No its not easy. If the driver does not respond for 1min like change in throttle , brake or honk a warning signal from the aws will come on. If he does not acknowledge or press any button for next 30sec a beep will come on and if he does not acknowledge or do any changes to throttle , brake or honk the train will automatically apply emergency brake and throttle down to neutral. And record this in the onboard computer . The driver had to bring the train to a complete stop and reset the brakes and then restart the whole system.
Big salute to drivers who run trains so fast. We enjoy sound sleep during night journey but driver of train has to keep his hawk eyes on signal lights with full concentration.
ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS! You can almost feel the engine vibration and smell the hot metal...This WDP4D EMD locomotive cab is not like the ones we have here in North America - very hi-tech...I'd PAY good money to take a cab ride like this and I appreciated the time it took to film this! Greetings from Toronto, Canada.

I have always been fan of Indian railways since my childhood...i remember my elders or uncle asked me if you wanna be Engineer.. and i always said yes ..bcoz i thought engineer means person who drives train by sitting in engine... 🇮🇳❤️❤️😀😀😂
In European countries a loco pilot is actually called an engineer. These people have technical background too... ITI, or Diploma in mechanical, electrical, electronics engineering. I am not sure if degree holders can apply too..
Hats off to the loco pilots who provide us safe journey particularly in prestigious trains like Rajdhani . It's very difficult to constantly focus eyesight on railway track when the speed of the train is more than 100 kms during night.
My father and uncles worked at Railways. Even my grandfather. Here are few myths that people get wrong! 1. Drivers don't have steering to move to a different track. There is something called RRI cabins and interlocking mechanisms that cabin masters and section masters set for each section. All tracks are divided into sections. 2. No they don't honk continuously to be awake. Did you see "W/L" boards all across?? on the right side? that is called whistle long. 3. There are also symbols like T/G, T/P to give a signal to the driver like the entire train has passed the bridge, the train has crossed a specific point. 4. Driver and Guard are in continuous touch. The driver makes a mistake that's it, the guard takes note of it. 5. Assistant Driver communicates with Driver and takes confirmation on signals. If the Driver fails to respond or confirm, Assistant should take over. Probably, Sr.Driver is having a problem. So many more facts in the Indian Railways. IT is a huge well-oiled department of India, should have been modernized to bullet trains.
Bullet Trains are amazing, but not suited for Indian "market." They have much lower carrying capacity, which is the biggest upside of trains and also why Indian railways are praised so much. High Speed trains are a different case. The next logical step for us should be getting a vast network of HSR. Wih similar capacity and better speeds, they're much better than Bullet trains, and can go upwards to speeds of 275 (which will be a massive leap). There are plans to add a decently large network of HSR as early as 2025, but let's see how it pans out. Bullet Train may be implemented, in future (after having a decent HSR chain), but mostly only for certain trips (Delhi - Mumbai, Mumbai BLR, Delhi - Agra, etc/Neigboring State capitals).
Also section signaling. 2 yelow means it can be red or green at the next signal proceed cautiously , whereas 1 yellow means upcoming signal is definitely red
These driver helps us to reach out destination despite of so many hurdles they go through and weathers to deal with, they deserve an Air Conditioner and Toilet inside locomotive
When i was a child when some one asks me what will you do after becoming big a man,i used to reply "a train driver" hahaha this video makes me remind those funny movements.
In our childhood I used to think that there must be a steering to control the train on track. I wondered how the driver would control his steering and move so perfectly on the track😋😂😂 theses memories make me laugh now.
My grandfather was locopilot in Bengal nagpur railway now south Eastern railway and now my brother is assistant loco pilot in East coast railway. Serving railway since 80 years
Awesome capture friend ! a variety of terrain, bridges, rain everything...terrific speeds of 110 kmph, relatively new cabin & loco...and at that shaky speeds you did extremely well to hold the lens steady...that's one hell of footplating all together ! keep it up - superb honking....too.

Very nice and elaborate video. Few things noticed. A) DMS or forward movement handle need to be brought in front of driver. It is at present sideways which will give him trouble and may have back ache problem in long run. B) For quite a long time drive has to hold DMS by two hands. I think this is different than Electric EMU. C) Lots of dirt accumulating in the front glass. There has to be a water spray as like cars. Dust also shows how dirty our environment. Video seems to be from North India rural area. Situation in cities may be worst. D) Cabin and ofcourse engine shakes a lot at 100 to 111. Indian Railways planning to increase the speed at 160 KMPH. Situation will be worst then. E) Cabin should be made sound proof. Driver will get annoyed at longer period.
it was great experience to have a ride in engine of Rajdhani. I know for security concerns many things were abstract but i think I know the train u r riding. Will never dislose🤣
Thank you for the excellent cab ride, classic EMD WDP loco too, made it all the better! Pity about the oven racks across the windscreen obstructing the way ahead though.
Great, really enjoyed this video; noisy bugger, but I guess the engineer needed to ride on the horn as much as he needed. A lot of swaying but that is why Indian rails make it exciting.
RF bipin Thank you, enjoyed very much. Were you the lucky filmer? Love how they go ripping past at 110 kph and the cows on either side placidly keep munching away w/o so much as twitching, lol.
Thank you for this video. You guys have a great rail network in India. i wish to know why was the engineer holding the throttle with both his hands in the video?
chris castellan+because the throttle is congested, very light pressure on the lever may move the throttle by 2 notches, resulting in a bump.and it's not healthy for the locomotive.so the loco pilot need to be perfect while notching up or down
Even I asked the same question to myself. Secondly it is situated offset giving him lots of trouble. It should have been in front of him like Electric trains.
The train crossed Bijani Railway Station at (7:08) which means this is either Dibrugarh or Guwahati Rajdhani as bijani is a station between new Bongaigaon and Guwahati.

Awesome video. using of horn is required when Rajdhani @ speed of 110kmph is running to alert people not to come near the track. However honking is of many types in IR not to just clear the route, it is also advised not to use too much horn. Lekim agar train chalte wakt engine ki city sunayi na de. safar me maza nahi ata.
Man continuously seeing the empty single track in front of u it is very easy to fall asleep. Hats of to these people.
that's why they continously honk so they don't sleep
How would they know that when to change track??
@@lokeshbagul7411 see drives only controls train only station master changes the track
They can't see what's in front of them while they are sitting. They get their instructions through receiver and signals.
No its not easy. If the driver does not respond for 1min like change in throttle , brake or honk a warning signal from the aws will come on.
