      I was about to say that. I am sick and tired of people crapping on Canon. I get it, Canon is still a little behind in mirrorless, but so is Nikon. This is no big secret, if people want to shoot videos and think mirrorless is king, then just get a Sony. Is just ridiculous to expect superior mirrorless specs on a DSLR, it just ain't going to happen, especially in the mid-price segment. They don't need to come to channels like this to watch some Canon camera review knowing perfectly well they will crap on Canon with typical lame comments like Canon came out with a 3 year old camera 3 years late, etc. The truth of the matter is there are still a lot of situations and indeed people who would still prefer to use DSLRs, for example stills only shooters who enjoy shooting dogs and wildlife with big zooms like myself. I would like to see them slapping on a Sigma 150-600mm on a Sony A6400 or the latest A6600. That would be a horrible and massively unbalanced setup in my opinion. Plus now with the 90D, Canon leads the resolution game in this price segment with 32.5 megapixel, not even the just announced Sony A6600 has that. Then, they say but, but I am getting the Sony A7R IV. Oh good for you, it is only 3 times the price of the 90D that's all. LOL.

      To be honest 90D faces many better non-Sony competitions: XH1, XT3, G9, em1ii, etc.

    • @WarriorVideographer
      @WarriorVideographer 5 років тому +1

      @@Rascallucci Compareing the 2 a6600 & Canon 90D the problem here that people are not seeing is a6600 has improved specs but going deep into internal specs it loses by alot against the 90D especially the price point the a6600 has a old chip 24 mega pixels where the 90D has a newer chip still the 90D-isaster I'm planning to buy it anyway from a 80D user. Keep in mind a software update can bring 24p.

    • @Rascallucci
      @Rascallucci 5 років тому +1

      @Frank Feng But, those cameras you mentioned are mainly strong on video. See what I mean? This is what people keep harping on, perhaps mainly younger folks who want to vlog and become UA-camrs these days. But, there are many people I know who doesn't want to touch video because of the hassle of editing. I was joking with a friend of mine, I said may be he could shoot some fantastic fishing videos with drone shots and stuff, then suck up to his son and get him to edit it for him. LOL. I think if you try to look at the 90D more from a stills only angle including the superior form factor especially when shooting with bigger zooms or even primes, then you will see the true value of the 90D.

    Hopefully the next RP gets the performance of these new 32MP bodies. They could probably do that easily with a firmware update, seems to be a software limitation or intentional crippling and not a processor/hardware issue.

    • @The.Urban.Birder
      @The.Urban.Birder 5 років тому

      It is a sensor readout issue. That 26 MP full frame sensor is a slow readout, low DR PoS. This explains the higher burst rate of EOS R (4-5 fps) , Canon M50 (~7-8 fps) and the Canon M6ii (14 fps) using the same Digic 8 processor.

    Canon 7Dmk2 user here and I'm moving over to the Sony A9 with the 200-600mm, not so happy canon went this way, they should have done one good mirrorless that bettered the 7dmk2, the 90D is a bit of a step down. Although nice review and I'm still probably going to get the M6mk2 as a travel cam on my old Canon 100-400mk2 instead of selling it.

    And you can seamlessly adapt the ef and efs lenses with the official Canon adapter to the m mount.

  • @NeilFiertel
    @NeilFiertel 5 років тому

    I suggest that Canon wants you to buy their Optically Stabilized lenses first of all and though others now make optical stabilized lenses such as Tamron and Sigma, most will opt for Canon IS lenses. Optically stabilized lenses
    add to the cost but not hugely. Personally the diminutive size of the M series cameras make me crazy as my hands are big and the tiny controllers and so forth of any small camera is a problem for me. I would suggest ... size does matter. I think that the full frame alternatives to these cameras is another path to consider and the EOS system adapted to the R camera adds another direction and consideration one needs to think about. The M is a narrow and questionable optical path to invest heavily in unless the lightness and good quality package is a needed attribute. Realize the 90 D is really not much different in size and weight from a full frame camera. Much to consider in this time of transitions.

    The 90D looks like a decent upgrade from my 70D finally, not some minor incremental upgrade like the 77D and 80D. One minor little nitpick is they still haven't added native GPS tagging. How old is that tech now?? But the price is good, and if they'd left out the 4K video and offered it at a lower price like the M6's, that certainly wouldn't have hurt my feelings. Heck, everyone I know that's into - and knows how to shoot great video - uses an actual video camera (crazy, I know!), not a hand held DSLR, so not sure why 4k video was an absolute "must have" in the 90D. I'm glad Canon hasn't totally abandoned the DSLR completely... yet. I'll have to snag one, as it sounds like the last of the line for this line of Canon DSLRs - unless they borrow a page from the 77D and offer a 99D later. Who knows, maybe that one will have the GPS tagging! haha

    Hi ! Nice vid. I Like this Channel. Should I switch my canon 6DMk2 ( 28Mpixels ) for a canon 90D (32Mpixels ) talking about image quality ( just image quality ) Because sometimes I have to crop and zoom my images of far away subjects ( Aps-c 1.6 looks much bette to avoid cropping a lot dfor the final image)

      Not really but the lenses matter a little. They both have the same quality images from the camera but the 90D has more expensive lens options that could help produce better quality but only if you are willing to spend $1000+ on extra lenses. Otherwise get the M6 which has some awesome lenses under $500

      So they will both offer the same quality so it depends more about lenses (since they have different mounts), and size/ergonomics. The 90D does shoot 24fps in FHD with the MOV file format, no MOV in 4K, and thus no 24fps in 4K. Don't trust me, go to Canon.com EOS 90D specifications under video shooting. Why is everyone getting this wrong? Is it hidden in a menu somewhere?

      @@mylifecliched Well, i spoke too soon. A few people commented and said they could not find the reference I made. At 10Et, I was on canon.com and the specifications looked pretty good. There were two video formats .MOV and MP4. .MOV had ALL-I for two frame rates - 29.97 and 23.97. Same as the 70D. All MP4 resolutions used IPB with no 23.97 option. At 16h00, I refreshed the specifications page. Canon replaced the sheet I was looking at with a new one. No option for MOV, no option for All-I, and no option for 23.97. I am a little stunned, how can canon provide inferior video options to that of the 70D. I don't care about the container, but IPB??? and no 23.97? I'll probably wait to see what the Sony A7Siii, and look for a used 80D in the meantime.

    Why would i need to buy 90D as everyone changing to mirrorless ? Please tell me.

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  4 роки тому +1

      So basically the 90D has a "mirrorless mode" aka Live View that allows you to use the camera just as a mirrorless camera so in some ways, the 90D is the best of both worlds. The only limitation is if you are using live view, you cannot use the viewfinder on the 90D...just the screen.

    • @walkkwithhme
      @walkkwithhme 4 роки тому

      @@learningcameras but 90 will be using EFS lenses right, once world moved to EF-M lens, we wont be able to use 90D"s lenses without the adapter.

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  4 роки тому +1

      @@walkkwithhme So it does use EF-S or EF lenses on the 90D. Canon will be switching to RF lenses for everything in the future but Canon already has all the lenses you can ever need for the 90D. But yes, if AFTER the 90D you eventually got a mirrorless Canon camera, the lenses you already own will only work with adapters or you would need to get new lenses

    • @walkkwithhme

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  4 роки тому +1

      @@walkkwithhme Definitely if you want to future proof yourself with lenses, the RP will be the way to go. However in a few ways, the 90D is actually a better camera...it's faster, has better video...things like that. So if you just plan on buying 1-2 lenses, the 90D might be fine. But if you plan on stepping in to a future proof system and getting more than 1-2 lenses, the RP would future proof you there

    Does the 90D have in body stabilization ?

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  5 років тому

      Nope, but it's not possible to do that with a DSLR so not really canon's fault. One of the advantages of mirrorless technology is the ability to stabilize the sensor

    • @deanlhouston
      @deanlhouston 5 років тому

      @@learningcameras That's not true. There's absolutely no technical reason in the body stabilization tech can't be put into a DSLR. Canon simply chooses to force you over to mirrorless to get it. It only marketing tactics. And it is Canon's fault for deliberately keeping it out of DSLRs because they want to pump up the sales of their lackluster mirrorless offerings.

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  5 років тому +1

      Well, it's never been done before. I think it would be extremely difficult to have a floating sensor mechanism along with a mirror without them hitting but who knows. I'm actually a mech engineer but have never designed cameras so no clue

    • @deanlhouston
      @deanlhouston 5 років тому

      @@learningcameras I'm not a mechanical engineer, I'm an electrical engineer, but I've seen footage of these sensors, they don't move so far that they'd come into contact with the mirror which sits up away from the sensor at a 45 deg angle. Most DSLR's have a "mirror lockup" feature, and it gets used when in "Live View" mode. It's not a technical problem as to why Canon hasn't put it in the DSLRs.
