People just dont care, they dont dislike them, they just dont care, the logic is why do you need a wagon when you probably already have a hatchback/SUV/truck anyway, of course wagons appeal to the quirky and can be cool but theres a reason why it sorta went away.
@@Garf2O What those people don’t understand is why have an SUV? When in a wagon, you can have basically the same utility and space, better driving dynamics, better aerodynamics, less chance of rollover, less weight etc. It’s just stupid to me how an Escalade V exists, yet a car like this CTS V wagon is GONE.
I like how this guy doesn't understand that Cadillac is making pure profit on every CTS-V sold, haha. It's like he doesn't understand what the word "dud" means. And that he doesn't understand why somebody would not want a sunroof (chassis rigidity, headroom, less weight), doesn't understand that the manual transmission is STANDARD, while the automatic is OPTIONAL, doesn't understand why there is a wagon version (hint: it's not for the Europeans), seems to place the value of the car entirely inside the sales numbers (low sales numbers must mean it's terrible and people hate it... which is why the Ferrari 458 is so awful) without even bothering to mention the fact that GM only needed to sell a couple hundred of them to be in the black, and they sold THOUSANDS. He complains about the infotainment stuff saying it's like a flashback in car tech... without acknowledging that's exactly what it is. This equipment was made available in the gen 2 CTS in 2008 and obviously developed before that. That's before the iPhone even EXISTED. The fact that it even works with an iPhone is basically a miracle. That's not an excuse, it's an explanation. This system was built right before the iPhone and a couple years before Android even existed, before bluetooth streaming existed from cell phones. Obviously Cadillac isn't going to replace the entire infotainment system on the outgoing CTS model. Oh and he also didn't mention that you can use your iPhone and the OnStar app to load addresses from your iPhone's built in contacts and send them to your nav system in the CTS-V. And he complains SO MUCH about the 30 pin connector. Was GM supposed to be able to see 5 years into the future and equip the car with a Lightning connector? I mean the entire review is presented from a negative viewpoint, and that combined with all the ignorance is really disappointing. You could have mentioned that this is the only high performance wagon you can buy in the US with the exception of the Merc E63 wagon which costs $40-50k more and doesn't come with a manual transmission, you could have mentioned how the CTS-V broke the world record for the fastest 4 door sedan on the Nurburgring, you could have mentioned that the CTS-V is the world's best performance bargain, delivering supercar performance for only $60k, but no. Just whining about how the wagon sucks and nobody wants one.
You should know that a car can go through refresh cycle to accommodate latest technology. It's ridiculous for a car at this price-point to not have basic technology that a fifteen thousand dollar subcompact has.
Vernon Price how about adding a usb instead of a archaic 30 pin connector? Also adding a modern infotainment system instead of than that crappy one that was shown here.
hitman098 It HAS USB. It's right there in the center console. The 30 pin adapter comes with the car, and it plugs into that USB port. And what, specifically, isn't modern enough about the infotainment system? More specifically, what specific changes do you think could be made with just a software upgrade that wouldn't involve redesigning the entire thing from scratch? And I should also point out that Cadillac already has a new system, it's called CUE.
I own a 2012 CTS-V wagon. I had the dealer do an 18% performance upgrade (under warranty) and had the car lowered with a KW suspension kit (expensive but worth it). I added HRE wheels (10.5" on the rears...!) and I am yet to lose to ANY car. I eat up Ferraris, Lambos and Corvettes. It's hilarious. Great car overall. I like it more Han even my e63. The only negative - the tiny 18-gallon gas tank. Otherwise, who gives a damn about gas mileage. No one who buys this car worries about mpg. Go and buy a wussy Prius if you care about gas mileage.
+UberTech They are replacing the S/C in this model (Under warranty) that adds about 1-2PSI more.. Its not really a performance upgrade but rather fixing the S/C to deliver full pressure.. It adds up more HP than the stated here.
I don't want a normal station wagon. I'm glad they aren't really a thing anymore in the US. HOWEVER, this CTS-V wagon is really doing it for me. It's an awesome design that I definitely wouldn't mind having.
what a tool bag. I actually bought this car, and all I can say is that it is two scoops of complete awesomeness. I can't get into it without smiling every day. I haul my two kids, wife, and dogs in this thing while flying through twisties....what more do you want?
Mike Schmidt That's not a problem. Intake, headers+exhaust, upper and lower pullies with a good tune will EASILY get you to 700 HP. Probably more like 750. However, you should be aware that Cadillac has stopped making them and won't be making any more, ever. If you went to a Cadillac dealer TODAY, you MIGHT be able to order a new one if the ordering window hasn't closed yet, but I'm pretty sure they're done at this point. Your only option then will be trying to find a used one, which is going to be ridiculously difficult. Just saying, if you really want one, don't sit back and wait expecting to be able to find one later. From this point on, the V wagons are going to get real scarce.
+Vernon Price exactly i am trying to get one used in the next year or two. The prices are good for the autos the manuals are what cost as if they where new.
+TheKJProductionz + mike Schmidt If you are thinking of buying one I would say no time is better than now. Manuals are about the same as long as it doesn't come from a private party-who generally ask way higher than the car is worth. It will definitely appreciate one day, but right now their prices are falling.
The engine, the suspension, the brakes, the chassis, the transmissions, the grilles and body cladding, the cooling system, the aero, the wheels and tires, yeah. Very similar except for all of those things.
cooley is a great reviewer he makes the car impress him. all he does is talk pro and con and being a tech guy he knows exactly what technology he's dealing with and how well it's supposed to work.
Actually, Brian Cooley is a fan of wagons. His daily ride is a late model Ford Country Squire wagon. He owns 2. He use to own other wagons like the Datsun 510 and the Accord wagon. His review was only critical of some of the tech in the cabin and the mpg, but it sure sounded like he enjoyed the drive and the power. His tone is on the sarcastic side, so it may come off as negative bias.
One of the best American cars ever. Skip the sunroof and the auto. With the manual on the hwy you will get over 20 mpg. Under 1000 ctsv wagons out there so hold on to the one you have.
I have a 2009 G8 GT with a 6.0 V8 and My wife has a 2006 Trailblazer SS with a 6.0 V8. Personally love these big GM V8's. just a lot of fun to drive and never have to worry about lack of "passing" power. Downside is gas milage but well worth it imho. Just have to choose how you want to spend your money I guess ;-)
took you long enough to review my car ;) tech is understandably old given it first came out in 2010 and the original cts-v it is based on came out in 2008. I get about 13.8 MPG a avg but it puts a smile on me face :)
Well, I'm about to list mine for sale on eBay this weekend. 23K miles, K&W coil overs professionally installed to lower the car 2" the RIGHT way(not just Eibach springs which messes up the handling - $4500), $12K worth of new HRE wheels/tires that were built for my wagon as a test fit(amazing stance - I get comments daily), etc. It has everything but a sunroof(I'm not a sunroof fan - rarely used any I've had). It's red on black. Keep a look-out. I'll likely try eBay and the CTS-V forum. Like selling any performance car, I'll be taking a major loss but such is life.
While I like more features in the cue system. I'll take the buttons in this older system anytime over the capacative or excessive touchscreen control any day.
Wow glad I watched the whole video happy to hear you liked it. I have kids and like nice cars this could be the ticket for me like the others said when the bottom falls out of them they are a bit pricey,
Fast forwars to today, octuber 2023 and these things are selling for no less than 60k and the ones with the manual trans are sellimg for close to 100k or more. Glad i own one.
Well you can really tell that he is not getting payed to read a script, like most KBB videos. He states the problems in a car, that may or may not be an issue for you. You wouldn't go to a car dealership without having an idea on what car best suits you, would you?
Why wouldn't this car be in existence? It's brilliant! A sleeper wagon that can keep up with the best of them! It's mental, it makes no sense and thats why its fantastic.
When did I say it had a poor engine? I said, "you don't need 100 more hp when you have AWD," which means my comment about needing AWD does relate to my original statement. 1 mpg difference really doesn't matter in a comparison, but I bring up age because a new car should be more efficient. I never said one was better; both have pros & cons. Lastly, I live in Germany now, which isn't so bad with snow, but I'm from & will likely go back to Alaska, and RWD is not good there, even w/ snow tires.
On the street, you don't need 100 more horsepower when you have AWD to get you going, as the 0-60 times are fairly close. By the way, the last RS4 (in the U.S.), got 13/20 mpg according to fueleconomy.gov Oops.
I too usually like his reviews but he is way off base with this review! The CTS V will quickly become a collector car in no time at all. Im waiting for my CTS sport wagon to arrive after searching for 8 months.sooooooooo excited!
The RS4 may have worse mpg, but it's also a 6 year old car, and back then mpg didn't matter as much. A brand new car should be getting better gas mileage, but in all honesty if you can afford this car, you should be able to afford the gas. I think they're both awesome cars; i actually love the CTS-V. The reason I tend to like Audi more though is for the AWD, which comes in handy in cold climates like the one I live in.
Little secret... Anything with a manual, or the ability to be manual swapped, plus a low volume of production, can become a collectors car. Add in utility(20 years from now, this car will still haul MOST of the stuff my 2033 Mazda CX5 will), and it's almost a guarantee.
Low production, high horsepower and a NAV that hides sounds like it might be a good future collector car. Nav's from 2 yrs ago are already dated so having one that conceals is good for the future, just use a phone or a Tom Tom or something. I think if the bottom falls out on these price-wise I'll buy one.
I wouldn't call this car a dud. "Dud" implies that Cadillac actually expected to sell it in large numbers, which they didn't. Caddy broke even on development for this specific model after selling the first 6 (I know right?), which they did without issue. Lord knows I wish I could afford one.
I happen to LOVE this car...just way out of my price range. Im sure the reason it doesnt sell very well is because the people who can afford them arent into the wagon style. And with some nice exterior mods this car blows my mind with sex appeal.
Turbo4Life1217 I think you can find some CTS-V for less. Autotrader and Cars.com are great for finding CTS-Vs. The new CTS-V will have a definite price increase.
Turbo4Life1217 Agreed. I'm debating between this and the Lexus ISF. The ISF is bulletproof but we want this to be the family car. My wife wanted an SUV but there's nothing fun about that. This meets it in the middle. Gives the same gas mileage as an SUV with twice the power and fun!
I would love to have one, I think if people knew what this car is all about and how rare they are, more people would buy them. Maybe I should look for a used one.
Kevin Williams Only thing scary is seeing all the issues some of these cars have. I took a look in the forums and it's not pretty. It not engine issues but things like the diff, supercharger, suspension, so still major dollar items. Compared to the ISF this is a little worry some.
Wagons are amazing, they are so versatile, forget what Americans think I still love them. (I live in America as well by the way)
BMD86 Audi wagons though 😍😍😍😍🇺🇸❤️💯 I am also from America.

Not the gas mileage but the money you constantly spend on gas shld b a concern.

Hey can you talk about the radio for a super long time, that'd be great. Not really here for the super wagon at all.
Brian, you're absolutely right. This car will be a future classic and collectable in the configuration you said.
It already is! Try buying a six speed v wagon!!!
Hey this was filmed minutes from San quinton
This is exactly why you don't come to C|Net, the professional dorks, when you're looking for a car made of testicles and the semen of giants.
The engine, the suspension, the brakes, the chassis, the transmissions, the grilles and body cladding, the cooling system, the aero, the wheels and tires, yeah. Very similar except for all of those things.
Love this whole series.
Cars without the sunroofs are now worth more money!
Love my moms 2012 CTS-V wagon!!!
i love this car even today in 2024
The cts-v wagon actually looks sexy like the coupe and 4 door version.
I normally like his reviews, but he has no fucking clue what he is talking about on this one. Sorry, dad.
Tony Bland I agree
Tony Bland lmfao.your hilarious. I agree

The one and only wagon that I like
I like the styling. Gives it a sleeper car look.
Did you put your glasses on?
It's a CTS-V wagon. What did you think it was?

The RS6 Avant C7 is the CTS-V competitor. Not the RS4, that's why the RS4 is slower.
The wagon is my favorite body style.
7:32 Brian even laugh at his own comment haha! This car just have brutal ready horse power with that monster engine!

I'm an American, and I don't think they suck. That's why I bought one. This one, in fact.
lovin it!
Ha, I just bought one of these duds.
I bet your sorry now
what the hell is with the red Sentra doing in the intro 0:23
I've seen three of these in the four years since they built them
The best all around Car in the WORLD.

I’d love that in Australia
It has meta tag so it has HD radio
I actually really like the styling
Looks good
I love wagons, and this one is doing a alot of "it" for me. Has been for years now honestly.
Why is he complaining about the raido in a 550 hp monster? Who needs a radio with a big v8. This guy is not a car guy.
manly wagon that makes mustangs look feminine
Did Cooley just have a love/hate relationship with that wagon?
Amazing car
I love the CTS-V Wagon
I love it!
very nice
Now they worth 30-40k

what a badass automobile

Not many people feel the need for a fast wagon, I think it's cool as hell. Top Gear USA ran it against a Ferrari and it stomped it, pretty cool.

Thats a camera attach to the car...bro.
Just picked up a 2011 v wagon thing is sweet it’s auto but only has 22k miles in 2023 😮
how do u like it so far? there’s one for sale with low miles for $56k
It's faster than the California, and as a bonus it costs 1/4 the price.
we dont do wagons aka estates in the US
I want one of those
Hey im american and i like the wagon the best out off all the cts v s.
I like it!
Mechanic would be perfect for SOMEONE who really know how to drive it ;)
I usually don't like wagons and I still wouldn't buy one...but this one looks pretty good.
the only tech i need in my car is A/C and An am/fm radio
And aux thats all , I got gps on the cellular phone lol
Holy strut bar Batman!
Cooley could review STD's and i would still be interested
we don't do wagons aka estate cars in the US.
buttons are not paddles
Perfect every day car
I'd rather have the Wagon over any of the other 2 models.
I like it.
