several years ago i found one of your videos and it absolutely saved one of my uni assignments. Now I've got a job in industry and stumbled across your videos once again in my time of need. thank you!
Fantastic! That's amazing! Congratulations on your gig 🎉🎉
Doing the uvs afterwards is no problem anymore since a couple of maya versions. Just do a projection from x, z or the camera (but no auto projection, then the uv's will be cutted in small patches) to the whole object. In the uv editor select all uv's: CTRL-U (unfold): done.
Thank you so much for these videos!! You explain everything so clearly and go at the perfect pace!
I am going to see all your tutorials you know i love watching them and your voice is beautiful ❤️
Thanks for the lesson! Especially for the newer version of Maya, I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything that has actually been made easier throughout the years so the 2020 update will be a massive relief, thanks again Monica!!
Thanks for sharing! I hope my videos help demystify Maya :)

Love your videos! Always so helpful, where do you get the lace texture btw?
I did everything you did, my cloth is not moving. I have reset my work space, shut down maya, my pc, re-opned everything, I am following what youre doing step by step but my flag is not moving.
really helpfull
Wow perfect 👍🏻💓
Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much for the tutorial! Question: Can you render out an animation with the lace material on it? I assigned it to the n cloth but it's not see-through.
Keep uploading stuff like this
More to come! :)
I follow all of the steps but when I play it the cloth is not following the movement of the cylinder to create the folds. Why is this?
THANK YOU!
You are so welcome!
Awesome.... Monica
Thank you so much! :) Glad you liked it!
You are the best 👍
Thank you!! :D
Thank you so much! Anyone knows why if I save my project with the animated cloth and I close the file, when I open the file again the animation doesn't work anymore?
thanks for the tut
No problem!
If I change the animation after applying the ncloth Maya tells me ( Warning: Nucleus evaluation skipped, frame change too large)…how can I avoid that warning?
how u shift slect the vertices with an object mode object?
Awesome. Greetings from Russia :)
Hello there! Thank you for watching!
Hello mam. I tried the cloth as cape for my character. I animated it to fly very fast but the cloth stretching. It is expanding. Plzz Help me😅
Wow so amazing
Thanks a lot! 😊
I find on UA-cam but I can't meet like this. Thank you so much.
Can I use in my animation video like this??
Hey, thanks for this tutorial, can i use the ncloth to model a bed cover, duvet or bedsheet?
Yes you can!
Hello Monica, thank you for the tutorial. When I create a plane and then create nCloth, the animation speed is too fast. I increase the number of frames but nothing changes. How can I create a slower animation just like the default speed in this tutorial?
Ok, try right clicking on your timeline and use playback speed>Play every frame - Max real time. That should do it :)
when I shift select the cylinder it transforms into vertex mode as well... how should I fix it?
I had this same problem (a year later) still don't know how to get it to work. The only work around I discovered is control clicking the object in the outliner.
If anyone knows how to do it normally I'd be grateful to hear it.
Awesome, easy! Now to rig a tall ship with sails. No thats not a joke.
Sounds awesome! Have fun Jeff!
Damn i wanted to make curtain for my scene n haven't touched dynamix.
Thanks for the help
You are so welcome Sarim :)
i cant do the part on 3.40. for some reason if i scale the bar down on the second keyframe, the bar also gets smaller on the first. basically i can only animate movement, not scale. does anyone know what i might be doing wrong?
I guess you are also using a newer Version? Im doing it with maya 2024 and i have the same problem, it just doesnt do anything. Tried other Tutorials that use older versions, but it never works. Did you figure it out?
💖💖👍
Thank you for watching! 💖
🙏🙏😘
How to texture opposite side of that cloth
Since it's a plane, it will render both sides. If you want a different texture in the other check out aiTwoSided. Pretty sweet! ua-cam.com/video/LBsHYPLZkd8/v-deo.html
The top of my cloth compresses fine, but the bottom of my cloth seems reluctant to follow. It leads to a narrower, bunched up top. And a wider, flatter bottom. Any tips?
it's too late i think but by increasing the gravity of your nucleus it should make the curtain moove more (i'm not a pro of physics within maya so i must be wrong :/)
Adding more subdivisions helped a bit for me. Just took the knife tool and threw few loop cuts here and there but would probably be better to add subdivisions in the beginning.
