I have done a lot of 727 and 904 trans. It is worth the time to take out the valve body and see if the valves are gummed up from sitting. Easy to put in a shift kit at the same time. I have saved a lot of them with that trick.
I own 3 old IH's all with 345's. One was sitting since 74, one since 93, and one for 5 years. All 3 of them fired right up with a little fuel down the carb. Those engine are one of the most bullet proof gas engines ever put in a truck.
@@gerryroush8391 I totally agree. I hate seeing them with really any other engine other than an IH bred, but there's something about an ls that adds insult to injury.
I had a 74 200 4x4 for 23 years. It was a 392 4 speed and ran like a Swiss watch. It got 10 mpg all day long, loaded or not. It was solid as a rock and absolutely beat you to death. I would suggest replacing the transmission with a 4 speed OD unit for better mileage and lower rpm at highway speeds. If budget allows a fuel injection change over would make it modern daily driver. Keep up the good work.
If it's a 727 makes sure you check it in NEUTRAL with the engine running. It will show fuller in Park than it actually is because of how the fluid is routed from the pump in the park position.
Love those old Cornbinders. Engines that seemingly run forever (even though they won't pass anything including a gas station). 727 Torqueflites are the best automatic ever built. MoPar race cars from the '60's and '70's will attest to that. Looks like a winner for a shop truck that's just a little different.
I bought a 1968 1200C 4x4 that had been sitting in the woods for 30 years. It was an old fire department brush truck. Had 29K on the clock. 304 cubic inch that was stuck from sitting. Doused the cylinders with penetrating oil. Let sit for a week, then some more oil. Put 4 gallons of oil in, drained it. Then she broke free. Plugs , wires, rotor, cap , and points. Hooked up the boat tank and within a minute she was idling like a new truck! I really like those old trucks
allways amazed that those old trucks start and isnt total rustbuckets. And about the noise, did not mind it at all. really liked the sound of that chainsaw. made it sound real and genuine.
The original square body!!! My stepdad had a similar year International pickup, but it was gold and a half ton. I always liked that truck, probably because we owned it and also because it just wasn't as common as Chevy's and Ford's so you didn't see as many around. Can't wait to see how the build progresses.
Looks like you really lucked out on that deal. That cab interior looks like the upgraded deluxe version, which is possibly rare for a 3/4 ton pickup. Some exhaust work, some wiring, and rattle can paint on the bed to match the cab, y'all will have a good looking truck to send down the road
Awesome! Love to see an International build.! Everyone has done chevys and fords The 727 is a really simple transmission. You should have no problems building it yourself
Since that's a '69 it should have a Borg Warner automatic transmission,IH didn't start using 727 transmission until around '72 or '73, the '73 that I owned in the middle nineties had one of them
I have a 1975 IH 200 4x4 with a 345. Also has the 727 transmission. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m very much looking forward to watching this truck get built.
A great old truck. Looking forward to seeing what you folks do with it. My grandfather retired from IH, my older sisters were models in their truck ads back in the late ‘50s.
In the mid 70s I worked for a company that had Travelall with a 345 and a 1/2 ton with a 400. Both of them were powerful and long lasting but both of them were really thirsty, I mean really thirsty. I was working 100 miles away in about 1990 when I looked up to see the 1974, which the company had sold with over 100k on it in about 1980 going down the street. It had the shop logo on it still and although it had dents all over it I recognized it. That truck had torque that was phenomenal but it had two gas tanks for a reason
Love it. Since you are planning to keep it, fix the gearbox, light tint on those windows for hot days, slight paint refurb job with your logo on it. Nice exhaust and tidy up the suspension to make it a great work machine for moving things. Plus with your logo it will be a good example of your work as an advertisement :P
Would love to see you do a budget transmission rebuild. She reminds me of our old 64 studebaker champ. We loved that old truck. Now I want an old shop truck again.
I'm glad you showed the carb rebuild- wish you had showed just a little more of it because I just got my step-dad old ford truck and it needs a carb rebuild or replace so I found that part super informative 👍- i really enjoy the videos of these cars and trucks being brought back from the dead
Those old International engines are real beasts. Solid piece of 'Murican iron. Extra credit for the Marvel Mystery Oil pre-treatment on those cylinders.
Great to see you giving an ol' Cornbinder some love. Unless an aftermarket swap happened, which is certainly possible, that auto trans would be a Borg Warner 11. The Torqueflite was not a faktree deal in these Binders until the 1972 model year.
Always check the starter for being loose, most people don’t have the correct tools to tighten the starter correctly. I’ve found many loose starters that damage the flex plate and most of the time you can just take a file and knock the burrs off the teeth from a loose starter.
Now you're speaking my language, my uncle was an International dealer from the fifties up until August of 1969,my dad bought a brand new '68 1100 pickup from him and I myself had a couple of Internationals myself, one was my uncle's last truck,a '73 1110 and the other a '71 1210 four wheel drive ex fire department truck, they both had 345 engines in them.
As always love the vids Michael.. my pops had a 71 IH truck... this one reminds me of his. Really glad to see the work paying off for you. Stay the course!!
Great looking solid truck, it's good to see these old vehicles get a second chance to run another day. Good content, can't wait to see more on this truck keep safe and have fun from the UK
I remember a guy that bought one of these IH trucks back in 84. It needed a brake job and parts were not available any more then. I believe that they actually had to modify Chevy brakes to fit the truck.
Hey if u ever need to clean any thing engine wise is to put diesel fuel and trans fluid to make one cleaning mixture good for every thing to do with oil build up
That 345 runs like a sewing machine. Nice and quiet. May need some new valve seals though. not too hard to do if you've got the right tools. Looks like she puffs a little smoke on startup. As long as you ran it before the transmission test all the mystery oil that may have been left should have burnt off after the first minute or so of running it. VERY cool straight old truck. May want to toss some actual coolant in it, though as winter is almost on top of us.
I like videos where you work on a vehicle that you are keeping, I get sad when flipping time comes, but I understand that’s how you pay the bills, looking forward to seeing more of this boxy dinosaur!
My Late Dad Don and Uncle Bill had home farm plus rent one a 1968 International pick up 1300 series 1 ton with 345 V8 4bbl Holley 1000CFM carb had hand choke up dash knob, Power Steering plus Brakes to , D18 creeper manual transmission with Bow Low First gear 5 foward gears plus Reverse too on Floor shifter, West Coast mirrors on doors, plus 4 wheel drum brakes also 750/16.5 LT Load Range D Firestone tires on split rims to 8 studs type & 409 rear end gears and 10 leaf springs springs and same box as video truck has paint red ! But amazing truck also those trucks have 110 Torque & 80 to 95 horsepower plus haul well and perform well to ! Oil Filter changed is 8A small or 13A big Fram brand to they are for 345 V8 to choose from! That truck has 25 to 35 gallon fuel tank ! Also if put General Motors Delco Alternator use 1968 to 1985 year be ones to use with 70 to 100amp need !
Ah International time....very nice. Wondering when we were going to see this video. Great job getting it going!! As always awesome video and much love from Pickens buddy!
It sounds good? That motor sounds amazing!! I am sure you will find a budget friendly way to get that transmission back to like new condition. Looking forward to this series!!!
Cool truck and started too easy, if it started that easy with me I'd thought there was something wrong with it 😂🤣 but yeah cant wait to see more of it and the 347 stroker powered comet😁 I'm trying lol
In a perfect world, I'd win that swapped Intl. Scout, & trade you for the old school pickup - I've owned MoPars, GM, even a handful of Fords (Mistakes exc. for the '70 Van), so a real International would be fun. Guess I'll have to love it from afar. I hope you go for the home rebuild on the trans - if the case isn't porous or otherwise damaged, a kit should make it right as rain. Then you could take a look at the brakes - I think the RF one either drags or locks up before the other 3.
Well I am glad your keeping it and going to fix it up, and I would Name the truck Clint, it's tough like Eastwood and Square like his Jawline lol 😂 and it just looks like it don't take no Sh&$/ittt!!! And will out perform any old truck you got. Once you fix it. Please keep us updated on the build
the international pick up was the best pick up ever made they only quite making it due too not selling enough of them but that pick up did not break down after 10 years
My father left me a 1970 international harvester step side with a straight 6 and a 3 speed on the floor with a rusty bed floor. How do you fix that? Doesnt your f100 have the same issue?
you guys r great love all ur videos that i had seeing.by the way do you still have the f-150 rust looking truck i like that the most they all great n you have a good eyes for classic i own a 52 chevy style line great car 2 doors im working on it,anywayplease let me know if u still have the f-150 n with all ur respect,is it for sale?tks

Yep it really ticks me off when I see them replaced with a chchchevy Chevy chev Chevy Chevy engine
@@gerryroush8391 I totally agree. I hate seeing them with really any other engine other than an IH bred, but there's something about an ls that adds insult to injury.
Seeing and hearing that old International fire up was a beautiful moment.
Love IH. My dad had a junkyard in the 1980s and our tow trucks were a 72IH with a 345 and a 69IH with a 304. Cant wait to see the build. Subscribed.
I had a 74 200 4x4 for 23 years. It was a 392 4 speed and ran like a Swiss watch. It got 10 mpg all day long, loaded or not. It was solid as a rock and absolutely beat you to death. learned how to drive in one of these in the late 1960s as a little boy! A 1964 IH 3 speed on the floor! Have been a clutch man ever since. 11/03/20

Very cool. We don't get anything like this in the UK. You guys have all the fun. Don't worry about all the hatters on road noise. They're idiots. ❤️.
The original square body!!! My stepdad had a similar year International pickup, but it was gold and a half ton. I always liked that truck, probably because we owned it and also because it just wasn't as common as Chevy's and Ford's so you didn't see as many around. Can't wait to see how the build progresses.
What an awesome truck! It's so rare to see a vehicle that's been parked for decades, that actually wants to run.
Donated to Children's Hospital. Wish me luck. You guys are fun to watch!! (Including your pops cause we are old, older than him. Wink.)
Glad you’re keeping that old lady, can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Most honest channel on UA-cam!

Ahhhh yea your so right. I forgot about the BW, way back I had a 70 scout the BW auto,
Well maybe this pickup just needs a filter and band adjustment
I have a 1975 IH 200 4x4 with a 345. Also has the 727 transmission. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m very much looking forward to watching this truck get built.

Thanks Sy!
Had a 59 International Travel all, wish I still had it, would be a great project. Thanks for sharing, look forward to your build.

Try filling the oil filter as much as you can, an FL1 will hold almost a quart of oil. That last cam bearing will appreciate it...
Would love to see you do a budget transmission rebuild. She reminds me of our old 64 studebaker champ. We loved that old truck. Now I want an old shop truck again.
I like your commentary on the different projects and the fact you like old cars and trucks.

Pruitt's transmission shop in Anderson do an awesome job.
I bought my Dad a 69 International with a 304 V8 and 4 speed back in the 80's my brother fixed a dropped lifter and the thing ran for years
Props for not immediately doing a burnout once you got it running.. body looks to be in amazing shape. How's the frame?
As always love the vids Michael.. my pops had a 71 IH truck... this one reminds me of his. Really glad to see the work paying off for you. Stay the course!!
Sweet truck, need to see some transmission rebuilds on UA-cam, probably out there but I haven't seen too many gearheads taking them apart yet.
Great looking solid truck, it's good to see these old vehicles get a second chance to run another day. Good content, can't wait to see more on this truck keep safe and have fun from the UK
What a great truck. I’d love something like it, talk about character and personality.
Also love your Wolfsburg shirt 👍👍
I know nothing about International... but this is a good work you doing and sharing.
Next time you plan to take off Parts on the carburetor put down a white cloth makes it a lot easier to find stuff
Where did you go to get the information on the spark plugs...

Love the truck! I’ve got a 74 IH pickup with a 345. Looking forward to more vids 👍🏼
What a great truck! I would love to have one of those!
Awesome job getting it to run after 24 years! Keep it up!
First thing I do is trash all Holley carbs. A Carter from a Mopar or Rochester from GM are VAST improvements, and in the 2bbl, easy to find.
Working on the carburetor on the pavement is always good on the carburetor base!

Ive got my great grandpas 67 IH B1100 hasnt ran since around 85 slow process to get it back on the road

That was cool how the truck kicked in so easy well worth throwing a new gearbox in it man

Sweet truck. I hang out for your new vids. BTW the background noise isn't as bad as you think, the mic seems to pick up your voices fine!

Do they have extra mic's covering the freeway?
Starter and flywheel combo sounds fine send it!!! Lol
awesome video I like those trucks and International Scouts :) looking forward for more videos on this truck and the Porsche

Any plans on a video of the old econoline?
I’m excited for this one! That’s a beauty!
the international pick up was the best pick up ever made they only quite making it due too not selling enough of them but that pick up did not break down after 10 years
Could have at least added some zinc additive, if you want that cam to last long, also some 10w40 or something instead of the 30
put some magnets in the trans pan ,the big ones
My father left me a 1970 international harvester step side with a straight 6 and a 3 speed on the floor with a rusty bed floor. How do you fix that? Doesnt your f100 have the same issue?
I'm looking for a 74 Ford f150 with the 302 . I guess a 300 6 cylinder worl work to
Great International Longbed!👍

Did you keep that one or get rid of it that was a keeper.
Where are you and the IH located? when is the drawing for the raffle?
Nice truck. Being in Scotland it’s not one I know. Watching with interest
Cool truck, you just don’t see them anymore. Once you get the bugs worked out, it will be awesome.
