"This is my new job, I announce things; see me at a train station later" Steven Moffat 2017
That's all he's good for.
Please God, NO. We'd spend hours waiting for trains that would be amazing if they existed, but no, he keeps hinting at them and then chastising us for thinking a train would show up.
@@Jannah1 well then i know who the manager of the german train association DB is
All the use of ‘The Doctors Theme’ (played throughout series 1 whilst Eccleston was around) is amazing in this episode!
"Oh well... I guess one more life will not kill anyone... anyone except me"
that was devastating.
It really was.
I was heart broken by that line
4th wall break there.
Jerry To the only time moffat could kill a main character😅
Just an hour of absolutely stunning awesomeness! The Doctors performed wonderfully together and YES Clara actually returned as I hoped. Can't wait to watch series 11!
The Doctor gonna have to change you profile pic now eh?😆
This episode was amazing. It was the perfect farewell to Peter Capaldi. Rusty, Jenna, Matt Lucas! This was Perfect!
Oliver Linklater don’t forget bill
How can you put Clara in that ? I hated that moment. I feel it like they needed to put that moment to end Clara story, like a box you tick. "We will need 30s of Clara in the plot guys, dont forget." But for god sakes, it can't end like this. She had a Tardis, she is immortal with another immortal, he waited 4.5 billions years to try to save her. Remembering her should've been amazing, and not happen in 30s but slowly during the episode. They had all they needed but they didn't use it. Rusty for example.
Oliver Linklater who's rusty
Oliver Linklater that's interesting as in Votesaxon07's poll you said you were disappointed in the episode.
Dantdm UA-cam The ‘good’ dalek from Capaldi’s second episode who appeared in this episode.
Thank you Steven for the memories and the life lessons... we will miss you... and goodbye Peter you were awesome and we loved you... I AM SO SAD THIS IS OVER
SuperWhøLøck is my life what life lessons? Sexism?
Everything ends, and it's always sad. But everything begins again and that's always happy
I always cherish these moments and at the moment I felt your comment is joining them too
Out all the post regenerations line jodies is the funniest "Oh Brillant" in her native Yorkshire accent, Can't wait to hear more!
I don't know what she will be like but at first glance it looks like she got the doctor thing down. Can't wait for the new season.
"If you want to destroy really good things, Chris you can. And you know who's fault it is Chris? It's your fault Chris, you." Well that aged marvellously didn't it?
such an ironic moment, hilarious and sadly true
Best quote from the episode "Only children can understand your name ... sometimes they can hear it in the stars"
Samson Adeola - Not quite the quote.
Samson Adeola i prefer the never eat pairs line
Hearts, stars. Both full of amazingness
Samson Adeola I didn't understand that
Despite how profound that is suppose to sound it's utterly meaningless.
“Chris, you wanna blow up this beautiful set then go ahead! That’s your choice! You wanna destroy beautiful things then that’s on you!”
Honestly, listening to this from Moffat sounded very relatable 2:25
foreshadowing
and destroy them he did. Here comes RTD to once again resurrect the show.
The episode's ending was amazing. Jodie fell out of the TARDIS as it was burning up and de-materializing
From what it looked like to me, the TARDIS shook her out of itself on purpose
No TARDIS, multiple companions, Chris Chibnall...Torchwood???
Really great episode. No real threat or problem for the doctor to solve. But a heartwarming episode.Lovely send off for Capaldi. Great Cliffhanger as well. Can't wait for Jodie to get out of that rather difficult situation!! If only I could travel into the future to watch the new series in autumn but the Tardis is on fire so I can't!
I was worried about whether or not I'd like Whitaker but the way she said "oh brilliant" instantly won me over
That's how you know a doctor is going to be good. Two simple words and she won me. I was excited when I first heard she was going to the doctor but now I'am ecstatic.
Poor Jodie….
No Peter telling us to subscribe? Now it's all really gone...
Peter was fantastic and so was the story and I can't believe who the captains name was and Rusty came back and the ending was sad, however I feel this episode is going to be a classic in the future.
I think it already could be, like the day of the doctor or dalek at the time
Blastfrom thepast and the Lethbridge-Stewart family is known by the new fans with kate
You're a ray of sunshine, aren't you?
Guys I was just making an opinion about the Christmas special and I know you might have your own.
Blastfrom thepast actually, a lot of people had another theory about him. They thought he was the creator of the police box, Gilbert MacKensie-Trench. www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-10-05/doctor-who-christmas-special-mark-gatiss-inventor-blue-police-box/
I cried, it's as sad as David Tennant's, he's alone, and doesn't want to leave
This episode had the timeless reach of an auld Scottish poem, I could sense the mists, heather and battle. It will exist in the heart and imaginations of all who watched, will watch, forever watch forever! Capaldi was preternaturally the Doctor, his hearts 'n' souls. The world is suddenly a better place for this remarkably heart warming piece of television. Thank you from the bottom of my very full single heart, overflowing in fact, Steven Moffat. Gx
that was just epic! ....I love it when the episodes are like that.... some how everything from the past is getting connected..like a huge puzzle …and very beautiful …when old and dear characters are included in the story...so no one ever will be forgotten....that kind of thing that reminds us why doctor who is so special to us...having fun, adventures, deep friendship, kindness
Lovely that David Bradley did in fact end up teaming with the 13th Doctor albeit briefly in Power of the Doctor
This episode was so comedic and so moving. Absolutely beautiful.
The fact that Nardole did die off-screen is something I've just noticed
SteakScythe everybody dies. Testmony is a organisation from the year 5 billion of course is he dead
I grown up with Moffat's run when I saw S5 finale at start of high school, loved it and went back for the entire 2005 run.I enjoyed every bit of the ride as life collapsed/rebuilt around me, but now here we are at the end of the road.
School's over and university next, life is again at a crossroad as I struggle to accept change from one thing to another. But Doctor Who will be there to lift me up from the problems of my past and let me carry on regardless of what the future awaits.
As it always have been, regardless of who carry the torch. Regardless of the flaws in writings and regardless of the limits they push. It will always be that one thing I goes back to when everything else falls into ashes.
Love, a fan.
(Give blessing regards to the new torch bearers.)
A real Whovian doesn't quit watching just because of a regeneration
Yeah.
True I've disliked each and every newbie but they all won me over...
I think i like all of them
That is what I've been screaming at everyone who says I'm leaving
A real whovian leaves because they dont wanna see the show be destroyed. Too late now ig
No one realises Murray Gold is gone now too...
Yep, Gold's done amazing work, and maybe my favorite of his is the song playing during Twelve's last words
TimelordRock I'm kinda glad, can't wait for new music
Liam Cahill As much as I love Murray Gold's contribution over the years, new music will help make a clean break and will be most welcome. I'm hoping for a drastic change in the opening theme's... Arrangement? Orchestration? Not a music person, so maybe both
IngotAU yeah I feel the same. In Classic Who they alternated composers every couple if episodes and I think that would be a good idea, cause it'll open the composers to more exposure and give each episode(s) a cool new feel
@@morningcoffeecat2271 classic who had shit music (apart from the wonderful titled music of course) most of which was either taken from stock in the Hartnell/Troughton era, or was annoying electronic stings and pantomime organ interludes when the baddies came along. Murray Gold was a genius and whatever critics of him say, those are the Doctor Who music tracks you can play again and again, that are recognisably Who, and have true emotional pull. The modern music after him is bland beyond belief. More sophisticated than the classic twangery, but it is in the same vein. It's just digital filler! Unidentifiable background music that no one remembers.
went from "I don't want to go" to "I let you go"
Moffat can finally rest. Really glad he can take time for himself. Yes, he had his flaws. But he knew how to set things up. For crying out loud, he came with the idea for Heaven Sent on a talk show. A TALK SHOW.
Christmas special: did you guys hear the Bad Wolf theme as well?! I'm totally flabbergasted..... would Rose have a comeback?
The Bad Wolf theme and variations of it have appeared throughout the show since 2005, Rose or not. It's most commonly called The Doctor's Theme now, so correlation with Rose isn't definite.
Could be, could be..... I don't know, really. We'll all find out in the new series, I guess
Spade-kun and the doomsday theme and for godsake they played Vale decem 😁😁
No chance. Way past time to move on from her.
They used so much of Chris/davids era music that they haven't used in ages, was literally amazing! Hope they keep using it
02:33 " If you want to destroy really good things, Chris, you can. And you know whose fault it is? It's your fault, Chris. That's what I said. You. " If only he knew.... :/
Maybe he did :D
Exactly
13th catchphrase "Oh brilliant!"
I loved the whole episode and Capaldi's speech at the end was so heartbreaking I cried so much.. I'm gonna miss him so much.. 😭😭💔💔💔
I was crying at the end.
same it was so sad
Same
Happy crying
I was crying non-stop from when they put Doomsday onward
Me too
"doctor, i let you go"
that line right there is what did me in. I cried like a big baby.
JUST YES
I'll always be critical of people who control a show I love, and with any and all of my issues with Steven Moffat and can't help think "You Know what...You did great" Because he gave us 12, Peter Capaldi as the Doctor is the greatest gift we could have ever gotten. Thank You Maffot...And Good luck to Chibbers, between RTD and the Maff...He has to make sure many more Doctors Can let themselves go :')
Moffat* and Chibnall*
The Twelfth Doctor imagine correcting someone using a nickname
I loved this episode. David Bradley was absolutely brilliant, as was Peter of course. Loved how they dovetailed it into the Tenth Planet. It was poignant, sad and also very funny: "they took out all the jokes". I was hooked by Jodie before she even said her first line.
I just watched it and... well im stuck for words...
Bill Cipher good way or bad way?
It was beautiful and wonderful and I cried for an hour.
Peter broke my hearts again
Damn it! When Bill showed up in that scene, before hand I thought it was going to be Susan. Got so excited.
it's good it was not Susan; those glass creatures copy dieing people memory; if susan appeared, that would have meant that she died :(
Oh God! That a good point. Now I wish it was Clara. Actually no. I can't see her in anyway way that won't make be angry.
'if you want to destroy things, Chris, you can' and that's just what he did.
David Bradley playing a young Jodie Whittaker - the alternative description for Twice Upon a Time
Now it's over, I really want to interview Steven so much. It's delightful watching him spilling all the details he has always not been able to about this show and I just wanna throw questions at him and watch him go to town.
I sometimes struggle to justify the relevance of the BBC and paying the license fee but then I see Doctor who in all its brilliance and realise it’s worth every penny. Something to be proud of,Jodie will be amazing
I'm with you. This was the first time in all of 2017 I watched something on TV live. With the whole family sitting around together, that never happens! Only Doctor Who can do that. Plus it helps that the episode was "brilliant!"
I can understand that thinking behind the license fee and the BBC even though I don't agree with your thinking. It pays for much more than what it seems. UK TV would be in a terrible state with the BBC, it would be all commercials, sponsorship, product placement, non-TV companies making and deciding what happens in TV shows, ratings would decide all etc etc. As bad and out of touch as some parts of the BBC are, we are much better with it than without it.
I’m in the US I wish I could pay a fee to get the BBC
'The Legacy of Doctor Who - That’s a good title!'
What about that’s been made - Doctor Who Legacy
It made me so happy! Thank You Moffat and Capaldi for being so brilliant during your time. Thank you so much! :)
Can't wait for Jodie Whittaker and Chibnall!
I just realized that Mark says that he brought Jon Pertwee's jacket down, "on the last day (of filming), yesterday". Yesterday! You were there that long ago and that close to the day, Christel?! Now I got something else to be jealous of
I could listen to Steven, David and mark talk all day
Completely amazing christmas special really perfect made me cry my eyes out
Thank you for subtitles!
"Chris made me!" That whole bit is fantastic.
Where is this for series 11. Hope it comes back for series 12
Well, it's a little early here in the States, but why not, it's not like I've never skipped to the last page before....
Also: Why does he keep regenerating with theTARDIS in flight? He has to know by now that's a bad idea!
The way Twelve looks back at himself is me looking back at old videos of myself from 5 years ago and questioning why.
amazing just pure gold and I don't normally cry when watching stuff on tv, I almost cried near the end :`(
I’m still crying 3 hours later 😭😭😭😭 Peter Capaldi will be missed so much by me 😔😔💙💙
This episode was so wonderfull! I loved the little Clara moment.
Yeah, but, I wanted more of Her Majesty Souffle Girl at the end.
it was something special. yes. thx, your everything.
LOVED IT! And keep on making the aftershows :) Goodbye Steven and Peter and everyone else who may not be involved in this magical world again, thank u so much for everything
Loved Jodi right away. Really looking forward to seeing what she and Chibnall have in store for us.
And it looks like we're getting a new desktop theme! I hope it has more round things. I love the round things.
Nick Piers what are the round things
No idea. =D
"Don't eat pears." twelfth doctors last words. (Also, you spelled jodie wrong, so all I can see is jodie as a jedi_
Whoops. Heh, so I did.
i'm pitcuring it now, a jedi in the tardis
Loved it! Although Capaldi did go on a bit at the end.... I wouldn't have minded, but I was dying for the loo!!!
“Oh Brilliant!”
And *that* was the moment that Jodie won me over as The Doctor. 😍😂
*Regret intensifies*
Well she didn't win anyone else over
That's cool that the first scene Peter filmed was during "Deep Breath" and the last scene he filmed was the regeneration in "Twice Upon a Time".
Seriously, everytime I see David Bradley as the First Doctor in the wide shots, I keep thinking for a moment that really is William Hartnell even though he died way back in 1975.
Oh, and I liked that they credited the actors from "The Tenth Planet" in the end credits. I had a feeling they would credit Hartnell, but had no idea they would also credit Anneke Wills, Michael Craze and the writers Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis.
That's nice of David to say he'd be delighted if he was asked to appear alongside Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.
Ah, so Christel got to say "Don't forget to subscribe to the official Doctor Who UA-cam channel." this time.
Haha "Consider it blown." I Love Moffat
I loved the episode but I'm just a little sad that they didn't complete that scene in the 50th anniversary.
2:33 is the fans' reaction to the past 2 series
The past two series have been good, though.
Too true.
Such an absolute awesome show that I have loved for 40-years. Keep up the fantastic job!
I AM CRYING RIGHT NOW!
SuperWhøLøck is my life That thumbnail’s hella dope...
icecream is nice I looooove Life is Strange
SuperWhøLøck is my life I figured lol. It’s pretty amazing...
I enjoyed the commentary but I really wanted to hear more of David Bradley answering questions. I'd love to see him in the 55th or the 60th anniversary specials. He filled me with so much nostalgia I almost forgot Peter was regenerating.
That final scene in No Man's Land really made me well up.
I love how Rusty was in it
All hail the memory of the Brigadier
I loved it, my only gripe is that it lacked a wee bit of omph when needed , in build up to conclusion it just went really flat.. But final scene with Jodie Whittaker had me sat up lol
Capaldi's speech to Bill, Nardole and Clara brought me to tears. It was beautiful. Thank you Peter and the rest of the fabulous DW team for making me laugh and cry over the past 3 years. I can't wait to see more of Jodie!
An actually good Christmas special of Who. A Christmas miracle I say.
A good end, and a frightening new beginning for Chibnail.
Also, the musical callbacks are great, they should keep that in most episodes
I honestly don't know how long this comment will go on for...
I've still got 18 minutes left...
Thanks Peter, while I haven't enjoyed all of your episodes none of that is because of you. You always put in a phenomenal performance regardless of the quality of the scripts. At least if I'm not having that much fun you are. You're so the Doctor in many ways you worked to embody him inside and outside of the show. You have been the best Doctor for a long time.
I know you're unlikely to see this but if you do thank you Peter for 4 years of adventures in time and space with a sensational doctor created by one of the best actors to play the Doctor .
Im in tears... Invisible hair 😥😥😥😭😭😭 I love you moffet but why did you make her drop the ring! WHY DID YOU MAKE HER DROP THE RING! River please meet your wife!
love mint she's dead, 100% dead and her story I'm afraid appears to be done and concluded emphatically
Pyro91 Not necessarily. She is still a resurrectable pattern of information in the Library's computer. It should be a sinch especially with this episode's antagonists.
That ring wasn't a wedding ring, it was a recreation of the First Doctor's magic ring.
Yes, River can still return and the actress said she would be open to that. Still, I feel the River's story started and ended beautifully. I feel a bit strange bringing it back. I guess it's time to let it die.
It would be great to have River back but also it would feel a bit strange. Since the 55th anniversary is coming up maybe they can have a big story line including some of the doctors from the past or some of the companions coming together like they did with Tennant during season 4.
perfect episode! everything you wanted
Was the shot of 12th's ring falling off 13th's finger symbolic? It was so subtle I honesty couldn't tell. Moffat bowing out is the best Xmas gift this fandom has gotten in years.
I'm calling it, this is another closest we'll get to DW Confidential.
I really want to know if Capaldi did a speech after his golden rap!
Nice outfits Christel by the way ☺
I want that Tardis console bong that’s sitting on the table
David Bradley is a national treasure
I must admit, it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
Oh, god, that was good. Just watched it on Iview.
Wait, but since Nardole appeared at the end as one of the Testimony, does that mean he died defending the villagers from the Cybermen in the Doctor Falls.
Dennis Lai 290
The testimony thing wasn't the actual people, just the memory of them. So nardole is still on the ship, bill is with heather
The testimony was created billions of years into the future but also given that time moved differently in the ship where Nardole was with the villagers he probably died while trying to move them from one floor to the other.
I think, new doctor will be cool. (Just look at her face after regeneration, fantastic)
I wonder if "Oh brilliant" will become her catchphrase? Since Ecclescake only Cspaldi hasn't had one, not that I think the Doctor needs one.
lwaves Capaldi had shut up and pudding brain.
+Joshua V. Harding Out of context, in my notification, your reply read very different to the reality. ;-)
Yes, I suppose he did with ;shut up' but he only used 'pudding brain' once, didn't he?
Joshua V. Harding Respectfully, every Doctor (and companion) says shut up. The Twelfth Doctor never had a catch phrase that I can recall.
Awesome episode and beautiful regenerations
The red on your Jacket is beautifully nice and the silver bow tie fits perfectly with the red.
Jenna and Maisie are tiny, miniature people. You put them near the door its absolutely fine.
Clara: i find it absolutely offensive.
Thank you for the video and of course thanks to Stephen and his acting friends. However I do wonder, considering Steven's encyclopedic knowledge of Doctor Who will ever be able to keep Doctor Who from his thoughts in his new life outside.
I'm in 2 minds about this episode.
It was a good one, but still left a *lot* of loose ends that I don't ever envisage being tied. (Uploading memories to a computer is copy/paste not cut/paste - the original still exists).
I am looking forward to the next series, but autumn? This really should be sooner rather than later.
Colin Jones Yeah, Fall feels like forever. Almost like that entire year that they took off in 2016.
It made no sense that the so-called Testimony characters were making new words, actions, memories in real time, interacting with the Doctor, not just showing memories.
daffy deel if your present is not based on everything from your past, maybe I would agree. But if there was sufficient programming to capture a person into data, then it should replicate the next actions that previously human mind would make with accuracy. But every successive action has an obvious bias towards not having a human body.
I want this kind of thing about/for Thirteen/Jodie!!!
i love that it was Peter that suggested to have David Bradley play the Hartnell Doctor
I'm going to Miss Peter! I'm a baby Whovian. He is My Doctor. He Has played the Doctor In Every Episode I've seen Live. I have loved all the doctors. But Peter Is my Live Doctor. I cant wait to see what Jodie brings.
I think The Christmas Miracle in WWI was a Beautiful Touch to this Episode. What a way to send off Peter!!!!
I loved this episode! What a great way for Peter to leave the role. Jodie's entrance reminded me so much of Matt's and I am really looking forward to where she takes it now.
Plus finding out who the Captain was made me me shed a tear I have to admit. It was so good to see the legacy of that certain family starting out in this episode. Well done Steven, I loved this episode so much.
i am a weeping angel when it comes to Steven Moffat! I so love him.
She'd be a good Doctor down the line, she's got that vibe to her
2:13 Ah, Chris. Why, Chris, why?
Can New Who go *one* regeneration without the Tardis crashing and/or exploding?
The idea of a perfect copy of a memory thinking it, too, was the person was seen in Rebel Flesh, as well. quite nicely done.
as I am older, I don't get so sad when older people die as I did when I was a child. It is terribly sad when someone dies in a tragic accident, or a child has a terrible illness. but, when an older person who has lived a full and good life, passes away, I prefer to say, "They Won". none of us gets out of this alive. We all owe G-d a death. even the incarnations of The Doctor, each in their time. and it feels like a death. "He stops and some new bloke goes sauntering away" I once heard it described.... but, the better way, I think, of looking at an elder who has passed and who lived a full life is something I have heard from the Jewish Community, "May their memory be a Blessing to you". and, that seems very like the way this episode was written. we are all stories in the end. we are not the fullness of humanity or even the fullness of our families. we are someone else's history. and that means, our story is also part of someone else's story.
“Just destroy rlly good things Chris”
Wow that aged well didn’t it 🤣.
That Episode was AMAZING "Laugh Hard, Run Fast, Be Kind, Don't Turn... -Peter CapaldiI Miss You PeterAnd Go Well Jodie...
Falls out TARDIS. Hits ground. Dies. Regenerates again
Abdullah Noir PLEASE! Give us someone better than Whittaker! Boy or girl I don't care, just give us someone who feels like the Doctor
I felt the same thing with smith and Capaldi, They both turned out just fine.
JODIE WHITTAKER IS GOING TO BE BRILLIANT
epiccarrot88
She's literally said 2 lines as the Doctor. We've seen barely anything of her iteration. Give it a chance
Will there be fish fingers and custard?
I love the tardis console lava lamp I need it now
It's a bit old having the TARDIS blow up, should let it survive a regeneration occasionally
