A 549v8, there's a motor! Mine eventually ended up with a 454 Chev, I looked for over a year for an international motor to put in but their just not common in eastern Canada like they are in the USA.
Good luck with the restoration. There sure is plenty to keep you occupied. I reckon the curved panel lying on the cab floor is the bell housing bottom fly wheel cover. Love Inters, when I was a kid they were the most powerful trucks in my neighbourhood.
Thanks Dennis, it's been a long restoration already and I'm not as far along as I would like yet. Covid has delayed things by the better part of a year, but I hope to be on track again soon!

Nice find! Believe it or not, I have a 1955 R-180 that looks exactly like yours! Even has the BD-308 in it with the 5 speed transmission and the 2 speed rear and red paint. I have owned it since 1984. It start life as a Delaware County Indiana Highway Department truck, I have the original title for it as well as a current title. TheVIN is 25023 and is located just north of Delaware county. A high school friend saw the classified ad for $150 and we went in halves on it with the idea of repairing it and driving it to graduation latter that year! It had thrown the #1 connecting rod but surprisingly showed no signs of damage to the crank. We purchased a reconditioned rod, 2 push rods and a head gasket and put it back together. Then I joined the Army before we got it running, and to this day, I have never heard it run. It is currently stuck and so I filled the cylinders with diesel fuel. I don't think it is stuck bad, over the years when we would move it, we would put it in gear, dump the clutch and roll it over then one day it was stuck. Probably wiped the cylinders a little dry. Now my 2 sons are interested in it! If you are curious, I could share a few pictures with you.
I would love to see some photos! Mine last ran in the 80's as well, but that motor is long gone now. Hopefully you have more luck than I did! If you get around to working on it again I'd love to see a video of it sometime

That's awesome, D-15's are such classic looking trucks. There are a few Facebook groups that may help you find parts, I believe "IH Trader 2" is one I remember. Will you be uploading your progress too?

I filmed that about 8 months ago, and I'm glad to say that I have not found too many nasty surprises since then. It's a miracle that my 10 year old truck frame is getting bad already, but my 65 year old truck frame is still in good shape. Ah well, I know which truck I like better anyways!
That's a really nice, solid truck with great character. Love it. I especially like the extra large front fenders that are specific to the medium duty R series. I think you will have more room than I did to install power steering. I can't be much help with info because I didn't do the work. I can do a video detailing the steering work for you.

About the fenders, I had no idea they were different fenders for R-130's up to R-180's but I really like body line that runs through it. Too bad that my passenger side is too rusted out to save, the part where it connects to the grill has totally rotted off. It's harder then I thought to find body panels in Atlantic Canada, there are just so few of them up here that survived.
I wish I had the foresight to film mine when it arrived, it's such an exciting moment. I had only seen mine in the woods before I bought it, and I was surprised at how big it looked when it got in the driveway. Those tree's that had grown up around it did a lot to make it look smaller.
I would love to find a 3/4 ton for putting around in. This truck will be nice when it's done, but it will be too large to daily. I've been keeping my eye open for one like yours

"briefly" being the key word there I bet lol. I hoped mine would be okay, but I fully expected to have to replace it when I bought it so it wasn't a big deal. Just would have been nice to not have to is all
Close! It ended up being a Black Diamond 308, which I *think* is very similar to the super blues. I wish the block hadn't filled with water because I would have loved to keep it.
A neighbor gave my dad one just like this around 1987. He parked it in the yard for a couple years, but never did anything with it. I think he thought I might be interested in it. Not at age 20, I wasn't. He ended up selling it.

I thought it was for an emblem. I've seen other trucks where they just had a metal tablet with international written on it rather than a radio. Either way it's nice to have a rust free spot 😉
The piece missing from the center was an ash tray. The "vent" is actually a radio blanking plate. International didn't really change a lot on their trucks like many companies do. If it worked they didn't mess with it.
It really caught me off guard! That engine is gone now, and I never did find any oil in it. I think it had filled up with so much water over the years that it displaced all the lighter oil maybe?
Sorry for the useless answer here but... It depends. In my area, it's more or less impossible to do it legitimate. You almost have to find a frame with paperwork that matches your truck and go from there. Your DMV, or whatever fills that role in your area, can probably give you more info. In my case though I actually have the original ownership papers for that truck, it was always in that family so I got real lucky.
They guy I bought it from also paid to have it removed from the woods and shipped to me, so it was 1500 all in. I think he knew the guy who delivered it to me, so I doubt he paid much for that. If I had to have it delivered and removed myself though I would guess around $500 to $600.
I spent over a year on the prowl, never any international motors or trucks up for sale my way. Theres just very little for internationals in Atlantic Canada. It's getting a big block for now (because that's what I could find) but Im still keeping my eye out.
@@RustRehab a lot of the older ignition switches have a similar tumbler ass locking gas caps if the key fits in it will work. I have had many trucks that had a gas cap key for the ignition

Oil on bolts missing loose drain plug the guy probably knew it had a spin rod bearing I hope you do a teardown. Guess I'll have to watch the other videos to find out
I never had high hopes for this one, but at one point I purchased another engine for it and that one turned out to be bad too. I didn't know until I sent it off to be honed, but the block was cracked. I'm on my third engine now, and this one should go in. It's a nice big block chev

I had hoped to find some good parts in it to give away to someone who needed them, but it was just pure rust inside too. All I was able to save was the intake and manifold. They are free if you know someone who needs them!
I'll have to take a look at the spedo again, the papers for the truck don't show the mileage which is too bad. I figured the last digit digit was tenths, but I could be wrong for sure!

It's a '55, I have the papers and vin to verify. What made you think it may have been a' 54? Keep in mind that the R-130's and up don't have identicle bodies to the smaller pick up trucks

I own a 67 1200 4x4 3/4 ton international I love these old trucks

Looks like a super blue diamond. That’s and a blue diamond have the high mounted distributor

Someone was actually kind enough to send me an ash tray from one of their old projects, so that works out really well for me!

We both said what at the same time when the oil bolt was loose lol. I'd bet money it was going to be rusted shut.
