If we would count it differently - newborns would be one years old from the start and the first decade of modern era would start at year -1).

@@DanTheMan2150AD At least he got a mention, not just in the video but also in the comments. Just goes to show that he's an integral part of fandom to many.
Now is the appropriate time to relate how I saw Power of The Daleks for the first time in cinemas after having finished the first Doctor literally the day before, and my friend didn't tell me what episode was next after The Tenth Planet till we had finished. This is also after having watched only three epsiodes of new Who before the First Doctor, so I went in really knowing nothing. It was fantastic.
So something missed here is how Class was aired in America. It didn't air in 2016 -- like it did in the UK -- but rather it aired the next year, alongside Series 10. Other than that, a great video and an equally educating recap!
I remember hating Clara for a long time because of how she disliked the "new doctor". As a long-time fan, I had become use to embracing the new regenerations as they come, but I remember ranting about it to a friend one day after classes and he laughed at me, saying "What? You hate her because she doesn't like the new regeneration? The first time you saw the Doctor regenerate you were devestated." I realized how hypocritical it was for me to dislike her XD and I now hold a respect for her character. She went through what all young whovians experience when they see their dashing and dorky and wonderful Doctor become a stranger for the first time. It takes awhile to realize the Doctor is still fundamentally the same dashing and dorky and wonderful alien we can count on to take us on an adventure whenever we need them.
Doctor Who has become my favorite TV show! Love all the doctors and companions for their quirkiness and adventurous spirit. Capaldi is my favorite doctor. Every Doctor brings something new to the character and each episode takes me to exciting places and times. Love the animation epidoes being done and the audio dramas available. As a 60+ year old, I hope I'll be watching Doctor Who well into my most senior years!
Loved it, What about classic who being shown on the horror channel in 2014 and also being shown on twitch airing 12 hours of doctor who episodes a day for 20 days

Thanks for such video! I started watching dw in 2019 and since then I’ve been mainly interested in 2005-2010 era so it was nice to learn something! Funny it was my childhood and I remember seeing some of the dramas on the internet
You forgot to mention the 2013 docudrama, An Adventure In Space and Time (written by Mark Gatiss). And the controversial tweets made by ex-writer Gareth Roberts in 2017.
I think 2010-2013 was the peak of Doctor Who popularity in the US; I remember jumping and screaming during The Day of the Doctor, there were tons of DW UA-camrs, and there was a whole DW section in my local Barnes & Noble full of Adipose plushies and Sonic Screwdrivers. Now, there’s just a couple DW things here and there.
I still remember how it was this decade that I got into doctor who. With some of my first episodes being Asylum of the daleks and the second part of daleks take Manhattan
I'm fine with it in execution, and unless you want to go against the lore of Neil Gaiman (he mentioned gender-fluidity in "The Doctor's Wife") it's pretty canon, but I can see where you're coming from. I can hardly imagine post-Timelord Academy Ace regenerating into a man because she's been played by a single actress for so many decades (similar to the granddaughter Susan), and a similar precedent exists for all Doctors being male. But especially with the formula Chibnal's selected (a family unit like the fifth doctor era) there isn't much problematic with the Doctor being a woman, and Jodie's really grown on me over time, so in execution any gripes I'd have with a female Doctor have been avoided. But I'm curious what you think is conceptually wrong with a female Doctor. This comes from a relatively nuWho fan by the way, though in my top three Doctors only Eccleston is nuWho and my favorite companion by a mile is Jamie McCrimmon.
In 2017 I said the same thing. But here in 2019, after all this time watching Whittaker, I really really love it. Outta curiousity, what about it don't you like?
@PikaCinema Yeah, I try my best to not judge concepts when I find in execution they can work. With Jodie I was worried they'd mess her up, than I saw the train scene in her first episode and I was like "She's the Doctor, everything's cool!" I also don't particularly like the idea of a romantic Doctor in love, but when I see twelve and River together my heart melts. So in other words, great job Jodie, and everyone who's built her character over the past 2 years TV or otherwise, to remind me why I love seeing something new in Doctor Who!
@@ashleymartin7125 Co-creator, there were another two co-creators, CE Webber and Donald Wilson (the men who built up and fleshed-out the characters from Newman's 'old man in a time machine' one-note) and they never mentioned anything like that.
Hi Josh, just wanted you to know, I am the person who created the graphic that was used to complain about Capaldi's Sonic Sunglasses in that tweet. It was used WITHOUT my permission or knowledge (I had no idea until now that anyone had taken it) and it was obviously created before the War Doctor episode aired (you can see on the right-hand bottom side that it is from 2013). I just want you to know I don't support the views of this tweet--I liked the sonic sunglasses. Thanks!
25:51 I knew there was a multi-Master story, which was the main reason I rewatched the whole of the revival, but I forgot about the story by the time I reached season 10 and only remembered when Simm pulled the mask off
I watched the 50th anniversary episode when it aired on the ABC. I tuned in early and caught the end of the news...which featured a clip from the show, revealing Tom Baker's guest appearance.
Another great video. It's been a decade of ups and downs for Doctor Who, but I think it has had more ups than downs and it has certainly ended the decade on a high note.
I love Dark Water and the horrifying twist about the conscious dead people, but the complaints were totally warranted- it's a family show and imagine if you were a child watching that scene after someone close to you had been cremated
I love this! I became a fan in Feb 2012 when a friend of mine showed me 'An Unearthly Child' and I instantly fell in love with this amazing series. despite having a rocky relationship with the series after Capaldi announced he was leaving (as Capaldi is "My Doctor") I stayed with it an really enjoyed Chibnall's "Packed TARDIS" and how he mimicked Season 1 of Classic Who, even down to thematic story structures. I'm glad to be able to look back at the past 8 years of my life and say "Doctor Who has taught me how to be a better person", which considering I started watching the show when I was 12 could be seen as either a positive or really pathetic but who cares.
Compare the reveal at the end of Spyfall to see a spoiler kept under wraps, compared to end of the World Enough and Time. This twelfth series, the big reveals have much more impact because they weren't spoiled ahead of time.

Charles Norton goes into detail into why it's a feature not episodic here: gallifreybase.com/gb/threads/shada-animation-part-3.254017/page-3#post-11699257
"No it wasn't our brief. You might have wanted it to be, but that wasn't what we were trying to do at all... by the time 'Shada' finally reached post-production in 2017, that director was me and it was my final cut that you got... it's final finished form is as a 137 minute feature length drama."

This video gave us a great clip of Josh saying "we live in a society"
Why’d you do this to me Josh? That after party... spine chilling. That footage of Ian Levine was perfectly used. Also the shade thrown towards Bowlestrek, perfection. But no mention of the K9 movie?
What K-9 movie? That'll never happen! haha
Timequake is an idea, not a reality, it'll never happen haha
Josh Snares not with that attitude young man! Also you started watching in 2009? Weak, my first episode was Dalek back in good old 2005, I was only 4.
You did a great job putting this together, Josh. 👍🏻
I'm only 15 minutes into this video and I'm a crying mess, thank you for making this.
Same tbh
I think I still have the leaked first capaldi episode sitting on a hard drive somewhere black and white and all
Great video and brings back lots of fun times. Thank you for sharing your great work and passion for all things Dr Who. Merry Christmas Josh!
How could you not mention the fiveish doctors
Calling it now: next doctor will be ginger.
Loved it,
What about classic who being shown on the horror channel in 2014
and also being shown on twitch airing 12 hours of doctor who episodes a day for 20 days
Brilliant nostalgic look back at the last ten years of Doctor Who, for me, considering 2010 was the first year I watched Doctor Who, I loved looking back at the decade, brilliant work! :)
Ohhhh thanks for the new content Josh and your excellent content (and twitter feed) overall! Happy holidays!
CLASS! Jesus Christ I forgot about that...
Why was their controversy about the third doctor’s face not being replaced in the 50th anniversary trailer?
They didn’t replace it, it’s the stand in actors face.
Josh Snares oh right
@@tobyreads It's Jon Pertwee's face overly done on photoshop. There would be no point in getting in a stand-in that looked exactly like Jon knowing that eventually, Jon's face will cover up the body-double's face.
“But it’s far from being all over” I think someone hasn’t checked the ratings/view count
Nice review Josh...it was great to see a recap of the last decade...I'm glad some amazing actors like Matt, and David have played the Doctor and that Tom made a quick cameo (the greatest Doctor EVER)...but I'm sad we are currently seeing the end of Doctor Who...I hope it can survive but the BBC has no idea the damage they are doing...
I completely forgot about graham interrupting doctor who in rose 😂 had a damn PTSD moment there
I’d say that’s a hell of a decade
Why would anyone say that the Doctor was anti ginger the doctr obviously epresses an interest in being ginger and was very disapionted he wasnt ginger, how is this a negative???? i really dont get it........
I don't find it surprising how it gradually goes downhill once Jodie and Chibs enter the ring
@Rising Horizon Gaming maybe so unless the BBC changes the entire production team for Doctor Who (in which I doubt at this stage)
Loved this video. You made applying for work far more fun.
Not many videos can keep me watching for 35 minutes, but this can!
Lmao I can't imagine even remembering what some literal who said 3 years ago.
We always get loads of doctor who experienced here in Cardiff.
And now the biggest controversy has happened. THANKS BBC
What’s the controversy over the third doctors face in the anniversary trailer? Never heard of that before.
They didn’t replace it, it’s the stand in actors face.
Paul, nor me.

29:06 actually that’s just fans of anything in general.
Personally I hate the whole female doctor thing. I'm fine with those who disagree but I just dislike it as a concept.
Did Mr Newman (the creator) say in 1978 make the doctor a woman.
Thanks!
The graphic is brilliant!
@@JoshSnares Glad you like it. I've been thinking of updating it, but just not had the time.
Also, really good content on your channel. I'm now a subscriber!
Thanks Josh. That was a great video. Now I feel incredibly old! Haha :)
Lovely video! Thank you!
So Amazon accidentally delayed the episode that criticised Amazon?
Brought it forward! Maybe they leaked it because of the low-level critique?
I was originally fine with a female doctor, but this new series is just...they've literally rewritten over 50 years of lore.
Matt Smith is and always will be my Doctor!!!
