  • After six years of using ‪@GoPro‬ HERO action cameras to create most of my UA-cam channel content, I took the plunge and invested in purchasing the ‪@CanonUSA‬ EOS R8 mirrorless full-frame camera. This is a huge investment compared to purchasing a GoPro. The cost of a single, inexpensive Canon RF lens can buy a decent GoPro HERO11 kit from Costco. In this video, I was eager to see how the Canon R8 compared to the GoPro HERO10 and just happened to have the day off from work so I headed to a nearby park to pit them against one another. Let me know in the comments what you think. Personally, I think the GoPro HERO10 does a really good job given how much less it costs compared to the Canon R8. However, I do wish to learn using a "proper" camera and look forward to seeing how the Canon R8 works out. I plan to watch many more videos and might even purchase a beginner's tutorial from ‪@froknowsphoto‬

You always have good content, so I hope the improvement is worth the price.

I appreciate your kind feedback and I hope I can put this new camera to good use soon...Murphy's Law mandates other priorities outside of UA-cam just as I get ready to try something new here...typical 🤣

@@WorksIRL I think that, sometimes, you just have to hit record when you’re starting your “priority” task. You can always edit the heck out of the video, but those videos can really do well on UA-cam.

@@DiligentDave1966 You're so right, brother! 💪I'm going through one of those "more than usual" time-squeezes wrestling with fitting in work (day job) and keeping home life "happy" and "UA-cam time" seems to be suffering. Hopefully I'll get back on the horse here soon enough...thanks for the encouragement 👍

Seriously, though, I'm at the stage where a lot of my future content is probably going to be DIY projects. Most of the tool testing was just to figure out what was going to suit me best for my projects, and within my budget.
We shall see how that affects my success.

I preferred the GoPro in both the walking and sit down portion of your video. Maybe once you get everything dialed in the R8 will be better, but I think you could save that money and keep using the action cam if you wanted to.

It is certainly hard to beat the versatility of the GoPro. However for archival sake you'll probably end up happier with having catalogued your work in higher quality with the Canon. #PureMichiganBrother!
