    I own the Sony A7RIII. It is a truly amazing camera. I can't imagine needing anything else. But this video is fascinating. Thanks for posting.

    I don’t even need to zoom in. Sony looks like a smartphone camera compared to hasselblad

    Kudos to the friend who allowed you to use her face for pixel peeping lmao. Hasselblad is a beast!

    would've been interesting to use the pixelshift on the sony for still architecture shots.

    these days if you compare it with A7RV? WHAT WOULD HAPPEN ?

      Not sure, have not tried the A7RV, but the A7RV looks an amazing camera and I'm sure it will be better than the Sony A7 III, but I somehow don't think it will have the 'medium format' 'look' of the Hassy. To get that medium format 'look' you have to have a much larger sensor than full frame.

      I own the Sony and it produces pretty decent images for the price, you won't be disappointed with the A7 III.

    I shoot the A7III and is longing for a XID II but must say I got lot from your video. I find the difference so miniscule it may not be worth the while to move up to the Hasselblad. Clients and the average photo enthusiast certainly can't identify the differences at first glans. What difference there may be can be fixed in Lightroom post processing. Also, higher quality lens may also lessen the disparity! Having said that, the Hasselblad remains on my "bucket list," leaning to the Hasselblad 907X 50C!

      Hi Rick. Thanks for posting. I'd hold fire on any Hasselblad at the moment as they just don't have a decent medium format that has Eye AF detect and many of the features found on even an older camera like the Sony A7 III. Hasselblad are a good 10 years behind modern mirrorless cameras and they are behind Fuji by some years too. I'd hold out for Hassy to bring out the much needed replacement for the X1D II, something that has Eye AF detect and up-to-date features that medium format photographers demand. In the meantime, be creative with your Sony. I have an A7 III with a Sigma Art series 24-70 f2.8 and it takes stunning photos and video. A famous photographer (can't remember who) once said in answer to the question: what is the best camera? to which he replied, whatever camera I have with me at the time. So true. I think Covid and other global issues have got in the way of many companies announcing new products. I'm still waiting for the new 32-inch iMacs to be announced. One thing is for sure, if Hassy don't announce a decent updated replacement to the X1D by the end of the year, first quarter of 2023 at the latest, they will be looking at going bust - yet again.

      @@tecraven "Great minds think alike," I too shoot the Sony 7III, with the Sigma 24-70mm as my main lens. I am an event photographer, with travel and Landscape photography as a hobby. Hasselblad is out of my budget at this time, however, when I do get one it will be the 907X 50C. I love the aesthetics. It will be more of a statement piece, you know. I do enjoy your videos and have been binging on them over the past few days. I see your work as sort of a trade journal. Thanks for posting, thanks replying!

    With the Sony I'm noticing magenta cast, is this a regular occurence with different photos?

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  3 роки тому +1

      For me, the Sony cameras and Fuji cameras lean to a warmer tone. I feel the Hasselblad is a little on the cold side. Either way, you can change the slight magenta cast or warm up the Blad in post. I haven't used the Sony that much since I've owned it so haven't got a feel for the 'look' of the A7 III images yet.

      @@tecraven That is interesting, I'm just researching more about the Sony and I have noticed there is a section of comments who seem to rail against the Sony in its color science. It's cool you were able to compare it with the Hasselblad, thanks

      @@powerfultoa7 Remember, if you shoot RAW it will be minimum and you can do what you want in post. Only 'cast' will be down to how your software processes the RAW file.

      @@tecraven A helpful reminder. And a couple of most helpful video. Thanks for both. Have 500cm and a Superwide . C & love them both & was thinking a 907x back but that will also require a mod to the SWC tripod shoe, putting cost at over £6k so your observation that there is a place in life for both a Sony 7iii and a Hasselblad was a timely home-truth & fell on fruitful soil. Can’t justify the ‘Blad expense at age 87 so will get aSony for convenience (with a quality) but keep the old film friends for pure enjoyment - despite no longer having my darkroom. You were a great. help to me - and I will still have enough to buy film !

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  3 роки тому

      @@jamesdouglaswhittaker6645 Yes, I can't really see the point in the 907x, even if you have a load of old lenses, the X1D II would be the way to go, as it's the same price. But 500cm with those Zeiss lenses is superb. I know a few guys who shoot on 500cm and Mamiya RZ67 Pro II cameras still and they never moved over to digital. There are still loads of superb printers out there who will do blow ups for you from your medium format negs and transparencies. I recently gave serious thought to buying a used Sinar 5x4 camera again, they go really cheap on eBay. You're doing the right thing, 500cm is superb, then grab a full-frame mirrorless camera for other stuff. I really like the Canon R6, I'd look at that over the Sony A7 III.
