Lakeside never made it big across the water in the UK, but if they had, I would've been a massive fan. This is damn funky shit. Love that they put as much into the dance routine as the vocal performance. Such huge funky talent back then 😍
@@hebcole It done turned to "Hip Hop Pop" here in the U.S. the only true forms of R&B is in whatever Neo Soul that's left & in Smooth Jazz formats and folks appreciate "Real Music" overseas more than they do here in the states💯🎯
I can only imagine. We were in high school when this joint came out and whenever someone played this track on his ghetto blaster, everyone would start singing, reeling, and swaying in their seats. Some would momentarily get up and start doing the dog, or the spank, or the swan. So if we were kickin' it like that in public transit, I can only imagine the vibes you guys were generating at the actual concert.
@@czwrefsteven Maybe since the album version is longer but during that period they only done videos for the Radio Edits, it wasn't until like late 70's to early 80's when acts starting making longer videos
Great highschool jam and memories for me!!!!!! That's when the white boys and black boys got together and had a good time and didn't give a damn what color somebody was.
imho both the video and the song are superb in my opinion, way better than today's trash and super fake digital videos. Those dance moves, outfits and harmony are another level of creativity and sincerity!
You have to think of when it was made. It was so ahead of it's time. It just needs to be remastered. Other than that it is amazing! No autotune, no fake trash, and real voices and instruments. It is better than anything today.
@@hebcole During the leans years the band said Woods started to alienate himself, Wood disagreed and said he didn't understand why they weren't still performing because singing was his life. So he paid the band debts, trademarked the name and started booking gigs with back up musicians. Other member felt he did that so he could pay those musicians a flat fee and kept the rest. Wood disagrees. Shockley said he did not know about the trademark until the band booked a show and we're notified that they could not use the name because Wood owns the name. Hence the new name "Original Lakeside" that was created so the rest of the original members could still perform. They original members were upset and performed apart from lead singer Wood after that point. I saw all this on their Unsung episode...
This group was way ahead of their time.
Lakeside was one of the best bands.... they made the baddest funk songs and this is one of my favorites! Them dance moves fire!
Yes Sirrr!!!!
Oh yes! They are cutting a rug!
I damn near 4got how good Lakeside was!!
I miss this era of music so much. Pure talent and soul that is completely missing in today's era. It just sucks!
@Gildedbutterfly1976 I couldn't agree with you more Gildedbutterfily1976!🤗❤🌹🙏
Well said Gildedbutterfly1976, well said.

I love this lakeside song
Classic! Fond high school memories for me.
Old school funk is awesome !!! Love these old songs !! I love the “ Eddie “ movie version too !!!
I may have been born in 1989 but I love Old School R&B and Funk Music it's the best music ever today's music is just trash
1989! The year R&B made its transition to what became the "New Jack Swing" Era. Yeah, today, R&B is in hot pursuit; searching for an identity

I absolutely love getting gems like this recommend. So glad I taught the algorithm to feed me funk.
"Feed me funk", lololol, yes!!! I wasn't' aware of that feature. I need to learn how to do that for the genres and categories that I'm interested in.
And thanks to hebcole for uploading
Appreciate it Dr. G...
🎸🥁 I was supposed to see Lakeside at the Oakland Colosseum Arena 1980 but they cancelled! 🤘

This song always reminds me of the movie, ", Eddie""!!
All the way baby!
I wish someone had the longer version of this video!!!😢😢😢
vividly longer...
You probably would have to look for a live version, since this was done with a backing track for the single
@@GaryTisdaleFungkSta1 there are longer backing tracks for this song including the original. They should have used that.

Not aware of how they disbanded. Could you give a succinct overview?
