Interesting, I was under the impression the windows didn't open-the pilot opening the left window in flight (below pressurisation altitude of course) and sticking his head out to get a visual when the main window was obstructed was not something I ever imagined would be in an official training video.
some years ago a 747 flew through an ash cloud and all of the front windows turned opague. The only way to see the rwy TD was to fly using the side windows.
@@daftvader4218 nothing to do with open windows, they flew visually, by simply leaning over and looking out from through the angled side windows. Side note, the airflow at the nose of many aircraft keeps the air (and thus, particles) from hitting the side windows. Many transport category aircraft can be flown with a flight deck window open (eg. 737)
Still has no winglets to this day, Alaska Airlines owns and operates this aircraft till this very day :), this was probably around 2000ish, I recall something about the wings on it not being able to be fitted with winglets for structural reasons
I work insuarnce and dont know why I'm watching this at work but its very soothing

@@ghostrider-be9ek Really. ..
What an amazing crew...
Considering the windows do not open....
Do tell me how they managed that....

@@ghostrider-be9ek It was not actually the side window it was the left edge of the window front of the captain that he used to land the plane
Boeing should make a follow up video for doors😉
Aaaahhh
There was no reason why I just watched that. But enjoyed it.
At what point do I change my pants?
When you've safely touched down and reached the terminal.
When you reach safe altitude... XD
I'd like to know when was this shot? Back then, this B737-900 still has no winglet.

Seems like they need some mechanical lever to ensure they can close the window.
Close it??
This just happened with SWA, but they did a high speed reject. Wrong decision?
On some planes the windows can't be closed again.
驚いた・・・
If the altitude is low and the speed is low, probably not a big deal.
Excelente piloto, noa desesperou e conseguiu contornar a situação! Por perigoso que seja!
I never this problem on the
B 747-400.....
I must be an ACE???
And when you close that window everyone's ears are going to pop.
Pressure increase gradually 👍
Warning for headphone users
Imagine "engineering" a window that can open during take off 😮
