    I have tons of Arowanas and a trick I use to to make sure they don't get their Drop I use is that I put a few Ping Pong (table tennis) Balls on top of the water and let it float around so their always constantly looking up. Try it and it'll work. Haven't had a drop eye for 5-6 years and up to 20-25 Arowanas

    Hey Joey, next time consider two things. 1. When the arowana is waking up and you are not done, use the syringe to run clove oil water through the gills and keep her sedated. 2. When placing the fish back in the water, I like to move them forward and backwards to have that new water run through the gills and get the clove oil water out of the system. Now, I know you said that you have done them quite a few times so you have your techniques, you also might have done some of this and just did not include in the video. But if you didn't know then there is something to think about. Either way awesome video and thank you for sharing it with us.

    Thank you for this video. Shows the nitty gritty sides of the hobby that EVERYONE should know about. I used clove oil on a large tinfoil Barb to remove a fungal infection very early in my fishkeeping experience. If this video was available then it would have been so much less stressful for me. Everything went well!

    I worked as a Fisheries Biologist assistant as a temp job in college. We were trapping Brook Trout in Maine and clipping their fins to mark them while conducting a population study. We anesthetized them using a mint oil instead of clove. It worked really well and recovery was very fast.

    Fantastic Joey! Great work! One question I'm personally curious about... obviously assuming water quality, diet, whatever causes it is correct, is it possible "drop eye" can return in the same eye, same place, after corrected?

    • @brianemery8945
      @brianemery8945 5 років тому +1

      Sure can

    • @mrliquiman
      @mrliquiman 5 років тому +1

      Yes it's possible that the drop eye can return after surgery since it's just fats, so basically after the surgery it's just weather you control your Arowana diet to try to prevent.
      But as Joey said there's many different thinking of how drop eye is form and as for my thinking is that drop eye is purely depend on the individual fish or the arowanas Gene, as I have seen skinny aros still having drop eyes

    As a lifelong fisherman, I can tell there might be a risk of infection or fungal growth on the fish, as the towel wasnt wet as the fish was laid on it. instead the towel most likely absorbed the slime coating the scales. When I catch a fish that I do not want to keep, I wet my hands before laying hands on them, so to keep the slime coat intact. Going to watch the next part now.
