    That Huyang “pep talk” with Sabine is so underrated at this point! I love his message: A good Jedi does not require the use of the force! It’s a state of mind/being/way of life. Love it!

    Something I love about Baylon's characterization so far is that he really feels like a fallen knight rather than a Sith - he still has weird polite formality, his outfit even looks kind of like armour, and he's not really doing any weird Sith things. He doesn't appear to be a ball of barely controlled rage, and he's also not wielding a red lightsaber - it's blood orange, which from memory is a colour that can naturally occur in Khyber Crystals. He's just serving evil for his own ends. It's nice to see gradients like that - not everything has to be pure Jedi or pure Sith.

    3:40 "you've done enough" was appropriate admonishment of Sabine. She took the map when told not to, and as a result the map was lost to the enemy. wouldn't have happened if she had done as she was told. It was part praise for holding her own, and part scolding her for being too stubborn and not being a team player. it's a bit of, "see what happens when you don't listen to those wiser than you?".

    When Canan was discussing Sabine's lightsaber training with Hera, he said Sabine, like everyone else, had contact with the Force, but she was too at odds with herself to be receptive to it (or some such). So perhaps all she needs is discipline and to make peace with - and within - herself.

    • @Carabas72

      Discipline sounds like the opposite of what can make Sabine be at peace with herself.

      He also said that the force is in everyone, but you have to be open to it. The Jedi and Sith are open to it because they know how to be, while most others (especially the common folk) are not. I'm guessing Ahsoka will teach Sabine how to "open up' to the force. Either that or someone else will through a vision or something? Excited to see what comes next!!

    • @ronweber1402
      @ronweber1402 Рік тому +2

      @@Carabas72 I'm thinking more internal discipline not discipline exerted by an outside force. Any attempt at exerting control on Sabine will only result in resistance. It is a journey within herself.

    Interesting symmetry with The Mandalorian. Din Djarin is training a highly-force sensitive Grogu to be a Mandalorian, and Ahsoka is training a not-very force sensitive (Mandalorian) Sabine to be a Jedi. Helps reinforce the idea that Jedi, Mandalorian, Sith, Dathomir Witches are creeds. Remember Chirrut in Rogue One followed the Jedi teachings without being able to feel the force.

    Not every Jedi was strong enough to do what most "expect" them to be able to. A lot of force-sensatives served in support roles, such as maintenance, science & research, and the arts. I always suspected Sabine was force-sensative, because of how good she was at what she did. Much like how Han Solo was such a damn good pilot.

    I find it interesting how the show is titled "Ahsoka". Yet, the emotional heart of the show (at least if the first two episodes are any indication) seems very much centred around Sabine instead. As in, it's Sabine's journey and her conflicts that we - the viewers - are most invested in. And I'm not at all unhappy about it. 😄😄

    • @vladgdc
      @vladgdc Рік тому +4

      I don't think a Jedi's training is complete until they have at least one padawan as it's often true for these master and apprentice relationships both learn something from it. So, in a way, it still is Ahsoka's journey.

  • @Souliest1
    @Souliest1 Рік тому +16

    I feel that Ahsoka telling Sabine she had done enough was spot on. Sabine was explicitly told not to take the map and she did, and then immediately lost it after unlocking it. She doesn't deserve to be run through with a lightsaber, but an annoyed "You've done enough." is certainly warranted.
    I love that Huyang is the one disconnecting the droid's head: you don't get to 25,000 years old while keeping 75% of your original parts by being careless with those parts.
    We saw Corellia in Solo: A Star Wars Story. It's the planet Han Solo comes from.
    Interesting that we see Sabine cutting her hair to "get back" to her past Padawan status (in a way) so close to you watching Uncle Iroh and Zuko do the same thing to cut ties with theirs.

    I have an interesting theory about this "Inquisitor".
    We got a name - Marrok.
    Marrok is a reference to Arthurian legends. An honorable knight with that name was transformed into a wolf/hunter by a witch named Morgan (another reference). I don't believe in such a coincidence. Morgan Elsbeh might have an influence on him or will do something to Marrok or might have already done something to him/her.
    When it comes to identity, many characters we know could fit into this theory. Example: Barriss, Starkiller. It could also be a new character.

    Baylan's reluctance and comment that it would be a shame to kill Ahsoka shows an interesting side to his character. It would be especially interesting to contrast with Ahsoka's attitude towards him when they inevitably meet. As Baylan commented - there are so few Jedi left. And they both left the Order too!
    In terms of Ahsoka being so stern despite hrself being so free-spirited and difficult to handle as a padawan is an intentional choice by the creators. She's now on the receiving end of what she had put her own master through. Perhaps a certain force ghost who is rumoured to be making an appearance on the show might help remind her of that?

    Hey, Angela!
    Another solid episode.
    We get a live-action Chopper!
    PETER JACOBSON, the shipyard manager, is a veteran character actor from many shows including "The Lost Room", "House", "The Americans", "Colony", "Ray Donovan" and "Fear the Walking Dead". I don't think he had any Imperial inclinations and was just as surprised as Ahsoka and Hera that so many loyalists were operating right under his nose.
    The introduction of this new galaxy and its inhabitants creates many possibilities most especially paving the way for the YUUZHAN VONG INVASION!
    That massive hyperdrive ring is to provide the propulsion necessary for extragalactic travel which far outdistances intragalactic travel!
    Interesting that Baylan admires Ahsoka and would rather spare her if he could. He still identifies with the Jedi.
    Great Marrok-Ahsoka duel! Love her sidestep. I want to know who he is!
    The last scene on Lothal matches the epilogue of "Rebels" very closely minus Ahsoka's staff. That means these two episodes took place after "Mandalorian" Season 2 but before the "Rebels" epilogue. The rest of this show predates "Book of Boba Fett" since it occurs two years after "Mandalorian" Season 2 which presents the opportunity to show Ahsoka's first meeting with Luke during the course of this show!

    Corellia showed up in the Solo movie, it's the planet at the beginning Han and Qira were fleeing. Yes, Corellian ships like the Millennium Falcon and the Ghost were built there, but also ships like the CR-90 Corvette (the Rebel Blockade Runner used in the Rebel fleets) as well as the Pelta-class Frigate (the Clone Wars Republic frigate we see used as Phoenix Home in Rebels). Corellia is a massive supporter of the Rebels even when under Imperial rule due to the renegade nature of her people. We already know that Sabine has a connection to the force. We saw that when Kanan was training her with the Dark Saber, and he told her that she had to connect with it. To use the force, you need to be open to it. And the last thing most (if not all) Madalorians do is open up. That's why, with the Dark Saber, when Sabine finally opened up about her emotions, she was able to connect to it. But that's what still holds her back from truly connecting to the force. She keeps herself closed off. It also explains why, in all of history, there's only been one Madalorian Jedi.

    Awesome! First two episodes are definitely a good start, the casting is on point, I really like the pacing, you're fed enough information and emotional moments while the plot is picking up fairly quickly. No 'handholding' for those who haven't seen Rebels, which is good in my opinion. Tennant as Huyang is great and of course Ray, his look has a great presence, while this look is dignified, his role reminds me a tiny bit of his role in Black Sails, which you should watch if you haven't already. And yup Ahsoka's being all kinds of cool, I also wonder how they're going to deal with the whole 'jedi' thing, as in, Ahsoka's no Jedi officially, and it neither is Baylan, though he doesn't seem like a Sith either, maybe they can find some common ground somewhere...

    The group going after Thrawn are all survivors, which I find very interesting.
    Having survived Order 66, Baylon, like Anakin, is looking for power to keep those close to him safe. I hope the Inquisitor Marrok is not anyone special. He didn't have any lines in the first 2 episodes, and to make him special later would be weird. IMDB has Wes Chatham playing Captain Enoch, but I hope he plays Eli Vanto from the Thrawn novels.
    Ahsoka, at this point, seems very jaded, but that may change as we move forward with the series. I think we will get flashbacks of Anakin and Ahsoka training together, which will help her train Sabine. If I remember right, Kanan, while training Sabine, said that she wasn't necessarily force-sensitive but could use her skills as a Mandalorian to help her wield the Dark Saber. Also, Sabine and Ahsoka may have had a falling out because she lost her family while training with Ahsoka.
    I liked what we got so far and am ready to see more. The music was really well done by Kevin Kiner. It felt very familiar and new at the same time. I would have liked to see more force abilities during fights against other force users. Some scenes linger a bit too long, and the characters feel stiff, but that will change as the series continues.

    And theoretically, I guess if you put enough hyper drives into one of those giant rings... It's either going to allow a ship to dock with it and then travel to that new galaxy, or it will open a gigantic Stargate portal probably... I don't know. Just super fun ideas. Maybe it's just me but...General Syndulla gives me insane Lucy Lawless vibes. It's only because of all the makeup and the stuff on her head but she could be her little sister in that role. Love it. WIthout all that she doesn't look like her at all which makes it even more interesting. Btw, I give Disney a lot of shit (Not gonna apologize, they deserve it and then some.) but that Lightsaber dodge without looking was insane. Look how good her enemy performs, though. You can see there's someone in that suit who has trained to perform with a Lightsaber. It's so good seeing that after all the disappointments with basically everyoneone holding a Lightsaber since Disney got involved. Seeing Rey and Kylo go at it almost made me leave the cinema back then. After watching the movies 'till the end I wish I did, though. To say it like Sheldon would: It made me wanna rip off my face and tear it into tiny little shreds. 🤣
    I'd like to add that I already want to apologize. Actually I'm a really nice person but as soon as Disney gets involved....man. They really bring out the worst in me. What they did to Star Wars and Predator and what they're about to do to Alien....just makes me angry 'cause I love those franchises to death for over 30 years now and they keep shitting on them like there is no tomorrow. I'm REALLY trying to be as positive as possible here but if it's Disney I might not be able to hold that up all the time.

    Finally got to watch the two episodes so I could race back and check your reactions... So good on both accounts.
    Firstly - yes making sure the Lolth Cat has a proper Cat Sitter is the most important part! 😎
    I love the idea of Sabine as a padawan. She had sime training under Jedi Prinze Jr with the Darksaber and tla frw other things, Ingeel this was always thebolan for Sabine - for me it works.
    Also, whilst George sprinkled a lot of different jedi in the backgrounds of the prequels, Filoninis thebfirst to give us proper diversity of force users - and I am 100% here to see these ladies out there doing there thing.
    The Eye of Scion gave me Attack of the clones era Starfighter Hypersoace Rings vibes, until I remembered the scale as theybinstalled multiple Super Star Deatroyer Drive cores .... But perhaps the same idea, it will be a minster hyperspace engine.
    The mystery person is going to be a fun puzzle. Its been like the rest if the Ghost crew, we havent seen an Inquisitor for about 15 years, they should have fallen when the Empire did. Yet that blade is unmistakable, perhaps another survivor on the payroll
    Love their sci-fi plate armour look, lol.
    Aaaaagh i could go on forever. Great stuff, and so keen for thr next one.

    I find it interesting to explore how a person that has very little access to the force is still training to become a Jedi. After all it never was a binary of either having or not having the force, the Jedi o old just could afford to train people with high potential. I certainly am intrigued, and the ancient mysticism feel that the show has in those first two episodes might make me think that we could get more exploration of exactly what that means.

    I like that the vast majority of the trailer was from the first episodes. Most of what we did not see were fight/combat scenes with the character shown in the two first episodes.
    The largest "spoilers" is that we see Thrawn but it is quite expected from the setup and hints that we will see Anakin/Darth Vader in I would assume flashback. It to was quite clearly set up with her talking of her old master. The firs episode is even called "Master and Apprentice" and the theme applies to multiple pairs of characters in the show.

    And some people thought that Andor was a bit slow. But at least that pace - along with the great writing / dialogue / acting - served to create a wonderful tension throughout. Here it was more of people / droids / holograms just standing around. And then - after the thousands of quick flick lightsaber kills shown throughout Star Wars canon - we get a clean penetrating killing thrust center mass. But supposed to believe that it was barely more than a scratch ?? WIll hold out hope the last 6 will give us much more.
