great videos! I'd only add that once you've created your new custom layout and if you want that to be the default one every time you turn on the fm9 do this: On the FM9, open the “Devices” page of the FC Controllers/Onboard Switches menu under SETUP. Use the A knob to select the desired Device. Use the NAV buttons and VALUE wheel to set the desired Default Layout.
Just got my FM9 a few days ago. Your video series have been so, so helpful. Thanks for making these. My original plan is to incorporate the FM9 with my Synergy preamps, taking the replace of the MIDI controller (Morningstar MC8), the pile of time-based effects in the loop (TriceraChorus, MicroPitch, DD-500 and RV-500) and possibly even a boost or modulation out front if I do four cable. I'm hoping one of your later videos will cover MIDI as well 4CM. Cheers!
Love these videos, Rosh! Thank you for making all of them ^_^ Say, would it be possible for you to add Episodes 4 & 5 of FM9 Basics to your playlist? I like sending this out to new users, & having it all in one place makes everything easier. Thanks!
@@RoshRoslin Awesome! (I think I remember seeing that in the 20s on the Ax3 playlist too, might be worth a double-check). Looking forward to more of these as they come out!
these are great videos! wondering...the lights surrounding the switches....can those be fully off when the fx is off (as opposed to just being less bright)?
This is a great intro, would love it if you did a few more on layout. Very deep. And I don't understand in the custom layout why when you go to page 2 there are only 3 programable buttons. Seems odd.
Rosh, thanks for the videos. Very helpful. One question, I setup custom layout 8 for my needs, but can't seem to get the unit to boot back up to that layout. Can you tell me how to set Layout 8 to be the default? Thanks!!
This is very cool, thanks! Question: is it possible for different layouts to be assigned to different presets - i.e., layouts automatically change with preset selections - or is the selected layout global across all presets once selected? I’m waiting on my FM9 to arrive.
I appreciate this tutorial, as I have multiple drives and reverbs to use on my presets, depending on the scene being used. I would really like to reach out for a 1:1 session to help finish my FM9T rig before gigging out. How would I contact you? Thanks!
Great video Rosh. Thanks. Question if i can please. Can you take your custom layout and put it in a library and use it for every preset you make? I'm thinking you'd need access to the tuner, tap tempo and bank up and down at all times. Then the other switches could be your scenes in that preset.
You can save a copy of other layouts on your computer. You just go to the FC layouts menu and hit export and you have the option to export individual layouts or all of them. If you want to make specific layouts for specific presets, I would recommend using per-preset-layout functions. Then you can keep the tap tempo/bank functions as a global thing while only adjusting specific switches for tap tempo layouts.
Great vid Rosh. Question, On creating custom layout, can you use multiple factory scenes from muliple presets to create your own custom preset? Example, Use scene 1 an 2 from the 65 bassman, scene 2 and 5 from say the Plexi 100 and maybe a scene from a clean modulated preset All put together in your own custom preset layout? Finally, does the fm9 have the ability to have separate library for custom shows; Cover band set list, Tribute band set list etc?
It seems like with FW 8.0.0 Layout 8 is no longer empty but set to SETS-SONGS. Is there no space to create custom layouts anymore without clearing out a factory layout?
You can only have 8 layouts total, but you can use per preset layouts so you don't overwrite the factory layouts. You can always take a backup of the layouts so you don't lose them if you'd like. But, personally I haven't worked with a single client who uses all 8 layouts.
Yeah. I’m getting the feeling building my own per preset layout is the only way to go. The factory layouts are fine for checking out the factory presets but pretty useless for actual performance. Headrush kicks Fractal’s butt here. They make it so much easier to set these up. Granted the Fractal sounds better
How to build a live setup, from left to right footswitches where 1 is Fender Clean etc, 2 is Clean Lead say Vox, 3 is Crunchy rhythm ...Marshall or 4 is Hot lead Victory eg. Can I mix and match within one layout? So far I just tap dance but am getting into this box. Thanks Rosh. I'll watch your other setup videos.
Is it possible to use the custom layout only for your custom presets? I want the default presets to keep their layouts. Some default presets have 6 scenes. If I assign only 4 scene switches for scenes and the other 5 for effects I cannot access all the scenes.

Love this series. Thank you. Doing some pre-purchase homework
Awesome!
Thank you! Great vids for us old guys too.
Thanks Ekim!
thanks Rosh.

You can set the ring brightness in the FC menu. Just set it to 0% for the off state
Awesome!!
Thanks!

I think you're looking views, not layouts.

In FC edit, you'll find a parameter that says "startup layout" Adjust that to layout 8.
Thank you!!

yes, you'll want to use the per preset override feature
@@RoshRoslin - I figured it out. But thanks again 🤙🏽

I actually cover this in FM9 Basics episode 5. I would watch that. I go over exactly what you're asking :)
video was great.but if you had it setup like in the video how would you go to the next preset?not useing fm9 edit?
You can use the value know to turn the next preset, or use the MLM and access a different layout to scroll through presets
Thank you so much! Is there a way to keep the effect on when changing scenes? So they don’t turn off when changing?
Enable "scene ignore" on the effect.
Hi! I cant access master layout by holding 2 right footswitches can you help me? Thank you!
Hi Josh. Waiting on my fm9. I was wondering with a custom layout with all the switches used. How do you change to another preset or bank?
Cheers
I usually use the MLM feature and set that to have a preset up and down in there.
just added myself to the waitlist. how long have you been waiting? thanks!

I'm seeing a "Hold" option....could you have scenes 5 - 8 hidden under the 1 - 4 scenes and activated by holding the button down?
Yes!

Yes, you can do this. I go into this in another tutorial video building a basic all in one preset
So used to the AX8 layout for live use. Can I make it kind of the same on the FM9?
Yes, absolutely. Each button can be assigned to do any function.

You should use "per preset layouts". This will be a custom layout that only lives on your personal presets. Everything else will be factory defaults
@@RoshRoslin Thank you!
hello, i accidentally deleted the factory layouts, how can i back to the factory configuration? thank you very much
in the Setup/utilities menu, there is an option to go back to factory layouts
thanks a lot, i will try @@RoshRoslin
can you add multiple effects to a single switch?
Yes, you can use scenes or use a control switch to turn on and off multiple effects
INSPIRING 💪😍. Do not get left behind = P R O M O S M!!!
