I Jennifer, I arrived in Manila from Brisbane on Thursday, no problems, but border security in Manila did ask to see travel insurance and one health pass, everything was in order thanks to your videos. Thank you very much
Hey Jenn, after our last chat on this issue, I think your timing on going over this was awesome!! 😀 It may of been more helpful to let your viewers know that they can't schedule their initial flight for more than 30 days. Remember when when we had this chat, I think last week? You left out the part about having to pay the change fees after your arrival....maybe if you do a follow up video, you can explain that further....Thanks again for all you do...your info is totally awesome!
That was my question, too. So foreigners can buy an initial round trip ticket for total of 30 days stay, get a visa tourist extension for another 29 days, but then have to change their flights to reflect that longer stay (and pay any airline change fees)? So that is the typical process? Thanks
Hi Jen / Elliot, thanks for this info, I"m from a 30 day tourist visa waiver country (Australia) and have a trip in Jan-Feb next year that is technically 31 days, by only 2.5 hours when landing at 21:30pm (30 nights stay) I"m not so concerned about a small fine but I am concerned how long I may be held up for the International connecting flight out of Manila to leave? Are you suggesting I can't use my scheduled Airline ticket that is a couple of hours over the 30 days? Failing that I may sit in baggage area until 00:01am to clear immigration on arrival to meet 30 day window :)
Hello Jennifer, Thank for always helpful information. I have just a short report concerning my first 2month extension. I’m retired now living at Masbate, the easiest way to go is to Legazpi. We arrived at 4:15pm today after travel and went to the office just to have a look at the location because they close at 5 pm. They invited us to enter and asked only for the passport. After 10 minutes I had my extension and they told me to come back end of May for ACR-I card and 6 months extension. I highly recommend this office, nice officers and very quick. Just a hint: the office has transfered, it has a new address at the harbour side, in google it’s still the old one.
Thank you Jennifer!! I just arrived a few days ago from the US, and I was wondering the steps to extending my stay under EO 408. You explained it very well, and provided very useful links to the immigration office locations and costs to avail the extension(s). Happy 2023!!

Only a few BI offices give the 6-month extension. If one is married to a Filipino citizen, one can also get a 6-month extension (show marriage certificate).

Please correct me if I'm wrong but you could technically restart or reset the timeframe of a Balikbayan visa by traveling to another country and coming back. You'll probably get flagged if you do this multiple times or in extremely short time intervals. I'm traveling to the Philippines in a few weeks and I plan on visiting other countries as well, I'll be giving this a shot. I'd rather pay to see another country lol than pay the BI to get an extension. Of course I will get an extension if I need to but I am also planning on traveling to a nearby Asian country. It looks like countries like Thailand is cracking on this "practice". I'm planning on getting my dual citizenship while I'm there so I might not even need to get an extension. If anyone has any experience, feel free to comment.
In theory, to be given balikbayan privilege of 1 year, the traveler must have been out of PH for at least 1 year. However, giving of BB privilege depends on the discretion of the Immigration Officer. Re: dual citizenship, You may apply for it at the Bureau of Immigration main office in Intramuros, Manila. Dual citizenship is good to have if you're a senior & intend to retire in PH (can get senior citizen benefits).
Remember, looking like a Filipino/Filipina nor speaking the language, is not enough to claim your balikbayan status. Don't forget to bring your documents, like an old/expired Philippine passport OR authenticated Philippine birth certificate from PSA. EO 408 is the Philippines' visa waiver program. Foreign nationals falling under the EO 408 list can enter the Philippines without a visa. Foreign nationals who are not included in EO 408 list are required to get a visa first before traveling to the Philippines.
I noticed when I recently went to the Philippines with my family in February my arrival stamp said "stay until" with the date being exactly a year from the current date on the stamp.(I'm a Fil-Am born) Would the balikbayan program still apply to me when I travel there again later in the year by myself or would I have to apply for tourist visa / extension? Another question is that would I need to have the tourist visa before hand if I decide to apply for extensions in the Philippines?

I will search for the 59 day Multi entry visa.
My father used to stay 6 weeks (42 days) in the philippines before the pandemic.Hes from australia and dual citizen. Does the pandemic changes everything now? does he need to show an onward return ticket to australia for 30 days stay???????does the pandemic changed the rules now??does ne heed to show extra documents now to prove hes a dual citizen and can stay indefinitely in the philippines??
He can stay indefinitely/ forever in PH if he is a dual citizen. He must bring his dual citizen docs.
@@kitty_s23456 I know he can stay in the philippines forever , BUT, before he doesnt need to show any documents.......Now with all the current restrictions Im thinking he need to show philippine citizenship docutment tha he doesnt need to do before
@@RRacel that was pre-covid. The rules changed because of covid. Dual citizens have to show their dual docs and former Filipino citizens/ balikbayans have to show proof as well.
