    Toyota should offer a choice of a naturally aspirated engine. Not everyone wants a turbo.

      This is the direction the industry as a whole is moving to. RAM no longer offers the V8 for 2025, only the 3.6L Pentastar V6 and their new 3.0L Hurricane inline 6. Ford still has the 5.0L Coyote V8, and GM's two V8 offerings. Eventually those will be phased out in favour of smaller displacement, forced-induction engines that meet stricter fuel guidelines.

      @@PRNTestDrive - In other words, the "stricter fuel guidelines" are just an excuse to make any useful truck overpriced and impossible for the average Joe to fix or maintenance themselves without dealership intervention. Also these turbo engines are actually more fuel thirsty when driven faster where a V8 coyote gets more mpg driven the same as already seen. All these turbos in small displacements are just about taking more money from the consumers than "saving the earth" bull crap. I've never heard ONE single true truck guy back then wishing that their V8 was a smaller engine with a turbo. If truck guys really cared about the environment, they would buy a Prius.

    Haven driven a variety of Toyotas for 30 years, I can attest to a noticeable decrease in build quality and reliability. I considered the new Tundra model, but the new engine and transmission combo is really going to have to prove itself, since the automaker consistently has had the most reliable full size truck for several years. I’ll pass until I see a similar longevity of the V8s. The big three also offer far more engine and model configurations.

      Fair enough! The American brands can offer more choice because they have much more volume, so they can afford a multitude of engine offerings. Time will tell!

    Pick mine up in March.
    Took me months to decide to move on from my Tacoma.
    6 months in and 20K miles and it's amazing.
    Definitely feel more comfortable. Ride quality is still great. It's still going on some mild off-road trails.
    Toyota reliability still there, even the current issues Toyota's still trying to fix. Not like the other manufacturers who sometimes hide s until exposed.
    My biggest complaint is that turn radius

    I have had 3 turbocharged cars that lasted over 50,000miles. I traded about every 2-3 years. 2 ran very good 1 not so great. The problem I have with these companies putting turbos on cars is, they are reducing cylinders and displacement and adding boost to try to maintain the power the normally aspirated had. Seems like they rushed to do this. Turbocharging this engine doesn’t have anything to do with failures due to the material left in it after machining it but many people will associate turbos with the engine failures. Heat is the problem under the hood with turbos. Plastic will pay the price. I hope Toyota has solved this issue for 2025. I thought I would like to have a new Tundra but will hold off for now. They have had plenty of time to fix this issue and if they didn’t, they should fire their executives who decided not to - or they will pay a bigger price of people not buying their products. I have heard they may have to spend around $10 billion to fix this issue. The Tacoma has transmission problems also! What else lurks for Toyota? Whew! The government has played a part in automakers going south also. Forcing the elimination of gasoline in 10 years is idiotic!

      It does seem like Toyota has had a string of issues with their vehicles recently. It's hard to sort out the noise from the actual issues though, as we typically just hear from people who've had issues and not from people who've had problem-free experiences. Either way we hope Toyota can sort out the issues with their trucks/SUVs.

The failing parts have been superseded as of January 2024 for the bearings . Toyota will iron out all the issues as they have , No I don’t miss the 5.7 v8 at all this new tundra is better in EVERY way . Tows better , more torque down low in the rpm ride is way Better and quieter trans is silky smooth and also avg 19 mpg mix hwy and city just can’t say good enough things about the Gen3 tundra .

      Glad to hear it! That's something I think some people have forgotten when it comes to the issues Toyota has had with this engine, is they're going to absolutely fix the issue and make it right. There are plenty of brands out there with recall after recall and seem to have non-stop problems, but I know if I had a Toyota with an issue there's a way better chance of it getting dealt with properly than with some other brands.

      @peterhoma6385 - Good job, you sound JUST like a Toyota employee trying to sell Toyotas. Seriously you could have at least picked a lower trim Tundra instead of the $75K. I disagree that "your" so called TRD is better in "EVERY" way, one thing about the V8 is that they sound WAAAY better than any turbo truck and even the most hardcore 6 cylinder turbo guy would agree that their V8 sounded better. Besides, the V8 outlast any 6 cylinder turbo and there's mountains of data to support that. Also, the new V8 coyotes get an average of 20-23 mpg on mixed city and highways and you can easily tune a coyote into a street rocket with very little added parts.

      @reachblowsdick7222 2 місяці тому

      @@PRNTestDrive - I would agree that Toyota is better than Ford when it comes to customer service and fixing issues. Ford dealerships are only interested in replacing big expensive non warranty parts than doing small cheaper upgrades under warranty. But Toyota really dropped the ball by removing naturally aspirated engines with these new turbos, they should have at least given consumers the choice of both just like Ford, in that aspect Ford is far better than Toyota which give people far more choices than Toyota's "crappy turbo or less crappy turbo" choices.

    • @reachblowsdick7222
      @reachblowsdick7222 2 місяці тому

      @peterhoma - Also another thing, the Ford Shelby truck gets around the same mpg as a TRD Pro tundra but the speed and power of that supercharged coyote destroys the TRD tundra easy. Also the Shelby has the best version of the 10 speed transmission and it's as silky smooth as a Lexus. I've seen Ford's 10R80 tranny issues before but just like Toyota they're also fixing the problem. So between both $75-$100K trucks (yes I've seen Tundras at $100K at dealerships) I would go for the Shelby because it not only looks far better, it's much faster and sounds a 1000 times better.....and it's cooler too, I mean come on, Shelby Cobra truck sounds better than Toyota TRD (turd)..lol!
