Doctor Who this is so exciting!!! I can’t wait to buy and read 💕💕💕💕🎊🎊
i remember my first ever episode was rose and i was 3 when it aired. My Dad has been watching since Tom Baker, i love everything they have done with the show and growing up with all the doctors. Bonded with so many of the characters that were on screen. Thankyou Russel and Steven.
Read the whole of RTD's "Rose", loved the new additions! Now onto Moff's "The Day of the Doctor"! Wish I could novelise Toby Whithouse's "School Reunion"...
Doctor Who how about an audible sponsorship?
I recently read The Day of the Doctor book. I loved it. If I could describe it i would say the episode itself is its own thing and the book takes on a life of its own. I had a blast reading it. Can't wait to read Twice Upon A Time and the rest of the books.
Update : I finally read Twice Up On A Time and I loved it. I am loving these novelizations. I am now reading The Christmas Invasion. I hope more episodes can be done this way as well. With ton of added backstory as well.
It's like having two incarnations of the same Timelord hanging out and enjoying their company lol
207 thumbs up and the comment could have been written much better.
This aged well
I could easily watch these two banter together about their times on Who for ages. Witty and wonderful chaps, both of them.
I love how humble they are. They don’t look back at their work with rose-colored glasses, but with a focus on how to improve. And it just feels like there’s no friction like there is with the fans of their eras, they just really respect each other. They’ve both got flaws in their eras, but I always felt like they understood the Doctor on a deep, deep level and recognized why Doctor Who was special. It also gives me hope for how RTD might try to help set up the future of the show beyond his return.
they really did.
They understood the power that the Doctor has but they also understood that the doctor is NOT actually a hero. He's not the hero of the universe nor does the doctor actively go looking to be. The doctor was a man who stole a tardis for fun - he did that for a laugh. The doctor is essentially the passerby who is just too compassionate to walk away.
But along with that kindness comes a lot of cruelty and twisted morality and anger and rage that the doctor usually keeps well-hidden along with his crippling grief and loneliness.
I think Steven Moffat did it best though but Russell was good too.
But there were so many moments in Moffat's run where I think he perfectly captured the depth of the doctor's loneliness.
This. Just all of this. I personally prefer Moffat’s era over RTD’s, but I’ll happily point out the criticisms of some stories in each and enjoy others in each. Both added so much to the Doctor and show and I’m glad they were show runners at their respective times. RTD really did seem to have a great relationship with Moffat with letting him introduce River Song in series 4 (setting up one of the best characters in the show and a thread that connected 3 Doctors in show (and all of them in big finish)).
Some people online dont see those who make fiction as people. There has to be some sort of war between the showrunners or the doctors, when usually the reality is that everyone is cool with each other.
"with a focus on how to improve"
Steven's entire run on the show would beg to differ.
@@ginge641 You come here exclusively to complain? Fuck off bitch.
These two have such a hilarious chemistry. I could listen to them talking about Doctor Who for hours.
can we just get a podcast where they go through the series and talk earnestly about the episodes
please
They should totally do a fan-chat type thing. And reactions to the new series under Chibnall. My sides are aching from "You're inventing new characters just to off them!"
@@crystalsoulslayer Better yet, I’d pay to see them react to their own episodes. They show such a humble and honest analysis of their work here
They have the most amazing rapport and chemistry, bouncing off each other like electric sparks. They should have a TV Series together!
Maybe written by Peter Davison in the vain of "The Five(ish) Doctors" perhaps?
Bless your hearts x
Is that your suggestion for the Title of their two man series? Russell & Steven travel the British Isles in 'Moffat Has Killed The Show' (or The MHK Show, for short)
What vile disrespect you express. I am positive you have created nothing of worth in your own life and are therefore not best placed to savage gentlemen who have steered New Who into being a global success.
You see, that's the very point. You've done nothing to me personally, so I am completely unjustified in making harsh personal comments about you. Learn from that next time you post really horrible personal comments about others who have done nothing to you personally.
Moffat "Yours had funny backstories and such beautiful characters"
RTD: "On a council estate. Yours had wonderful twists and creatures every other page - on Galiffrey."
The difference between them as showrunners xD Together they'd be unstoppable.
Exactly why i hope RTD gets Moffat to write an episode or two in his new era. I don't care if he's the ONLY returning writer among all new people.
@@TomGallagherSuperboyBeyond Couldn't agree more - Moffat & RTD working together on Blink resulted in one of the best Doctor Who episodes that ever aired.
@@DrPandachaun Yep, together they made some real magic.
@@DrPandachaun Moffat wrote Blink by himself. Last minute. And even rushed it because he was so late.
Idc what anyone says that man is an actual genius
@@juliall255 hasn't RTD outright said that Moffat was one of the few guest writers that needed hardly any edits to their scripts? I think the biggest edit was that Moffat wrote the Girl in the Fireplace with Eccleston in mind so some changes had to be made so it'd suit Tennant.
Now that RTD is coming back to the show, its both reassuring and lovely to see he never lost his enthusiasm for it when he finished as showrunnee.
RELEASE THE 90-MINUTE VERSION OF TWICE UPON A TIME
Release the Moffat cut
9:45 Wild to hear Steven and Russell basically sum up their respective runs on the show in less than a minute.
Russell's realised characters and human centre. Steven's big scale twists and adventurous outlook.
I’m a Moffat interview
But probably not the one you were expecting
Night Of The Doctor Refrence
The Eight Doctor said
I’m a Doctor
But probably not the one you were expecting
@@cypt6411 Thanks mate we all upvoted it just due to random bodily spasms before you explained that
@@LukasOfTheLightI haven’t seen Night Of The Doctor since it came out, so appreciated the comment above you explaining it
RTD: I have all the editions neatly chronologically-ordered on my desk.
Moffat: The books are kicking about somewhere, I'm sure.
hahaha
I think in 40 years we will have an animated DVD release of the lost 3rd steven moffat interview.
I think you might have just won this Comment Section, possibly the entire Doctor Who Channel. Winning the Internet is such an outrageous feat that I hesitate to ascribe it to anybody, though, so I won't.
@@AhsimNreiziev quite correct
We need a Big Finish adaptation
"Yours is all Gallifrey and timey-wimey and mine is set on a council estate and a shop" That couldn't have described their respective eras any better
Can Russell and Steven just have there own show on the channel where they talk? Be it about life or old Doctor Who? That would be so cool...
YES! This.
Although I could see how they might both be a bit tired of being involved with the show in any official capacity (especially Steven, given that he's left more recently and stayed on significantly longer)..
Which is a shame, because they're both brilliant, and them together only multiplies the awesomeness.
I wish those fans who side with RTD or Moffat in some sort of made up war over who was best show-runner, could watch this video and realise we can all get along.
Rhys Speight Indeed. There's no massive difference between them at the end of the day.
Alex Jefford yes therevis, davies has talent, moffat has none.
Ugh, well, at least you tried, Rhys. There are some in those camps who just won't accept it.
I think the responses to this comment prove that there's toxicity on both sides, and that they'll never get along.
Couldn't agree more. They are both great writers. RTD brought our Doctor Back to us and helped make it huge again. Moffat has written some of the best Doctor Who stories ever yet a lot seem to focus on his poorer stories more
"The Two Showrunners" Soon in cinemas
Written by Peter Davison and directed by Matt Smith.
Would kill for a World Enough and Time/Doctor Falls novel
Mgooy YES
Still waiting for Part 3 of the Moffat interviews 🤔🤷
How many months have we been waiting now?
Thought I was the only one waiting
Every hundred years, a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain.
Nitroblast you legend
Me too! desperate to see it
I loved watching this, the two of them have such great chemistry, I would happily listen to them talk about the show for days.
The novels themselves are great, I've read them all bar Twice Upon A Time and I love how even though I know the stories inside out, I am still finding new things, I'm glad they aren't just the same stories regurgitated.
Haven't read Rose yet, but I really love how Moffat did The Day of the Doctor novelization. The switching narrators and timelines are really effective. I also really appreciate how he added in context for how the Doctors got to the place where we first see them in the televised episode (especially Ten, as his context includes my favorite character). The moment of the climax is also beautifully done.
"You two shouldn't both be here at the same time"
I'm dying
I really like the new "Don't forget to click below" outro! :)
They're doing it right. Like when they did a video about Tom Baker and had Tom do the message. I always said: "Have a subscribe message that is related to the video".
That was lovely! Two old friends and fellow fans (who somehow ended up running the show) geeking out together. Just wonderful.
It’s so interesting how they point out the distinctions in their focus - Russell with really well fleshed out backstories for characters and Moffat with xtra twists and nuanced plots.
What a room to be in! I need more of the two brilliant boys together.
Marvel: Avengers: Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover ever
Me, an intellectual:
6:23 The laughter from both Moffat and Davies!
PLEASE KEEP MOFFAT AND DAVIES FOR THE AFTER CREDIT SCENE
Please give these gents their own show! Marvellous to finally see the double act of Davies and Moffat taking centre stage! A tour beckons surely! :-)
I love these little showrunner interviews with multiple showrunners. I wish we could get one where the 3 modern showrunners talk with Classic Showrunners, although I think Philip Hinchcliffe is the only one who still lives.
Wasn't Douglas Adams a showrunner? That would've been awesome.
I love seeing these two writer/producers not taking themselves or their work overly seriously, talking shop, teasing each other, and handling the questions so well. Great insights into writing for Doctor Who in different media. Really good stuff; so glad we got this interview.
Great hearing from these two. Now that the Target novels are re-established, maybe RTD can actually do his Gridlock one, and Moff can do another one as well!
I'd like Davies to do one for Midnight, and Moffat really needs to turn Heaven Sent into a book.
Russell and Steven, you both have changed my childhood forever. Thank you. :)
It’s really great seeing these two together. It’s a shame that they haven’t written a story together, I’ve been wanting that for ages. Moffat and Davies bounce off each other really well, especially as fans. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten a chance to read their novels since they won’t be released in America till next month but I’m super excited to check them out.
This is actually a bit like 2 Doctors from different eras meeting. 2 creative genius whovians like these 2, I could watch all day
Together at last.
elzeus13 I didn't know they loved together for 10 years!
These two should start a podcast I’d listen the hell out of that
Russell T Davies AND Steven Moffat on screen? Fantastic!
I still wish RTD would someday write a new episode. It could be interesting to see how it would turn out under another showrunner.
Well well well…
you got your wish
This has aged absolutely magnificently.
This comment aged well
What about the final part of the solo Moffat interview???? I can see the channel favouriting loads of comments but ignoring ones like this. Why?
EDIT: This interview was still excellent btw
Adam glad I'm not the only who spends every waking second of their life wondering this
Are we ever gonna get the 3rd part of that Steven Moffat farewell interview, or has that been lost in the Vortex?
Two of the biggest legends are together I love Russell because he did the dalek episode and stevon moffat for the best Christmas specials
Moffat's episodes are so intricate and interesting and interlocked
They cut 30 minutes from Twice Upon a Time? Man, now i wanna see the extended edition. Even if the VFX are unfinished. I'd watch a workprint happily.
Oh but I loved Gridlock.
Definitely one of the best stories from the RTD era.
Around 9:46 when they start comparing writing styles makes so much sense when reflecting on the differences in both eras of the show.
Both of my boys here.
Criticise either of them but I think they r both the absolute perfect choices to write Doctor who, simply because they both love it and understand it so much.
Moffat and Davies are like an old married couple, but not the kind that fight. The kind you talk to and are like "aww" after you leave them.
I will say that the Twice upon a time novel written by Paul Cornell answered a very long standing question I’ve had for decades as to Why the first Doctor was looked up to by the other Doctors and why he tended to solve their shared problems. When it was addressed in here I felt such relief-! My gratitude to Paul for putting me out of my misery
...OK now I'm going to have to read it, dammit
What was the answer that Paul gave?
I would rather 3 hours of these two together than 3 episodes of multiple doctors together
Loved watching these two talking together! Thank you for uploading. All it needed was a cutaway to their respective partners saying to each other: “They drag you all this way for a book launch and then leave you on the sidelines just when things get interesting”. :)
Watching this again recently, it struck me just how great these two, with their brilliant minds and senses of humour , would have been as incarnations of the Doctor.
Well in order to write the Doctor well you have to have a good understanding of them. And I think something that certainly comes with understanding them is being at least a little bit like the doctor themselves.
Oh I do adore these two...
I hope Steven will do some other novelizations, because TDotD was great.
'you two, shouldn't both be here at the same time' ...great sneaky the Five Doctors 1983 quote in the 1st 10 seconds, not sure either Moffat or RTD noticed. very cool
It's so awsome seeing RTD back talking about Doctor Who!
I wouldn't be surprised if these two decided to get married one day.
Wait they cut out 30 minutes of ‘Twice Upon a Time’?? Will that ever be released because that sounds really interesting
I remember watching a behind the scenes feature that aired alongside the special in cinemas and it showed more recreations of The Tenth Planet with the Mondasian Cybermen. Would've loved to see that in the episode.
And I would've loved to see more scenes of the story recreated, but it's already cool that we had we a re-enactment of the regeneration scene at the end.
I wouldn't want to change anything, as that is not how it was originally broadcast. It should be a proper recreation of the events as seen on TV.
Did any of the cut material make the DVD? Anyone own it to confirm?
Hell yes, Backstory makes the world and characters even more interesting and insightful, especially if the character is captivating. Glad they mentioned the importance flushing stories out.
If Russell T and Moffat can get along, why can't their fans do the same?
because fanboys are stupid... or, using 12's words: " humanity is doomed to never learn from its mistakes"
Can we have Heaven Sent novelized next?
I'd love these to become like a bi-yearly event, adapting four stories every time
This is great
Wow just looked at my notifications and it said "doctor who loves your comment" I was nearly sick with excitement... The doctor likes me hahahahaha
Can't wait to read these, just gotta finish reading 'Delta & The Bannermen' first.
I agree with them on backstories though, Divided Loyalties is one of my favourite DW novels. It really gives the Toymaker a proper origin story. :D
Splendid fellows, both of them.
I'm so excited that he's back
Day of the Doctor is my favorite episode of all time.
I love the Moff and RTD! Brilliant, thank you so much for this :D
This is wonderful. Two of the nicest guys you could meet. And Tom's great too!
Where part 3 of the Steven Moffat interview
Christel is no longer host, so I think the Fan Show has just been axed.
Oh, so that's what happened. To be honest, I've been visiting this channel for months hoping to see it released :p
Lost in the Vortex, apparently.
Rowan Crump - but why axe it mid-way through a 3 part series when part three is already recorded?! It’s madness.
Plus, why record but never upload it? Even if the fan show was axed, they still finished the interview.
I love that the interviewer hardly has to ask a question... :)
This interview is literally perfect Thank you SO much for this!!!!
“Oh that’s how you do it!” 😂 Jesus that made me laugh so hard haha
I lovei it. I bought my 3 books of Twice Upon A Time, Rose and The Day of The Doctor. In english. But i'm from Brazil, it will be lovely if you bring the books for here. All the fans here will love it. Since 2015 we dont have any new book in portguese and thousand of people want it too much. Allons-y.
these two gave us two great doctor who David Tenant and Matt Smith and two masterpiece episode Blink and Midnight
In one word: Fantastic!
Great chemistry together.. I could listen for hours about the behind the scenes...CHEERS
I LOVE DOCTOR WHO
I LOVE DOCTOR WHO (seasons 1-10)
OMG DAVIES AND MOFFAT TOGETHER AT LAST - THIS IS ALL I NEEDED
Brilliant, they make a good double act
The net worth of Russell T Davies is 5 million. Deserves more.
Steven Moffat is worth 30 million. That’s about right.
These two men have inspired me if chibnill dosen't cause the show to be cancelled I want to write on Dr who like these two amazing writers
PLEASE come back Russel and Moffat to help this show from dying again!
Interesting how so many Dr Who fans used to thrash Moffat into the ground every week over his stories and production of Dr Who. They even had a pop at RTD for his over reliance on classic Dr Who villains. Now in 2021, all of them are begging RTD and Moffat to return. You see, better the devil you know. You don't know what you have until it is gone.
@@johnking5174 it’s because they’re good writers and understood the Doctor’s character, and they wrote good realistic dialogue and built to big moments that they earned. They’ve both written bad episodes but they were few
@@luke8801 As I have said, better the devil you know.
Imaging these two co-writing an epic two-parter...make it happen, chibs!
2 of the most important episodes of the new series in my opinion.
I bought three last Sunday. Couldn't get Rose sadly but I will
I love doctor who , thats its the way how i learning english
Good English.
Steven Moffat, RTD, and Peter Capaldi would be a dream team for Doctor Who.
peter capaldi also played the 12 doctor
RTD and Moffat need their own show talking about Doctor Who.
Never forget!
8e_Docteur I am the fastest man alive.
These 2 are such great friends that I could totally see them be a married couple
RTD is very charming and charismatic.
4:13 a Weeping Angel movie would be great
Should have been Heaven Sent!
That would of been AMAZING!!!
I think that woould work even better as a novel then an episode. You could explore what's going on in the Doctor's head in more detail.
YES
Oh please let these two have a regular show together...
I have only read Day of the Doctor so far, but it is absolutely brilliant. It is poignant and funny (very, very funny) and exciting...I can't recommend it enough.
These two should write all of the novels!!
This was fantastic! Those two are legends! Can't wait to see what Chibnall brings!
I could listen to these to for ages 😂
