper, but ultimately this video is about just the wheel which includes the wheel and the quick release.
@@Mordrede100 The QR1 Lite broken from what ive seen seems to be a user error (well maybe not user...). In the manual when I got the wheel, I could not find anywhere how many Nm the bolts should have. In the installation video on youtube it said 1Nm, luckily I have a torque wrench for these small torques, since I have a carbon bike and know its very important to use the right torque on these things otherwise they will crack. Fanatec does not say the QR1 lite is carbon-fibre inforced plastic, just "fiberinforced plastic". The problem if you dont have a torque wrench is that 1Nm is a very small torque that you hardly have to use even your fingers muscles to reach. If you overtighten the QR1 lite (which is very easy) you have a problem in a few months. If Fanatec took this (more) seriously, they should include a torque wrench for 1Nm in the wheel. But I guess the problem for them is too small, and its cheaper to just send new qr1 lites to people.
@@AndrewTSq Well you seem right about it, I don't personally own it, but my friend received his fanatec kit with dd 5 nm and mclaren v2 wheel with og QR, and it makes the whole shaft+kit as wobbly as the logitech 923 or whatever similar he said he has.
