Just to add one thing. Dave didn't mention it you can feint you counters as well i.e. If someone does a slash and you counter slash, but then they feint to and overhead you can also feint you counter to match. This also helps if you misread a drag and you can counter feint to the same attack to still het the counter in.

I do that and some time it throw off the enemy that thought he hit, sometimes they panic a bit
Awesome video, I have about 250 hours in the game but sill learned some stuff I didn't know somehow lol. Even though I don't use feints or jabs much at all I can still frag out in the TO modes by just countering left clicks, using good footwork, and excels / drags. Obviously when I run into a good duelist they figure out my style quickly and destroy me lol so I'm trying to get good with the other mechanics. Hope to see more!

@@DaRealestJuri It is crazy, but Maul is my favorite weapon so jabs don't really help much when I play in slow motion compared to everyone else.
@@TheRUSTYTINMAN97 The jab is still useful because if it's anything like Chivalry 1 then the stab is the fastest possible attack so its good for interrupting an enemy attack or finishing somebody
@@TheRUSTYTINMAN97 I'd argue that you'd be reliant on jabs precisely because your Maul renders you slow-motioned.

It's nice to see you back on UA-cam. Your videos helped me to take my first steps in Mordhau, and I'm in love with melee slashers since then. I've been playing mordhau and I'm playing chiv 2 since steam release. Thanks for showing me this genre and I hope we will cross our swords one day in chiv.

New to the game coz it was free on PSN and I'm waiting for Diablo IV to come out, so I downloaded it. This game is awesome! It's like a medieval COD. the controls are a bit complicated, but I'm getting the hang of it. This video is very helpful. Thank you!

This video helps me a lot, i didnt play Mordhau, so by see this video its help me a bit in Chivalry2, i just downloaded Chivalry 2 weeks ago and always play as an Archer, but after see this video i keep playing as a Vanguard the mechanic i can follow little by little as i see this video, Thanks Sir!

Was playing Civ1 back in 2015 for a Long time and later Chiv2 for a while. Especially the Duell areas in Chiv1 was great. I return to Chiv2 now intentioning improving myself in this Game.

I’ve recently gotten hooked by Chivalry 2 and have had a really hard time finding content that actually explains the nuances of combat. I have no prior experience with any “slasher” titles and this video was enormously helpful for me! I’d love to see the key takeaways summarized in a more structured video but otherwise this was amazing, thank you!

I dont know if its mention but you can use your bandage kinda at a better advance, instead of just applying the bandage first. Start off blocking first kills animation and more time to react. Ive tested it a bit, must block a tiny second before bandage it doesnt work instantly but faster than normal bandage.
To get better as a new guy we must survive first 😂

The yellow lines in the counter window. The different color sparks. The different sounds per hit. There’s so many hidden things they don’t tell you. This is much more complicated than it appears 😂

Important note is that soter is wrong here in that counters are stamina neutral. We generally assume that your attack also will land on your enemy, and when it does you will regen more stamina. But the counter itself cost stamina, and when that counter connects with a counterable attack it refunds that stamina. Also you can counter even on zero stam, just can't counter feint.
So counters are actually stamina positive generally. At worst stamina nuetral.

Feels like the guy should have told you more explicitly that you should work on getting more reactive and adapt to your opponent insteat of getting down a "winning" recipe.

@@Oniichanani My bad, sorry. Thing is, what i realised is that the guy was constantly looking for a "win recipe", ehich is pretty normal i guess.
What i kinda realised though, is that the dudes skill came from constantly changing up his strategy by exploiting whenever he was leaning on a specific strategy.
From a coaching perspective the guy might have benefited the most from making that very clear.
That said, i guess teaching and learning that is probably also the hardest.

I have 600 hours all first person only, I can tell by sound when someone is behind me and when they swing, I would argue my awareness is heightened compared to people that play 3rd because you aren't forced to hone all forms of imput just visual.
You can tell the difference between allies footsteps and enemies.
But a game is broken when 1st person takes hundreds of hours what 3rd person has from minute one. And I hate 3rs person in slashers. If I want 3rd person, I play a souls game.
@@1IGG I never had any issue with 1st person on chivalry, then again dying doesn't bother me like some people.

You should try using 1st person after you earn some of the game "street smarts" and after you get used to quickly analyze your environment when getting into a battle or retreating from it. 1st person gives you extreme precision, allowing you to hit enemies with your useless teammates in front of you and to easily get around the enemy block hit box.

Just got done playing my first night of Chivalry 2.
F.P. perspective with the FOV turned all the way up is amazing. 3rd person in this game and Mordhau always felt clunky and not in perspective to me. I feel if one feels they will be in a fight with multiple players then using First Person really makes you stay aware of your surroundings and look while multiple people are swinging at you. It definitely is the superior game.
I suck so bad at this game.. but really want to learn how to be better.. This is a great video!

Not sure if you reply on old video but just in case, about combo. The reason why you pause (and same as my problem) I afraid that when I hit the attack is blocked and hence the initiative is not on me, so I can’t do the second swing. But if I did hit and then attack again with the pause , again, I lost initiative
So what is the best way then? Immediate reaction or …
At 7m or so, we’re learning about punishing Jabs in response to breaking combos. I notice both coach and student turn away from target to make space to avoid the jab. Is this because backpedaling would be too slow to avoid the jab?
If so, I imagine this would be more challenging on console?

I still prefer first person. I really enjoy realism in games and put that fun over stats. Plus the smaller FOV trains you to look around more often and develop better situational awareness and intuition. Do this enough and you can often get a feel or predict an enemy looking to flank you based on getting a glance of them moments prior. It can be quite fun and rewarding. Personally I think devs should make games either only first person or only third person so everything is more equal, especially in highly competitive games but either way, just as with anything they have pros and cons.
I also found an interesting mechanic with when they try to kick stun, you can use the repost and get a free hit often after they kick

Sucks when on Xbox the jab and crouch are the same button. Half the time I mean to jab and just crouch instead or vice versa
Can you attack while leaning backward? Like if they’re trying to punch you you can leave back & stab. Is that possible?
Yep you can! Movement and attacks are seperate

Definitely harder to add jabs when you have a weapon with long reach. Great for when someone rushes you but dueling is a bit harder with jabs + long normal reach
Played my first 200 hours or so in 1st person. Took me a long time to get good at that. Then I switched to 3rd and honestly it is way more optimal when fighting 1vX

Yeah I think first person should be the only mode tbh, third person existing makes classes like the ambusher much worse indirectly since it gives more field of view.

3rd person should have never been a thing. and to hear that the "competetive" scene prefers it is very saddening. in age of chivalry and chivalry medival combat 3rd person in competition wasnt even a thing.
