I really don't know how you aren't way bigger on UA-cam. Absolutely stunning footage, great narration, absolutely amazing hunts. Phenomenal editing. You hit every mark. Literally top 90% of hunting youtubers.

It is as simple as that. Both in fishing and hunting, you have to live it in the most pure and essencial way, it is much more than just catching something... Keep up that amazing work!

Totally engrossed in this! I felt every single bit of this hunt as if I were there. Hamish, I even got rather emotional with the gut wrenching loss 😭😭😭 and then I wanted to cheer when I saw your face in the pt2 teaser! Haha Joe, you are the bessstttt video maker evveerrrrr! 😘
Just got myself some of the Stoney Creek Tuatara Camo. It really looks the business in the Bush. Can’t wait to try it out. Another awesome vid. I’m hooked on this channel
Awesome video. Been bowhunting for close on 20 years now and do not trust mechanical heads for that exact reason. From south Africa so do a fair amount of hunting your 1st shot placement should of done the trick. Always amazing to see how quickly an animal can heal from a non vital bow shot. We'll done on getting that stag in the end! Hoping to get over soon to chase a red deer too.
Breaks my heart seeing such a good archer using what amounts to target arrows for hunting - get yourself some adult arrows my boy! Don't listen to the hype at the shop, it's like asking a barber if he thinks you need a haircut. Razor sharp heavy broadheads all the way. Best of luck
Haha fixed blades are the way to go that's for sure. The Rages took a high number of animals over the years for us all but weve all moved to fixed blades since the 2nd Wildboy video
A better way would be to use a rifle. Taking an animals life is not simply about the experience for you. To take a weapon which is less accurate and more difficult to operate, (if you have other more suitable ones) is just an odd thing to do. It is about doing the job right, not what entertains you the most.
Lol everyones an expert. If only they knew what you done for a living 😂 living the dream mate and love the wild boy series. I only discovered you through a hunting podcast. So glad to look you up further on UA-cam.

Great video, greetings from Canada, here most do not use mechanical broad heads on moose or elk, fixed blade is the way to go on large game. Good job man
Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed it. I was meant to be in Canada right now guiding but covid put a stop to that. Make sure you watch part two of this hunt 😉, we take your advice with the broadhead choice on this Stag! It is on my channel, I think I've called it ''We both cant believe what happened"

Hi Joe .... Awesome !!! Lets hope 'part 2' has the desired outcome, eh ?!! That was a fantastic edit by the way. My favourite aspect ( one that I'm just starting to utilise more) is the use of multiple, subtle, underlying audio layers to help tell the story and create more 'atmosphere'. Wish more people would realise that audio is probably more important than the image. Levels were beautifully even throughout so no reaching for the volume slider every five minutes. I've never been a fan of the over use of slow motion in videos but I think you included just the right amount to compliment those early cinematic sequences ... less is more. Anyway, only constructive criticism on that note was the bird song. To me it sounded more like we were in an English, early morning country side setting rather than New Zealand native bush ??? Just an observation. Cheers Joe .... Matt
Hey thanks Matt your right audio is key in my mind too. I feel like the slow motion scenes help tell a story and I quite like them personally. Hahah your not the first person to talk with me about the birds, the bird sounds are real and that sunny evening they were singing like crazy! I didnt introduce any of the bird Sound Effects but in a few scenes I overlayed the audio from the previous scene to make it more smooth. They were darn noisy tho aye haha!
@@j.e.wilds-hunting Yes, I use Rage Hypo's for all big game. Never had issues. I use Easton FMJ's at 5mm with no insert or added weight at 29 inches with Rage Hypodermics. Out to 60 I'm good with that set up so far. Elk, mule deer, or whitetail.

I share the same opinion, I do not like the mechanicals. Ive seen too many bad outcomes with them over the years. What broadheads have you found you like the most and are currently using? 3 blades seem to do well from what ive seen
JE Wilds my experience on broad heads is mostly with traditional gear, taking many deer and medium to large game, up to a Water Buffalo in Australia. I used a Grizzly broad head and loved them. My father hunted with his compound bow extensively (3 trips to Africa), he tried the mechanical heads, then threw them away in disgust. He then went back to 2 and 3 blades heads (other experienced hunters can recommend what’s best, better than me). Being a butcher I have processed 100’s and 100’s of deer, even finding a mechanical head buried in the scapula of a red hind, later shot by a friend of mine with his recurve. All the best.
