DANNY!!!!!! This is the one. I am a guitar player but I could literally watch this guy play drums for hours, I can't explain why, he is mesmerising
GOAT... I've had the pleasure of meeting him 4 times now...Such a humble and cool guy. I'm taken back every time. I have a signed drumstick personally wishing me the best on my dresser. I look at it every morning on my way out.

the best musicians put the song before their ego. this i think is what makes Danny the goat. you never hear Danny go full prog drumming virtuoso in a Tool song unless it serves their song.
It's crazy how long Tool has been not just active, but actively creating and evolving. Even crazier that Danny played with Carol King. Good stuff!

I’m so happy for this generation of drummers that they have access to this kind of knowledge. Back when I was a young drummer fanboying on DC, Tool and DC had such a mystique that all we had to go by was a handful of interviews and Blair’s mostly BS newsletters. Highlights included tall tales like pumping helium into his drums on 10,000 Days. 😆

Danny is an amazing technical player and also an insanely creative and artistic musician as well. Tough to find someone so good in both those ways... and that's really what makes him possibly the best ever I think.
I always thought Danny looked like a surfer... and could have been one... but he was destined to be one of the greatest drummers of all time.

I remember getting the modern drummer mag in 1996 he was on the cover of.. he was god. Plain & simple. Him and Bonham. 1996 was a hell of a year for me. Ænima spoke directly to me… Seems silly now. It saved me.

the subtle sound on Aenima is pretty special. He always gives the song as much or as little as it needs. The best!
With influences like that paired an ability like his, Danny's use of the common phrase "whipping ass" has an intense power behind it. We are lucky to stand witness to such a master at his craft. What an artist

this is fantastic !
i remember seeing King Crimson on a TV show called Fridays. they played Elephant Talk and Thela Hun Jinjeet. went out and bought Discipline the next day. a year later two bands merged and i ended up with an SDS 5 as part of the deal. toured with those then traded them for an SDS 7 then later got the MTM interface Simmons came out with. i believe that's what Bruford used with Earthworks for awhile. still have the gear and am currently using the SDS 7 pads with a DDTi interface. 😄

He was wearing a king crimson shirt in his dressing room one of the times I met him. I think he filled in for them at a few shows or was looking to he mentioned.

For a fan like me that’s been waiting 25 years for an interview with the king DC, I’m disappointed with the questions that were asked. Danny has a goldmine of wisdom to share to the world and this interviewer asks why does he like electronics. What a waste of Danny and his fans time. So much more to dive into, this was more like a catch up at the store randomly in a target aisle.
Next time can we get someone with a media background to ask the right questions to this living legend and greatest of all time drummer imo

Danny has a foot and some inches on Eloy. Not that anyone cares, but the size of the human ends up mattering quite a bit in terms of how physical the hits can get.
Always wonderful when your heroes of different categories are normal people and not weird or an asshole.
