This is one of the last series which had all the updates to teh engine and the six speed gearbox. The 2007 - 2009 are the only ones to buy due to all the upgrades they have. The engines are also the most reliable.
Just to add in my info! The 1990s cars (usually the turbo ones) and the 2001 - 2003 cars have commonly had gasket issues. The 2003 - 2006 cars seem to have cam shaft issues - which are now quite hard to resolve. The post 2007 cars have both the camshaft and gasket issues resolved.
The most reliable/ least complex Arnage is the 1999 model with the BMW engine! My retired Rolls Royce dealer tech told me I would be a "fool" to buy any other year! He worked at our RR dealership for 42 years!
I couldn't agree less - there's a reason the BMW cars are so much less desirable on the market, that engine was never suited to the car, it was like creating a gourmet meal with flavourless tinned ingredients. You might be able to make an arguement tge BMW engine was a more sensible choice - but that's also ridiculous because you don't buy a car like this to be sensible😂
@highlandmalt6368 You are ABSOLUTELY entitled to your opinion. I agree BMW is riddled with problems, BUT the 7 series engine in the Arnage is superior in reliability in comparison to the 2000+ Bentley/Rolls Royce engine! The 2000+ engines WILL have headgasket problems/cam issues! As noted, it is a Bentley design flaw! I trust my friend who worked on every Bentley/Rolls Royce for his 42 years at the Tolls Royce dealership! He absolutely no reason to be dishonest! He has worked on all my Rolls Royces/Bentleys for 35 of those 42 years. He NEVER was wrong!
@@richardgreene3460 Everyone has their opinion - there's plenty of similarly qualified and experienced technicians and mechanics who would take the opposite view...as I say, for me, a Bentley with that BMW engine is like buying a Savile Row suit, only to discover it contains polyester. As regards head gaskets, personally I've not heard of the problem afflicting post 90's cars - mine is a 96, and I had a failure, but it was put down to dodgy gaskets in the mid 90's following the move away from asbestos. Saying that, head gaskets failure was the only common problem the turbocharged L410 is known for other than that it's a super rock solid push rod V8. I'm told my new gaskets will not be subject to the same failure risk.
@highlandmalt6368 As noted prior, the known headgasket issue is with the 2000+ Arnage, not previous. I have had no problems with my 93 Spur and 97 Turbo R. The REAL Rolls Royces are those Crewe built!
@@richardgreene3460 I've never heard of the gasket issue being on 2000+ only mid 90's turbo charged cars - as I say, I experienced it with a 96 Cont R, I was expecting it, and it happened as I booted it onto the M6 from the M42 slip, I felt it go.
