Basically me, two years in too. You had the right idea with the arm swing...it's just hard to jump through your arms without turning sideways. Big arm swing , locking up to your ears with a jump from your toes. If you do that, you should land safely as you were close to doing, your shoulders help carry you through
Not sure the helmet is of any help, as in case the neck is the one to protect (do stretching). After you flip, most easily hurt are feet, knees, hands and shoulders 🙂 Use a mat: there is no point in getting hurt before understanding the move... it will also create mental blocks because the body isn't stupid 🙂 This takes years to get right, not days :-) keep it up 🥰

Bro you are forgeting the most important step and it is tuck, you are doing it with a fully straight body, if you dont tuck you wont get that rotation correctly, ju jump high enough and you have lost the fear of going backwards, you just have to tuck and you got it, remember that for a backflip you need a goog tecnique
