I grew up in Los Angeles during the DO-WOP era during the 50s and early 60s in the southeast side of LA in the FLORENCE neighborhood. I'm 77 years old now, and Oh how those songs bring back memories. the Pachucos as they were known then adopted the DO-WOP music as their own so much so that whenever I hear them, I still consider it PACHUCO music. I"m African American and me and my brothers grew up there and many of my family members married among the Chicanos. In those days there wasn't hardly any tension between the black and brown gangs. The neighborhood we lived in was in FLORENCIA territory between Alameda and Central Ave.

Yea cuz those times the prison gangs weren’t bringing that race stuff onto the streets, that’s why you’ll see black or brown gangs that are considered or were considered “racist” having a black or brown members in their hood

BETO !!! many years ago me and my 5 brothers lived in Lancaster and met a man named that Gilberto but would go by Beto he always took care of all the kids in the area and showed all kinds of cool things he learned when he became a ranger and fought in the desert storm. He truly became a mentor and provided a safe escape for all of us. I never forgot him or his tattoos and the stories he used to tell all of us about his days before he left for the war. I instantly recognized him and light complexion! He is the man nealing down in the middle from Clover.I will treasure this picture and show it to my brothers thank you.

These old school pictures always fascinate me. I grew up in the Central Valley (born in '76) and hardly anyone dressed like this. I mean, there were lil cholillos but nothing like some of the pictures in this video. Like Jared Levinson told Cruzito, "You, uh, make them look so noble. So, uh...fuerte." If you know, tu sabes.

Love these jams still as today in my life but to be honest haven't listened to much old school music lately but my Heart lead me to this it is all coming back really reminds me of a very good close love, friend of mine Isaac Gonzales April 5 1970-2013 who had passed 11 years ago in 2013 I was 25 years old God just had to lead him in a better place wich I truly deeply believe I honestly truefuly faithful gracefully do well I pretty sure those who truly believe within there Hearts and souls and believe that there is a Holy God and he is alive as of now in this generation of this world that we as humans live life well at least we May all try are very best shoot I'm not going to wright to much I just get my main point in a message it's like when someone mets a stranger in a time of life when they least expect and then it's a matter of time and you all of a sudden lose contact or that person doesn't come back at the time you first met then it's like what then lol it could mean that person got locked up at the time especially you know how they are I'm not saying anything in a bad way by the way or being disrespectful or trying to make anything up but years later I ended up living down two blocks from him he say me one day walking to the corner store lol that was in 2011 so we didn't have much longer to spend with each other but he never left me nor did God they are and will always be with in my Heart ❤️ until the lord Jesus decides to take me one final day in my life today in reality my friend Isaac did show up that day of night on his memorial service I really saw my friend in my room that very night my mom was in the room with me he came right next to me in the bed I tired to wake my mom up but she didn't even move nor wake up didn't even feel me shaking her to wake up so yup thought I should sure that God bless you all ❤️😇💯 love always your family your friend Heather Marie Aka cricket ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@christinevillanueva54 Respectfully, Soul Music has nothing to do with “La Raza” culture though, it’s specifically derived from Black American culture, traditions and history and is sacred to us as a people. And “Soul” is more than the music genre to us. You wouldn’t understand, but it seems like a lot of people here are claiming this as “Mexican music” when it’s not. At all.

Let me say this, us Latinos, we stick together. We are all brown, just like the color of the soil of our beautiful earth. From the lightest shade of brown to the dark skin morenos ! Our ancestors lived together for thousands of years before our land was taken and divided, back then there were no borders or lines. Soy salvadoreño pero we all share the same struggles. Back in Maryland in the 90s, around the area of silverspring, this was how the OGs used to dress. Bien firme. Very active and was crazy in the 90s. But now we can look back and take the good and worst things from it and learn. The cops used to profile you if you if you wore this type of clothing. And people would look down on you if you were Latino. RIP all the homeboys and homegirls that didnt have the 2nd chance of making it out. Pero, in all and all, todos somos iguales. Brown and proud. 🤎✊🏽🇸🇻🇲🇽🇬🇹🇭🇳🇳🇮🇨🇷 🇵🇪🇦🇷…
