First time seeing the channel? I'm HALF PEEPS (aka peeps4321 or Samuel). I make video game animations here on UA-cam, mainly using SFM (Source Filmmaker, animation software running on Valve's Source game engine) and S2FM (Source 2 Filmmaker, the updated version of SFM running on Valve's Source 2 game engine). Most of my videos are related to Valve Software (mainly Half-Life and Portal) but don't be surprised if another franchise pops up occasionally. Starting UA-cam back in 2013, in 2020, I hit my first 1,000 subscribers (took me long enough, I know...) and subsequently hit 10,000 in 2021. My ultimate goal is to reach 100,000 subscribers. As unrealistic as that may be, I would love it if you subscribed and joined me on this journey! I hope you enjoy the content!
Half-Life is a series of first-person shooter (FPS) games developed and published by Valve. The games combine shooting combat, puzzles, and storytelling. The original Half-Life, Valve's first product, was released in 1998 for Windows to critical and commercial success. Players control Gordon Freeman, a scientist who must survive an alien invasion. The innovative scripted sequences were influential on the FPS genre, and the game inspired numerous community-developed mods, including the multiplayer games Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat. Half-Life was followed by the expansions Opposing Force (1999), Blue Shift (2001), and Decay (2001), developed by Gearbox Software. In 2004, Valve released Half-Life 2 to further success, with a new setting and characters and physics-based gameplay. It was followed by the extra level Lost Coast (2005) and the episodic sequels Episode One (2006) and Episode Two (2007). The first game in the Portal series, set in the same universe as Half-Life, was released in 2007. In 2020, after years of speculation, Valve released its flagship virtual reality game, Half-Life: Alyx. Set before Half-Life 2, players control Freeman's ally Alyx Vance in her quest to defeat the alien Combine.

Portal is a series of first-person puzzle-platform video games developed by Valve. Set in the Half-Life universe, the two main games in the series, Portal (2007) and Portal 2 (2011), center on a woman, Chell, forced to undergo a series of tests within the Aperture Science Enrichment Center by a malicious artificial intelligence, GLaDOS, that controls the facility. Most of the tests involve using the "Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device" - the "portal gun" - that creates a human-sized wormhole-like connection between two flat surfaces. The player-character or objects in the game world may move through portals while conserving their momentum. This allows complex "flinging" maneuvers to be used to cross wide gaps or perform other feats to reach the exit for each test chamber. A number of other mechanics, such as lasers, light bridges, tractor funnels, and turrets, exist to aid or hinder the player's goal to reach the exit.

So he allowed himself to get captured even before being put into the Vault, just to set the injured Vort free (to help Alyx later on)? You have some interesting ideas. This was really well done, too.
It is so well animated too. You can see the elites being confused or straight up scared. The Overwatch announcer voice even sounds scared. It seems like the Combine know who that is and that they are bound by certain rules when interacting with them, but they know that a Gman being visible to them is a BIG thing as they only show up when they want to.
one theory involving gman is pretty much that:
that for whatever reason(s) known only to gman or his employers (if such "employers" even exist in the first place), he was disappointed with how hl2 ep2 turned out with eli's death and dissatisfied with freeman's performance and wants to find a replacement. Then thats when gman notices alyx and sees something in her that makes her a worthy replacement. Knowing that her father dies in the future and that she rly cares for her father, he lets himself get captured and then waits for alyx to free him, so that when she does, he can lure her with "something you don't know that you want." ie: prevent her father from dying in hl2 ep2
@@Hyde-dg7ef Which begs the question, did the vault really contain him? was he always capable of leaving if he wanted? like if things had gone wrong and Alyx failed to rescue him or Eli warned her, what then?
@@manatipowa who knows really. Gman had the ability to travel across the dimensions and has the ability to put things into stasis. While combine technology is nothing to be scoffed at, we have no idea if the prison was really capable of containing him

The concept of the Gman setting up the events of Alyx by capping a metro is really funny to me.

In half life the gman has a black mesa suitcase maybe the g man is a human with time travel technology and is trying to play god. I think he maybe was an employee at black mesa and has stolen experimental portal tecnology.

I like how you are maintaining Gman's presence as a surgical tool rather than a force of nature, very well done.
It’s very clear he got himself captured on purpose to do two specific things. 1: Of course, save the Vort who will be important for future events…
And 2: Attention.
G-Man had to grab the Combine’s attention, so he made himself known and allowed them to see just what he was capable of. That way the Combine could focus on creating the vault in order to capture him later down the line.
By itself it’s an odd string of events that those present at the time wouldnt be able to explain, but in the future it all makes sense and connects
Yeah that in total leads to him being able to soon meet Alyx when she tries breaking "Gordon" out of the vault and ending up having him employ Alyx
I always wondered why an entity like him needs a gun in his briefcase.
I love how well thought out these things are. I can't play Alyx for a number of reasons, so I have my own headcanon (and aside from that my own very much not-canon AU stuff) so it's beautiful to see how you interpret and extrapolate what might have gone on. The lighting as usual is just ... jaw dropping. Amazingly well animated, and thought provoking. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Seeing the Elite soldiers in HD was really something.
I like to think since we have never seen the gman interact with directly/ kill a person that doing this resulted in him being punished by his superiors and his capture
He hadn’t annoyed the enemy enough, he had teleported there just to get them interested in finding out how he managed to cause that much damage in a short period.

i doubt elites would have existed. Alyx didnt encounter them so its very unlikely that elites were a thing until later. And the CItedal's alarm wasnt like that during HLA days. but still pretty good :)

This is a beautiful and well done animation, but I dont understand elites and a helicopter coming after a single person for killing a civil protection unit.. Much less the status of elites existing in this timeline or what they would canonically look like at this point in time.
I don't want to bash it because it's SO WELL DONE!!! But at the same time it doesn't exactly click for me.
Very nice work from a VFX standpoint, but the concept of G-man having to resort to such crude measures seem to run at odds with the near omnipotence of his character.

I like the idea, I just don’t think the GMan would appear like that though, I have never thought of GMan going after a simple civil protection cop just to shoot them, get sent to a prison that later gets blown up by a scientist and all that, I think it’s just weird how it happened.
Explains why Nova Prospekt looks like a bomb went off inside it.

As a transdimensional alien entity, it makes sense for the G-Man to have non-human hires, maybe this isn't the first time he places this Vortigaunt in the wrong place, at the right time. I really like that idea.
it’s interesting seeing the elites here as opposed to some more metrocops or just soldiers for (to their knowledge at the time) just one guy who did one murder, was there any particular reason for that or do i just have my time messed up?
