I would also add, for anyone visiting Canterbury, the walk along the river Stour, from the Sainsbury supermarket car park to the old mill is wonderful, the fish and bird life is astonishing for such a busy tourist city - enjoy !
Though I live in New Zealand, I have visited and enjoyed Canterbury over six times, and still discover new things, Thank you for a beautifully photographed tour, and for your descriptions, which I suspect will always attract some negative comments- but for me, all good :)
@@TheVaughan5 Fortunate indeed, although for many years I was a tutor at University Kent and Oxford. Canterbury Cathedral is most certainly overwhelmingly beautiful, but with so many other astonishing historic buildings, both religious and secular in the UK, I would be reluctant to make any specific claims :)
@@MrTorleon Yes I know it's quite a claim but I'm sticking to it because of all my travels throughout the World I cannot think of a more extraordinarily beautiful edifice anywhere. I'm referring to the interior because externally there are other buildings just as fine or maybe even better. cheers.
Incomprehensible: the video is called 'Canterbury Cathedral Video Guide' but this is entirely misleading. The video is about the town of Canterbury, and avoids the cathedral as the plague, as if it is an island of non-existence around which a nice town has developed. The voice sounds as if the lady was saturated with the profound wish to be somewhere else and doing something entirely different. A bad production.....
very lucky you reach the place Sir Simon Reeve, thank God
Thanks for this beautiful and informative video!
Glad it was helpful!

I have been twice in Canterbury by coach and the city is twinned with the French city Reims where I live of course!!
Thank you a very good video

Then you are fortunate, living so far away, to have visited what is IMO the finest building in the World. 😊

Augustine was a Catholic not an Anglican. The Anglicans are not successors of medieval Bishops.
The Anglican Bishops are exactly the successors of the pre-reformation Bishops. The Anglican Church is Catholic but not Roman Catholic.
