GM is all in on EV truckdom, Ford is pulling back, Toyota seems to be out, Ram isn’t even on the map. Will be interesting to see who has taken the better course. At a starting price at $90k+ I think this will be dealer lot paper weights. The idea of value is gone Just this fud’s 2 cents
They, GM, did invest 900+ million in the next gen V8 so they did hedge their bets. Maybe they should also focus on those "allison branded" transmissions lol. What a chit show.
Agree with sunroof comment, my eyes have always been overly light sensitive, now at age 68 there is no way I could daily drive this EV. Maybe they will sell a ton of these in Pacific NW !
24 inch wheels? Difficult to imagine something better designed to decrease range and efficiency while destroying the ride. But then again the dozens of people who buy this, and then default on the payments, will probably be happy
I have the 2024 Sierra EV. I was indeed concerned with the big wheels and initially planned to downsize them. But it gets nearly 470 miles range, 310 miles towing a 6k lb trailer, and the ride is the best I’ve ever had. Can’t say how it would compare to an EV car, but compared to any of my past trucks it’s fantastic. I may still consider smaller wheels later, but it’s not a big deal either way.
Technically, an EV is less complicated than an ICE vehicle. Fewer moving parts, less required maintenance, fewer points of potential failure… But yeah, vehicles- all vehicles but particularly many EVs- are overpriced right now. CNBC just did a segment on it and largely boils down to manufacturers deciding to prioritize per sale profits over volume. As to EVs there’s a lot of development cost baked in and they’re struggling to get to profitability- they’ve actually raised prices of ICE segment to offset losses in EVs.
Maybe overcomplicated to operate with the touch screen. Mechanically? I would take an EV over any turbo charged VVT ridden gasser. Overpriced? Yeah, I'm not sure where this fits. Its almost as expensive as the Hummer EV so I see this being cannibalized from the bottom by it's Chevy cousin, and from the top by its Hummer brother. Its nice looking, but either it or the Hummer is probably going to be gone in a few years.
I don't really comprehend why ppl who Vehemently HATE anything EV. Would watch a channel dedicated to EV. Like What The Actual F? I hate Walmart. Guess what I never shop there. At today's cheap price of 3.32 pg on a 48g tank 159 & change. & if towing anything? That's a Thirsty ride. Where as my 2 EV's currently run about 48-60 for complete charge. IF not charging at "home". For significantly more range albeit a sedan & luxoboat convertible. - idk 1)why watch an ev channel IF you hate ev anything? 2) GM's products as far as EV'S are concerned are Superior to their competitors. & their Sales figures even show that. Ram is sinking & Ford is right behind them. Whose excelling though GM Buddy! ❤. Tho I love GM? I'd never buy a 1983 Chevy Chevette. Guess what? I don't watch any vids about Chevettes either. Oh, one more thing, as long as idiotic crap like this "truck" keeps causing the increase in the price of real ICE trucks to offset their HUGE losses we non-EV folks have every right to be upset about these BS "trucks." The fact that MY taxes offset your purchases furthers this point. I'll gladly keep my opinions to myself when folks like you pony up and pay the TRUE COSTS of these toys.
I don't get why people need to come to the channel Named 'TFL EV' to watch something they're not interested in or believe against. It seems like a total waste of time. Reading through just a dozen of these comments, most are against EVs. It seems like most people who comment, either don't understand the engineering and technical side of EVs and their specific use cases, scared of new or different things, or just enjoy the feeling of complaining. No EV trucks currently on the market are meant to compete with the HD gas/diesel trucks yet. Those are purpose designed trucks made for towing heavy loads with large fuel tanks meant for work. EV pickups are great for the 90% of half ton pickup uses, like going to work and the trip to the hardware store where having a box is necessary. Having over 400 miles of electric range is fantastic and will only get better in the future. Ford and Ram don't have a dedicated EV platform which seems to be a reason they can't compete with GM for battery pack size and efficiency. I'm glad there's some people who get what EVs are about!
I believe the truck is awesome if a decent level 2 EVSE is available overnight for charging. It is pricey but it is a luxury vehicle with lots of features, usability. I would buy a depreciated pre-owned one.
Does the Super Cruise display on the steering wheel affect the Heated Steering at the top of the wheel? My 2018 Ford Taurus has a wood trim piece at the top of the wheel that does not receive any of the heat. Only the bottom portion of the wheel does. It's not a huge deal, but a little annoying during Canadian winters when my hand position is usually at the top.
GM and the other manufacturers will be looking to recoup their investment losses on EV research and development within the next few years . This government mandated move to EV transportation will fail dramatically. IMO.
I am trying to understand how the Silverado EV with Extended Range battery is rated for 12,500lbs towing, but the Sierra EV with Extended Range batter is only rated for 10,500lbs towing.
The GMC probably has more fluff on it that makes it heavier than the Silverado. The higher tier the trim package the lower its' towing capability become because of the added extras.
200 miles is about the same range you would get towing 10k lbs with a gas truck. Its exactly what makes this truck a huge step forward. It matches ice truck range but outperforms ice trucks in every other category... except price😅
@ yep. I definitely imagined it. For sure, I’m not simply familiar with the coming lineup because I own the 2024 model and have been following the rollout since it was rolled out. Just me and my active imagination over here 🤡
This ev is proof that the end of ice for consumer vehicles is about 10 years away. This truck is equal or better to ice in every way. Price parity to ice should be achieved in 10 years or so. Then no one will buy new ice standard duty trucks. I just spent 5k overhauling my trucks exhaust to pass inspection. Would never need to do that on an ev. So yes i am salty today.
It's also worth mentioning those 6 states account for nearly half of all new car sales in the United States. Manufacturers build to CARB, not federal standards.
It's a weird strategy. I see tons of fleet customers around me with the cheap Lightnings and now some Silverado EV work trucks. Makes a lot of sense for local businesses. How many ultra premium EV trucks does the market need?
I believe the change is supposed in 2025. GM models are confusing so 2025 models made in 2024 with have ccs but 2025 models made in 2026 will have nacs
…why does it matter at this point. If you’re leasing this or only keeping for 4-5 years then almost every charger except superchargers you’ll come across for that entire time will be CCS. And if you have NACS the only chargers native to your port currently max out at 190 and usually derate to 125 or less after 10 minutes.
Adapters are cheap and add flexibility, CCS or NACS it's compatible with both and will charge better on CCS until Tesla catches up with 800v system on NACS.
I have the 2024 version and specifically wanted the CCS port. This truck charges very, very fast. I’ve drawn 380kw for substantial periods of time. NACS would just slow that down. Tesla chargers are fine for how common they are, but they’re slow. 250kw (which derates pretty quick on superchargers) just isn’t cutting it when so many CCS options have 350kw or 400kw chargers nearby.
Appreciate the review but I don't appreciate TFLEV pushing EV's that the average consumer cannot afford. You need to create a channel for viewers who are millionaires. I always give this channel a thumbs down when you push junk people can't afford!

Sunroof that large in northern Cali is way too hot these days. Need to install a permanent shade on it which defeats the purpose of a Sunroof. LoL

Just imagine when they have to replace those 24's every 6-10k mi. $$$$$$$$$$
@ recommended replacement is 25k miles, with rotation every 7,500 miles. I have 5k miles on mine and they look brand new. Any other false prophesies?
…it’s not cheaper, they just made the $10k battery optional then added $2500. An identical 2025 to a 2024 is therefore $2500 MORE.

Yeah the front end is weird looking. Looks better in black because it hides it. It looks like the headlights are covered with big plastic panels.
I thought 2025 models were going to have NACS? I was delaying my own purchase for that reason, I guess 2026?
