Look at how much these vatos loved, respected and cherished their women. Not just their ladies either, these men were representing the epitome of modern masculinity. Soft enough for a special girl, strong enough to face the world.

I remember when Mexican born people had a prejudice towards Chicanos.I grew up in a strict Mexican household, and my mom told me not to associate with THOSE type of people. They were a bad influence and would only corrupt me.I thank God that I'm hard headed. I fell head over heels for Cholo. We've been married for 28 years with two beautiful girls and granddaughter. The moral of the story, don't judge a person by the way they look, you might miss the love of your life.
Yeah I know what you mean A Chicano is known as being a penche pocho to someone from Mexico I know I was called a pinche pocho They say that out of being envious
It ain’t like the old days, back in the day I would believe vatos would be steady on only one woman that gave em that feeling of “she’s the one carnal” and they would dress up nice and drive up to their homes to take em out on a cruise. In my point of view it wasn’t about the money nor appearance, just like in the oldies music it was all about love, soul and memories
Bruh this song makes me cry every time do you know how much it would be to me just to be born in the 60s or 70s I would just love to live that Chicano life style back then I would die for it...just wanna go back to orange cove with the family.....god damn so much I’m missing
Back then (late 50s-late 60s) homies / gangsters were “Vatos y Pachucos, later Cholos”. The guys always had the clothes sharply pressed and creased with their Pendleton’s draped over their fore arms and the girls were called “Rucas” with their teased up hair sprayed hair and tight short skirts. I still remember those thighs. I remember riding my bike from La Medina Projects in East LA on Sunday nights to go look at the low rider car clubs cruising Whittier Blvd in East LA, Later we moved to Santa Ana and it was downtown 4th street where all the low riders would gather and cruise on Sunday night when all the old downtown stores were closed. In the 7th grade a white guy named Roger but everyone called him “Fish” (his face looked like a fish) that was all pachuco started F Troop originally there were a half dozen jr. high school kids (67’-68’ Santa Ana) Shit the music was great! Today blacks are credited for the “homie gangster” thing, but it was the Mexicans in east LA and Pacoima that were the original “homie gangsters” back then blacks had not even ventured there
I feel it but the black panthers were active during the 1960s. So basically we both started completely different movements, the Latinos a bit earlier, as a way to show our pride in our heritage and to help better our community despite the oppression as well as to create our own culture as Latino Americans and African Americans . I personally think Latinos and blacks are totally bad ass and we have always been there for each other as each group has fought for our own identity in white America. Love and positive vibes to all my Latino brothers and sisters ❤️❤️❤️❤️
