+James Mills Eric Burdon ? The Best vocalist? not by a long shot. Many, many more with better range and timber. However, Burton was just right for the Animals. A great group, a great sound and a great time in music.
Ah,Ah,Ah.......!!!My goodness, what an incredible song!! One of their best!! Eric Burdon truly has one of the best and most powerful voices ever..but has been overlooked, for the most part. And the parts when they chant,"ah,ah,ah,ah" is a transcendental moment. Just incredible!!!!! My friends, this is what Rock and Roll is all about....in its rawest and most heartfelt form!!
Watch and observe, children. They PLAY their instruments and sing with competence. They know their instruments and have spent a lot of time practicing and learning their skill. No Autotune. No computerization doing it for them. This is something called talent. Talent was a skill from decades ago before Autotune, before computerization, before the record industry picked young people to become stars based on visual appeal and how far a person would go with publicity stunts to create shock value. These talented musicians of the past had creativity, commitment, flair, skill, and put in a lot of time writing and polishing their songs. Many of them read what is called sheet music. Sheet music is a kind of language for music using what is called notes. Sheet music and notes kind of equate to learning how to write language and use what is called grammar. Grammar are the rules and guidelines of language. Music has a grammar to it, as well. In both writing language and music, creativity may be used to create magnificent songs, such as the one on this video. However, you will have to learn what is called discipline. Discipline requires something called work. Discipline and work will give you the means to learn how to actually sing and play instruments on your own without computerized assistance. Once you become good with singing and playing instruments, something called your self-esteem will improve. You will develop a sense of what is called accomplishment, like these young lads in the video. You, too, will be able to groove and jam out like The Animals and other talented artists of their era.
+David Ellis Daltry, Fogerty, Cummings, and Burdon....all fantastic vocalists who individually are better than any Beatle, Stone, Kink, Moody, Byrd, etc.
+Smufter16 Eric Burdon & John Fogerty are great.but you cannot knock the Byrds..The late Gene Clark was a sublime vocalist, along with Roger McGuinn & David Crosby..But these guys were folk vocalist, not rock --Fogerty...soul/blues Burdon.Ray Davies is still a sublime vocalist..pioneer of punk..But operating in a different area than Burdon/Fogerty.Jagger's vocals speak for themselves...originally Blues..As do Lennon/McCartney.i'm not going to knock any of these guys..
+Patrick Houlihan My favorite bands are Beatles, Byrds, Moody Blues so yea I hear what you are saying. I was just rating the singing based on power range and control...purely as a singer. But each one was perfect for the band they were in. Hell, we're just comparing various perfect diamonds. BTW if you love Gene (I do too) read the book "Mr Tambourine Man" it is amazing!!! I actually saw Gene play a couple months before he died in Santa Monica. He looked really ill but still had that golden voice. Peace..
Eric Burdon is a great musician/singer and, I think, underestimated; He's got rhythm in his blood! Big hello from France ! Sorry for my bad English !!!
+Pj Brady hahaha trust me I've seen soooo many of their videos. That's why erics my favorite singer cause he has so much energy and he says and knows that the music industry isn't mostly for the money it's for the music. That's what I appreciate about him
Your looking at a Legend...here with Burton. He was so cool, one of the original white Blues men of the 60's. He still is active, still tours. Once in a while shows up on one of the Late Shows...He always was and always will be... a bad ass ...
I'm old now, but I'm glad I was young when the Animals came around. Hilton Valentine's head banging was about 25 years ahead of its time! Never gave a rip about the Beatles, Keith Richard's guitar was cool, but Alan, Chas, Hilton, Eric and Johnny forever touched my young mind.
Agree! Beatles never did anything for me, this early, VERY early grunge stuff later lead to the Romones and the rest is history, and Zep was a classical version of this grit! wonderful stuff!
Eric Burden from the very first had such unshakable stage presence! He was/is the. Primordial epitome of cool.No one before or since has had such a command of
The Animals very first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show was on Sunday, October 18, 1964. It will be 50 years ago next month that they first appeared which is also the first time that The Animals visited the United States from England. The Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in Feb. 1964. The Rolling Stones appeared on October 25, 1964. It was an exciting time to be a teenager back then, which I was. :-) I really liked The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, but my favorite was and still is The Animals. Big crush on Eric Burdon when I was a teenager. ha ha
Holy Shit!, Fantastic, can only imagine what it must have been like when this came out!, I wish I could be a teen every 10 or so years!! The concerts I could go to!!!
I listened to this album and the Animal Tracks all the time when I was 12. WE also had the EP Early Animals. My friends got fed up with me and my one-track mind.
just love this. it's like eric just broke loose and letting it all out!!!! amazing after all the videos he was trying to do something different...he nailed it here
LOVE the Animals before my time but been taught right eric burdon one belter of a frontman and here at 1:36 hilton valentine really going for it surely an inspiration to punk generation?.
In my honest opinion, best band ever!!! What an amazing sound these guys make. Do i see the first headbanging here? Sound, rythym ans voice is beyond every other band. Excellent!!
John Steel was my kind of Drummer. Nothing flashy just perfection in timing. You always need a anchor in music so others can soar to heights. When I played Drums before I become ill in 2003 that is what I tried to do in Bands.
Yep, it's live and it's awesome. The sound is fabulous - all the tube gear - the engineering is spot on. The tube preamps and compressors, harmonics and ringing make Eric's vocals sound raw, powerful, almost erie. This track screams!
you youngsters don't realize how raw this song is ------------ now that's some magnificent talent you're witnessing here! ------------- the simplest of amplification -------------- and to sound this good?
Why did I not discover The Animals before now. Bloody BRILLIANT. LOVE ERIC XXX❣
Eric Burdon has an amazing voice. He's one of the great rock vocalists of all time.
r&b
100% agree--probably the best
Atomic Lobotomy без база братиш!

Simply, the best male voice!
Ah,Ah,Ah.......!!!My goodness, what an incredible song!!

GO, daddy Eric, GO!!!!! I just LOVE The Animal and I can't get enough of Eric Victor " Beggin' Man" Burdon. Lawd have mercy!!!!!
Eric Burden and the Animals were never given the praise or appreciation they deserved!
They sure didn't!
Some performance from the little maestro...Chas adds so much energy to the performance 💜
What an incredible voice. Never heard anything like him before. Gives goosebumps
Ladies and Gentlemen.....THIS is ROCK n ROLL!!!
He and Van Morrison sound so similiar. Amazing. My favorite song.
THIS is Music
Damn, he was about twenty in this video. WOW! Amazing!
Perfect drummer for the band
Vocal - Eric Burdon
Guitar - Hilton Valentine
Keyboard - Alan Price
Bass - Chas Chandler

One of the best British Invasion rock and roll classic line up

I am sure that is a young Donald Trump on bass.
Chas Chandler active guy

This guys are absolutely fabulous.
Damn, Eric! Wish I could've witness all this talent back then! Wasn't born yet! What a mannnnnnn!

I was a teenager when I first heard this song by the Animals. A half century later, I enjoy it just as much. Great music. Great group. Period.
No rock voice could touch Burdon when he was in his 20’s and 30’s. He could sing a dictionary and make it sound good! Of course, he was also a looker.
Eric Burdon was so hot & still ain't bad for a 75- year old. And that powerful voice....oh Lord.
1000% agree! 💝💝💝
YES!! 😍😍😍
@@weirdasscandyreview3254 you're pretty sexy yourself

That's the happiest I've ever seen Eric when he sang.
I admire, enjoy and respect Chas Chandler's stage presence so much. A great guy gone too soon.
True
I really like the energy in this video and all of their performances 😊
+Helena If you look at any of their old videos Eric Burdon NEVER lip synced, they may have played a pre-recorded background but he was always live.

unbelievable - that power. the animals in top form...

Yeah there is something too much about the animals,.they always had my ear more then a lot of other lauded bands from the 60s
I'm also old now, retired, a teen in the 60's, loved the animals the stone's DC5 kink's etc etc, none touched the beatles
The Beatles actually turned out to be pretty good.
The Animals nailed it with this one. Great song writing. Great performance.

Am crying these kind of rock and roll music cannot be heard anymore .
I love this because its LIVE! In those days, they usually used live vocals over the record for TV shows.
Killer voice! The prettiest eyes ever on a handsome man. Love him!
Raw energy combined with youth and real talent!
One of his best younger songs. God what a voice!
