@@IndefiniteGentlemen The battery alone weighs 3000 lbs. The Silverado will have the same battery with much better aerodynamics and a range rating over 400 miles. Some people are getting over 400 miles in the Hummer so we could see the Silverado breaking 500 miles.

This is definitely the version I'd get. I love the 800v architecture, and I feel it's more practical than the truck (if practical could be used to describe a Hummer in the 1st place). I also like the improved breakover and departure angles, and the use case for crab mode makes a lot more sense now that the chief engineer explained how he has used it. The self cleaning cameras and digital rearview mirror help with the blind spots. Super Cruise is right up there with Tesla IMO. There are a few things I don't like though. 1. My biggest dislike is the rear door. It's massive and opens toward the curb in countries where driving on the right side of the road is the norm. Navigating around it at the airport would drive me nuts. I'd prefer if it swung up, but with the heavy spare, that would be a challenge to do. Hatches that swing up are not only completely out of the way, but they provide some shelter from the rain too. 2. I agree with Alex. It needs a 3rd row. 3. Lift over height is a challenge, even with the vehicle in the lowest suspension mode. I'd probably keep a step stool handy or rig up a truck bed crane to the hitch for those times I knew I needed to lift super heavy items. 4. I'd like a little more power from the inverter to power more A/C appliances. The F150 Lightning has excelled here. 5. It doesn't have the ability to do bi-directional charging like the Lightning can. All that energy in a massive battery, and it can't be tapped into if the power goes out at home. 6. It only comes with 800hp instead of the 1000 the truck has. Some of that is probably due to packaging, but it's still a bummer. 7. I wish automakers would standardize having the charging port in the middle of the grill so it can be accessed from both sides w/o having to back into a spot. Having it on the rear 1/4 doesn't make much sense to me. 8. I wish it came with an integrated 12000lb winch option. At 9500lbs, who's going to be able to pull you out if you get it stuck. 9. Integrated upfitter switches would be nice too.
So far one of the best reviews of the vehicle. I saw a few others and no one mentioned that the rear glass can open. That alone is big fact to know. Because the swing gate limits where you can access the rear. The opening glass makes it a lot more manageable. But only if you are tall enough.
My only complaint is that the swing-gate should have been hinged on the left. It's a minor safety/convenience issue, but it's still an issue that gets overlooked.
True if you are parking on the street, but when parking in a 2-way parking lot w/ angled spaces, swinging the rear door on the right side puts the door between you & any oncoming traffic.

Tommy, why didn't you ask the engineer about the constant failures of the air compressor getting hot and not working on the truck you had. Or the automatic leveling problems you had whenever you wanted to change off road modes, where you had to wait for the vehicle to go back up, hence the overheating problem with the air compressor. He is so proud of the 25 inches of wading depth, and with good reason. At the same time for years, when working 😂, Range Rover a had close to. 900mm or more than 35 inches.
What? TFL stopped by Spring Lake Regional Park in Santa Rosa, CA to shoot that part of the video. I have never thought TFL would stop by in my neighborhood....
You should have grilled the Engineers about the amount of times Roman got stuck with no ride height or locking diffs at Moab because the computer went into panic mode.
Your lack of *common sense* and ignorance would’ve gotten Tommy, Donna, and the entire channel completely embarrassed by the engineering team at GMC. A chopped & screwed up/edited compilation of footage from TFL consisting of issues that only appear to happen when they are reviewing the vehicle anecdotally is not enough to “grille” anyone over especially when it’s as highly technologically advanced as the Hummer twins. I’ll go as far to say it seems a bit suspicious that it’s always Roman with the major issues in anything that’s _not_ a Ford. Engineers would’ve had a field day with them. 😂
woah! GM able to take a nice idea like EV and f it up with this crazy thing!!! F150 lightning for me please when it gets decent towing range & 5th wheel compatible.
The biggest thing that is stopping me from getting an electric truck is that I can't tow a camper an hour away without having a destination that will let me charge. We have a favorite lake for camping that is an hour away and I wouldn't be able to displace my current truck with any of the electric truck options.
Lol electric trucks have a long way to go to catch up to their gas counterpart’s evolution. Luckily unlike when trucks were first becoming a thing, GM can look at those tfl videos of the hummer’s downfalls and do better.
Very interesting video, I do like Alex , she has good points we hopefully get to see more if her in your videos, nice to have a woman's point if view in vehicles , the hummer ev seems to be geared to the mom's and grocery getters type of thing , good show guys keep up the good work , like you chanel very much
If you buy this Hummer EV SUV, I actually think its more suited towards the 18 to 22 year old offspring of rich moms n dads! More guys will choose the Bronco Raptor, Moms would go for the G-Wagon and the teen and college kids will have first dibs due to it's "College-like" attitude! I am willing to bet that by end of next year 2024, that you will see this vehicle on more college campuses than in mom-and-dads driveway! V
All these EV’s are driving up cost of auto insurance for everyone. EV’s involved in accidents with any battery damage are totaled. Very environmentally friendly...
I loved the H2's and had them when they were new. I wanted to like this but passed when it came in. Bought another H2 instead and having a Duramax installed.
No third row I like it. If I want 3rd row I prefer a mini van always for comfort. It actually is good this way! I also like the interior and combination colors. I am good with being square! Lol 😝
So is it waterproof or splash proof? Due to so many electrical parts. Just like a RC a electric some are not some are only splash proof and others are fully waterproof. ? So the limit is 30+ of totally sealed hopefully when water splashes past 36 inches it won’t shut down or start having malfunctions. I would assume anything above is splash proof for safety. If I owned it I would probably stick under 30 inches because of oversplash above the 30+ inches.
Im not an EV fan whatsoever, but out of all the EVs out there. This would be my choice. The only turnoff i have from this is that its ridiculously expensive. If it was around 70-80k then id consider buying it. Hopefully theyll knock it down in the future
Yep, agreed on both parts but especially that we need some "cheap" off roaders. What about a $30k stripped down Colorado with front and rear lockers and only very limited electronics to break?? Heck, I'd even be ok with roll-up windows! I don't need heated seats or a heated steering wheel or a 65 inch touchscreen in my truck! Lol I think Tommy bought the least expensive, yet-capable Wrangler at what, $35k? For a base model Wrangler 🤯
I don't think that any HUMMER has ever been considered a "mass market" vehicle. These have always been fringe vehicles for people to dump loads of money on.
The huge bezels on those screens look incredibly old-fashioned. Spare tire on the outside is also 100 years old. Minus 10 points on that GM. Also could move the shifter to the steering column and open up the center tunnel to more usable storage. @22:06 Under 300 mi. is definitely not enough for cross-country. The minimum should be be a true 300 miles. However, 380-400 would be the ideal range. At that distance, range anxiety would no longer be an issue. The car must be capable of going longer than the average driver. But just so we're clear, its an SUV. It definitely needs to be able to go cross-country, and 280 mi is just no enough. That's kind of the point. Anyway, the truck is definitely macho. The only thing that takes away from that, is the white color. Speaking of which, definitely needs more colors. A whole lot more. Don't be shy on the colors GM.
So did anyone explain the HP difference? Are they using smaller motors in the front or rear or did they just dial it back to try to make up for the lost capacity from the smaller battery pack?
exactly, the crab mode is not gonna make better trench steering, but it will be perfect getting your azz away from tree and i'm sure plenty more similar situations
Also to, Tommy, you mentioned, most people who buy this would have more than one vehicle. So tell me why you would spend 100k, for a secondary vehicle. I travel 200 miles up north in Michigan to my cabin, there is ONLY one charging station half way up, ok, so I stop and top off. More than likely I'm towing a 2axle trailer with 2 4x4 utility atv's on board. About 3500 lbs. But the vehicle has no problem towing this, but, it cuts down on the range. Now I get up north, and travel around to different trail systems, to go ride. But guess what, there are no charging stations in the area. The infrastructure isn't there yet. Now I'm most likely screwd.! But, yeah, let's all convert over to EV. It's no wonder that the big 3 still make off road trucks with gas engines. Here's another thing, once we DO get the infrastructure for EV charging stations, the price isn't going to be as cheap as it is now. There is a tax on gas and diesel that goes towards the repairs on roads, nobody's thinking about this for electricity. And where does 95% of electricity come from. Fossil fueled plants.! So, good luck EV.!
@krane15 I see how the government is pushing for EV, making demands for manufacturers to have their fleet average 45 mpg, by 2035. So, that being said, you think EV vehicles are not supposed to be daily driven. And even the price, isn't that much higher than a loaded full size pickup today. Average price for a middle optioned truck, $67,000 gas engine, and a diesel, over $90,000. At least with these I don't have to search for a station to fill up.
This is a GREAT EV SUV -- I think this is definitely better than the Hummer truck version due to its shorter wheel base which means off-road it should waaaaaaay outperform the truck version in MOAB and Rubicon trail-like conditions! I liked the review BUT NOW it needs a DIRECT comparison to the Ford Bronco Raptor to see which one is the true off-road king. The new $111,000 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Ultimate Recon SHOULD NOT be included in that type of comparison due to it being targeted towards a different price bracket. That Jeep is BETTER COMPARED to the Mercedes/AMG G-63 G-Wagon series! This Hummer EV looks and performs quite similar to the old Toyota FJ-Cruiser series (i.e. darn good off-road!) so it would be an interesting test to do a direct comparison against that older SUV vehicle but changed over to the SAME 35 inch or 37 inch M/T TIRES for both vehicles where I would use Goodyear Duratracs for the test! Moneywise, I would probably still buy Tommy's Jeep Willy for $35,000 USD and mod it with a 4 or 6 inch lift and big 35 or 37" Goodyear Duratracs, extra winches front and back and extra in-back fuel tank plus spend money on a roof-tent system and rear swing-out carrying cage for the 40 lbs propane and water tanks for my camping setup. All that extra stuff can be bought online for around $10,000. I'll save the money and install it myself and for $45,000 USD I get a true boondocker/overlander vehicle for less than HALF the price of the Hummer SUV! V

nope, maybe for a day trip, but try doing something like the Pony Express or how about a full driving trip up to Alaska or the Arctic Ocean and then get back to us
Thanks for mentioning this vehicle does have Super Cruise. It makes sense that it would, but I haven't heard other mention it. I personally find Super Cruise an extremely exciting technology and look forward to how it evolves.
I'd like to see a head to head with a loaded Defender, Hummers and Rivian SUV'S. They're both very capable, expensive luxury off-road vehicles. Which is more utilitarian camping, climbing, mudding etc...
Nicely done. Welcome, Alex!
I’m with Alex on this. Your vehicle shouldn’t cost as much as a 1/3 of house purchased in normal market.
He is so proud of the 25 inches of wading depth, and with good reason. At the same time for years, when working 😂, Range Rover a had close to. 900mm or more than 35 inches.
Can the RR crab walk?
So then the next question is better, the Hummer SUV or the Rivian? I look forward to that comparison guys.
Its FRIDAY 👏👏👏 HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE ✌️...Thanks Tommy .. and SOCIAL MEDIA ALEX ... 😊
Thank you !
Looks much better than the pickup.
Pretty impressive that they engineered this massive vehicle to have less cargo space than a 4Runner or Highlander.
The SUV seems like a much Better package. I wonder what kinda range they can get with more street friendly tires. 😊
I'll pass on all EVs. Curious though: was that a date? Seemed unique indeed.
I'm sure we'll see lots of these 150k EV planet savers out there on the trail.
Absolutely no doubt about that! LOL
@@mybro727 well, did they have issues or not? Not interested in conspiracy theories.
I hope they make a smaller and cheaper H3 version of this. I would definitely purchase that!
woah! GM able to take a nice idea like EV and f it up with this crazy thing!!! F150 lightning for me please when it gets decent towing range & 5th wheel compatible.
It looks like a giant FJ Cruiser.
The biggest thing that is stopping me from getting an electric truck is that I can't tow a camper an hour away without having a destination that will let me charge. We have a favorite lake for camping that is an hour away and I wouldn't be able to displace my current truck with any of the electric truck options.
Just throw a gas powered generator in the back !😅
Lol electric trucks have a long way to go to catch up to their gas counterpart’s evolution. Luckily unlike when trucks were first becoming a thing, GM can look at those tfl videos of the hummer’s downfalls and do better.
Split opening back doors would be nice , safe & more practical than the single monstrous tail gate .
I just fell in love with Alex 😍😍 she’s doing great 👏🏽
Well thank goodness GM made another vehicle that most regular ppl can't afford. I was worried they would think of the regular folks. 😆
The impressive part was that none of them broke down.
I’m sure if one did they were barred from recording it. You would think they would fix the first hummer EV before releasing another one
I loved the H2's and had them when they were new. I wanted to like this but passed when it came in. Bought another H2 instead and having a Duramax installed.
Was in Seattle recently and most definitely would have been nice to have crab 🦀 walk for parking garage.
Imagine you have channel with 400k subscribers and you even cant put your hoodie straight😅
A takovej nesmysl ti stojí za fňukání?
No third row I like it. If I want 3rd row I prefer a mini van always for comfort. It actually is good this way! I also like the interior and combination colors. I am good with being square! Lol 😝
Alex looks and singing. Equals views!
Tommy rockin’ the MoonSwatch.
haha. alex singing. that was adorable.
12:40 that passenger airbag display looks very familiar, like what is on my Chevy Volt
Front trunk should have a sliding piece so you can easily access all your stuff
I'm all good with advanced radar cruise control.....but if you unable to change lanes without the assistance of automation, WTF are you driving?🙄
Great video. Next, try something like the old telegraph track.
Hi Guys,Am Loving This Hummer SUV.
Might be okay in a muddy field at grandmas, but 10,000lbs of dead weight stuck in a mudhole is game over.
Looks way better with the canopy on the back imo.
Im not an EV fan whatsoever, but out of all the EVs out there. This would be my choice. The only turnoff i have from this is that its ridiculously expensive. If it was around 70-80k then id consider buying it. Hopefully theyll knock it down in the future
What to put in the front trunk? ..... a spare battery for an additional 100 Miles or so.
Just bought a Tesla MY Performance and I love it, but NGL if I had $120k laying around, this is the EV I’d get.
That is one good looking beast! Also, where is this coarse setup? Looks like just a neighborhood field...
Great to see Alex again, great work as always
It’s so expensive these vehicles I’ve got to get a lot cheaper for the mass public to afford.
15:32 I thought the rear door would be hinged on the left side for a left-hand drive market.
I just love it. No words😮
21:41 I can't afford it, but still gonna get one ❤
That black one looks awesome
So did anyone explain the HP difference? Are they using smaller motors in the front or rear or did they just dial it back to try to make up for the lost capacity from the smaller battery pack?
What's the music called you used during the video please because it's not listed in the description
my Subaru outback from 2013 only gets 350 miles range. holy crap that's good
4:40 😂
Anyone who doesn’t think a huge recession is coming…..right before the last big recession GM killed the Camaro and built lots of Hummers……
Oh boy
Lol, that's so scientific, who can argue?
exactly, the crab mode is not gonna make better trench steering, but it will be perfect getting your azz away from tree and i'm sure plenty more similar situations
Hate to be the engineers that put so much effort into the off-road engineering knowing most of it will never be used
I love it. Just got one
I wish all trucks came with a rubber floor.
If you don't see the point, its because they're not daily drivers. They're mean for wealthy people. See how it works now?
