- You won’t believe these wild Inside Out 2 deleted emotions that Pixar recently shared! Disney and Pixar revealed some emotions and ideas that were cut from Inside Out 2 during production. There’s a bright yellow emotion with a mohawk and punk attire, likely representing Rebellion, which is a big part of being a teenager. A storm cloud emotion that seems to embody Depression, along with a frazzled green lady that might not be far off. Jealousy was a key emotion considered for Inside Out 2 but didn’t make the final cut. It’s one of the few nixed emotions with a proper label. Another design without a name feels like an alternate version of Jealousy or possibly Suspicion. Beyond emotions, concept art explored characters like a positive surfing dude, a happy old hippie, and a buff frat boy. Things got creepier with shadow monsters playing a key part at some point. This might have been an alternate version of a deep dark secret, appearing in the first 30 minutes of the film. A double-headed creation also explored what abstract thoughts are like as one grows up.

I think that the reason they didn't add jealousy is because of envy
Because Envy and Jealousy are the same but what if it depends on the person? Some people can have Jealousy while some (like Riley) have Envy.

But it might be a misinterpretation of what “teen age rebellion” actually is. It’s called rebellion by parents, but for the teen it’s not a purposeful attempt to oppose authority, but an attempt at the beginnings of independence and self discovery. This is when we form opinions on things (teens feel everything very strongly so they have strong opinions). They’re trying to pull away from being just the parent’s child and become full people and that can mean trying to become totally different from the parents.
They aren’t trying to make their parents upset or be a little asshole. They’re just learning what it is to be there own person.
Learning anything has its ups and downs

Jealousy is a mix of envy and anger so if those two emotions had control over the panel they wouldn't need a new emotion to show jealousy. Also the shadowy figures chasing them are depression.
Depression on its own isn't a emotion. I fact depression is technically a imbalance in the system usually caused by other emotions.
Anxiety is a real emotion as it can be measured but depression is almost like a shadow emotion where it's the absence of them.
Jealousy isn't envy and anger, envy can be and if anything is way more often accompanied by anger then jealousy is. Jealousy is literally envy but for people and creatures instead of objects and features.

Depression is not an emotion. I get why it was cut, because it isn't an emotion, it is a mental disorder.

Why would they add more emotions when really a lot of the extra emotions are really combinations of different emotions.
Jealousy is a combination of anger and envy, envy is probably the only new emotion that would have been a needed extra.
Suspicion is a combination of disgust and anger, anxiety is a combination of disgust and fear.
Fun fact:That green emotion is called Shame, and there was a deleted scene for Inside Out 2 that Shame was originally going to be an actual new emotion with Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Annui/Bordom.

My favorite design for the scrapped emotions is Shame, but not the one they showed in the video. They made multiple designs for Shame, but the one that isn’t shown here is my favorite.

The concepts for the surfer, hippie and frat boy are for an emotion called Awe
Those shadow creatures look like they're in some rocky area, which would most likely be the Back of Riley's Mind. Maybe they'd be "Inner Demons" formed from all those bad memories Joy sent there.
I'd assume they'd chase the First-Feeling Five back to the Belief System and crash into the lake and form beliefs the same way the orbs did in the final movie.

i kinda get why they didn't add rebellion, it's more of an output rather than an emotion, rebellion usually stems from two things, spite (which is under anger) or a lack of feeling like you are in control which doesn't really fit the design, either way, rebellion isn't really the emotion itself and more like what happens when certain emotions reach the tipping point
