Did you also notice the symbolism with the Vivisteria? Ember made a vivisteria that was a symbol of their love, and when they got their "love reading" the shape was a vivisteria tree trunk. Vivisterias are said to, "Withstand ANY environment" symbolizing their love withstanding, a hostile society.
Fun fact, since you guys were curious about what their baby would be like; in one of the endings they had originally written for the film, Ember and Wade leave for a while and when they come back they actually have a little steam baby with them. ☺
Fun fact: Wade and Ember being able to touch is based in real-life science. It's called the Leidenfrost effect which is when water like Wade touches a hot surface like Ember which creates a layer of steam that acts as an insulator for Wade, preventing him from vaporising and by extension, Ember from getting extinguished. Also Wade is truly a chad.
@@whitemouse7854 Of course. Fire here is basically a hot surface, given that Ember is able to physically hold solid objects rather than her hand going right through them and burning or heating. so that creates the layer of steam to protect them both.
I watched this movie in theatres on a day I had time to kill and I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. As a child of immigrants, it hit home. There is no way to repay the sacrifices our parents have made for us. We can only hope to live happily and find meaning in what we do here. Beautiful movie.
Me too. But I already have a Wade and he and I directly mirror Ember and Wade. The only difference is I'm black and not an immigrant. But being any minority is hard and I still have a family who's hard on me because I'm learning disabled (aka too stupid for their standards) and just in general not the person they want me to be. Not religious, not all that traditional, have tattoos, LGBT but they don't know that and/or they choose to ignore it. I go against everything they believe in. But my boyfriend is the only person who loves me unconditionally and for who I am.
i had never seen this film before, i'll admit it was honestly bc of how people talked about it before it actually came out, i remember seeing so many people being like "you know they had the perfect opportunity to show (certain minority groups) but instead they went with literal elements." but i think them being elements was a BEAUTIFUL way to portray that. the only thing i knew about this film before going into it was that ember and wade fall in love, and that also everyone was saying that it was hugely racially under-toned (like how everyone thinks luca has queer undertones.) and you know obviously the key factors that give that away are the whole "fire people aren't allowed here" (just straight up racial discrimination, not allowing people to be in certain places due to the colour of their skin), "you speak so well and clearly" (things that people have said to poc/immigrants when they speak the same language as them), "fire and water cannot be together" (kind of how society has unnecessary views on mixed race relationships), etc. but anyways, this film was gorgeous. did not expect to cry but dude when wade dropped the "it's too hot in here" line i knew i was done for😭💔
For me it was when the customs? guy couldn't pronounce or spell the parents names and then just decided to call them Burnie and Cindy, something the rest of them can easily pronounce.
I agree and I think Disney just didn’t hit it with the marketing. All they showed was the love story and quirky elements. They may have been scared to show the immigrant family story in fear of being labeled too woke or possibly lose audiences that don’t relate
@@vailea_arts2741 100% i can definitely see how that could have been a reason for them not showing it. it sucks that these days showing awareness to struggles that minority groups go through and trying to give them a happy ending is considered "woke" in a negative way. minority groups - whether they're people of colour, lgbtq+ people, immigrants, disabled people, etc. - all deserve love and happy endings and it is so unbelievably immature and gross that it's seen as some sort of propaganda or woke media. those of us in minority groups deserve the same cheesy story as everyone else seems to get.
@tialily4439 I think it's Everything you guys said about why they didn't focus on it but also another thing. Pixar almost never reveals what their movies are truly about in their trailers. The incredibles being a pure politics movie, Walle being about consumerism destroying the world And how Living is just as important as surviving, And finding nemo being also about learning to be less overprotective
You guys have been on my top favorite react channels since under 30k subs and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your content and chemistry. Excellent commentary, amazing content variety, and you all seem to be just lovely people. Thank you for being a channel that makes my day brighter with your videos. 💜
I watched this movie in theaters when it came out and it was such a beautiful experience! Pixar went for a cute and sweet rom com which was a breath of fresh air. Almost cried in the theater bc I liked it so much and I hated seeing all the hate! So happy to see you guys react ❤️☺️
Agreed, I loved it so much I saw it twice in the theater and several more times on Blu Ray and digital. For an original movie, I was also elated at the epic comeback it had at the box office.
Wade and Ember are total couple goals. I love this movie. Bureaucracy was the big bad. If the wall had been repaired immediately, and they didn't rely on a random citizen to do the repairs once the issue was found, fire town would never have been destroyed.
This is the perfect example of how moving to a new country is scary, and how growing up here it's important not to be afraid of exploring your friends and their cultures.
This film was one I went into theaters prepared not to like it. But when I left the theaters, I was in absolute tears. I still cry watching it again, and feel this film doesn't deserve the hate it got. Wade and Ember are by far the best Pixar couple, and in a sense I relate to this film when I first started dating my partner. The thing about their relationship is that it's realistic and relatable. They started as barely friends and grew into something so beautiful. It isn't your usual romanticized relationships; it is genuine and something that built up through the movie. This film is for certain a 10/10. 🔥💧
I honestly cried, when I watched it in theaters for the first time, tears. For me some things just made sense and I related too. Many beautiful scenes and moments, issues that are very much real, it’s just a beautiful movie and one of my favorites. The reason why the creator made it, hopefully of your free time you should all watch it and understand more in depth of the movie!
There's a really nice 20 minute interview on Disney+, where the creator/animator says this story is partly based on him & his parents' story about moving to the U.S. I would highly recommend. 😊
This movie was definitely better than I expected it and it actually made me cry. The only thing that bugs me was how much he cried throughout the movie
Saw this a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Really liked it. That lauv song that was written for this movie has been on repeat for me. Love how it incorporated the movie score into the song
Love how there wasnt any real primary villain, rather the poor accomodations and neglected infrastructure around an outlying community. Most people know blatant hate is bad, and those who dont likely wont be swayed so easily, so now having the focus on a less acknowledged issue we *can* help with raised awareness is real nice.
Omg I’ve never been this early for a film review before!!!! Love love love this movie, I went to see it three times in theaters with my family, and we loved it each time!
I couldn’t wait for you guys to watch this! Such a great movie which beautiful animation and storytelling. I’m so upset at myself for letting the negative talk about the movie keep me from going to see it in theaters. I’ve been making it up by watching it a ton haha
I ignored the criticism and went to see it opening night. I love elemental type stuff so just the fact that it was about elements excited me enough to go. Seeing that it was a love story had me begging my boyfriend to take me because I am a HOPELESS romantic who's a big sucker for a good love story. And it crushed my expectations. The element aspect was better than I thought it would be especially with the chef's kiss animation for all of them, the love story was realistic, genuine and just the most beautiful love story I've ever seen on screen, and the immigrant aspect of the story I wasn't expecting was made perfectly.
this movie is pretty cute, not my fav but i liked it. i think the main thing that bugged me was how ember looked 😭 idk why, i liked how everyone else looked but ember just reminded me of a scary on fire joy from inside out 😭 i love everyone elses design though
If Ember and Wade had a kid, Id think it would be some form of air. They remind me of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Its a common trope but i love it. Its beautiful and pretty realistic. Take zodiac signs fire signs and water signs rarely mix. Look at Wade no way he isnt a Cancer or Pisces, not many fire people get with those signs but there are real life couples who are water and fire signs.
I'm a Libra. And it does suit me because I have a lot of different sides to me that are all strong but mostly tend to balance each other out and make it so I can see things from all angles. However do I have much more of a fiery personality? Oh yeah.
It's a good movie, a cute movie. But I gave it 4/5 cause I'm not a fan of words of affirmation and this movie has a lot of that. Still an enjoyable movie though.

It's interesting how everyone feared the fire people for their so called destructive quality but water was the destructor of the city
oh my god, I never thought about that!
It was only of fire town not the whole city
Both fire town and the vivisteria place got destroyed by water. And from the dam its clear construction and maintenance werent up to code.
@@forestcatkay14 true but still wasn't the whole city
