Me and my best friend in school would always sing this song on trips. I remember he’d be Brent, I’d be Dave and we had to censor the swears or at least whisper them and at points, I’d do the acapella bits. Our walking back from McDonald’s on Friday became a whole frickin musical.
This song gives me my best memories and they’re not even about Zelda.

Revisiting this song after I’ve been thinking about it for days and forgetting to watch. I can’t believe this isn’t more popular. This is my absolute favorite thing Brent has made, and most of the time I absolutely love anything Brent does with Dave. This was beautifully written and composed and I can see all of the work that went into this. All of the editing, training, writing, blocking, everything is so beautifully done. It breaks my heart that he hasn’t posted something (or given an update if he is) like this since this song. I wish there were more people like Brent here online.

As someone in the "Ocarina is overrated but still a good game" camp, this was good to see. I do wish Brent would've actually finished the game before having this kind of argument, though.

It's a damn good Zelda game, but it's not like it's as orgasmicly great as so many people make it seem. People just have their 3 pairs of nostalgia goggles strapped on too tightly.
Exactly. As someone who came back to Ocarina about ten years after it's release, I will say that it is a thoroughly enjoyable game without nostalgia, just not best game ever material.

I started watching this today, and i thought my younger self was a little dingus for liking it, then the climax happened and i got more hyped than i like to admit
Early Internet (although this isn't really early, this was 2015) really internet culture before the Vine and Influencer invasion is very strange to go back to now... but being nostalgic for it is never a bad thing
Honestly this video is one of the best videos on UA-cam. Conveying two different sides of the argument and the issues with each. Brent and Dave both have good points, but they're burried by blander issues that don't take a presence. If you hack the camera in Oot you'll see that the 3d space is just a giant green room with the characters running around. The graphics you see in game are imposed onto the room.

I just found this a couple of weeks ago, and I gotta admit, I don't think I've gone a day without watching it since. Just so well done -- the lyrical banter between you and Dave is top notch, I've never seen an argument set so well to music, especially provided that the background a capella is so crisp and clean, and makes your voices pop out gorgeously! The blue notes are tactically positioned and the transitions between songs are seamless.
Probably my favorite work on your channel Brent, cheers to you and Dave both. This and Mario Land are my favorites, I hope to keep on hearing such awesome duets from you two in the future.

That's dumb though. The boomerang is a favorite item for many players, and the slingshot was a decent ranged attack until you got the bow. There's no reason to take items away like that.

The Boomerang was super underutilized in OoT. It was a super useful item in the previous entries (ESPECIALLY Link's Awakening), but in Ocarina, they give it to you for one dungeon and then immediately make it useless. Easily the worst example of a "One Dungeon Item" in the series. At least the GameCube and DS Zeldas treated it better.
