It is 2020 and I still get goose bumps. Madison holding on against SAFP, Felix giving us the lead, knight holding off VCB, and Jeter flying home!!! MAGNIFICENT!!!!!
The most beautiful 4x100 m relay race I've ever seen. Carmelita Jeter pointing the clock with the baton will end up as an iconic moment in olympic history.
Yeah, that was probably some pine tar or the stickum football players would put on their jerseys. Funny if the ref went to take it from her and it was stuck to her hand when she opened it.
This race wouldn't have been won without Tianna, Tianna held her own against Pocket Rocket, The Goat Shelly. Felix was gonna do her thing and did, Bianca maintained, and Jeter was the FINISHER. The relay coaches was genius in picking this group.
Watched Jeter's interview... Paid a lot of props to Bianca Knight actually. In fact, as group lead, Jeter insisted that it be Bianca to hand to her because she could trust her. By the way I do agree Madison played a huge role. Allyson Felix was untouchable that season and was always going to do her thing. Jeter herself of course was not gonna be touched.
It honestly wasn't that hard to pick the team since Felix, Jeter and Madison were 100m finalists at those olympics. Tianna def was important but Felix leg gave them the big lead and had 2 super changeovers. This relay order was so perfect!
Tiana reeled Shelly in on the first leg, Allyson blew it open on the second leg, Bianca rode the curve, held off VCB, and Carmelita just burned rubber down the stretch. SPECIAL!!! CRUSHED THE WORLD RECORD 40.82 !!!
I watched this a million times. Rewatching, slow motion and regular. I love it when they break down world class sporting, it gives you even more details behind an extraordinary story!
yeah, they had the long jumper -- I expected this next, "Suzanne Cohen takes the second leg for the USA -- she's gotten so strong as a figure skater and won the gold in the winter Olympics, so she could be a real asset here today."
I watch this video about once a month. These women are incredible. Power, function, and if I dare say, a sexiness about them. They are truly incredible women whose talents are ageless.
Ummmm, no? There is no such thing as world records for relay splits, but Usain has clocked a 8.6 split. Bob "Bullet" Hayes ran an anchor leg under 9 seconds 55 year ago. It may have escaped your keen eye, but after the first leg the runners have a running start.
Izzard Clips you seriously missed the point. everything you said is OBVIOUS! the original comment meant that the time 9.7 would be close to world record in a men’s 100m race.
I really enjoyed watching this and I am so proud of these women and what they accomplished. It was SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!!!. With lots of love from NIGERIA!!!
It's funny that the baton drops in 2004 & 2008 both had one thing in common...Lauren Williams. I think she was the problem. I was honestly surprised they let her even run in 2012.
USA Women, I'm so Happy that you won this race, and not repeating what happened in 2004/08 and winning this in World Record Fashion, great job.. The Best in the World ♥️
IKR. WTH is he talking about. She ran the straight away as that is typically the longest part of the race and she has the experience and speed to get them where they need to go.
Simply SPECTACULAR. AMAZING PRECISION ON THE HANDOFFS AND THAT POINT TO THE WR AS CJ CROSSES THE LINE IS PROBABLY THE GREATEST MOMENT IN WOMENS TRACK EVER.
I guess it's worth mentioning that Dafne had just turned 20 and was still a full-time heptathlete. It's not like she was the sprinter she is now back then.
❤️ this 🇺🇸 quartet so immensely that this video is my all-time rewatchable😘Absolutely relish their stellar performance and moment of glory! Cool😎, this WR still stands today!👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉

2:34 Fantastic video showing the impressive speed and flawless execution of US team!!! All the four girls were just incredible! Allyson (9.77) run the first straight leg at about the same time as Jeter (9.70), which is quite extraordinary given she had to slow down for the additional baton handover.
And they did it without any performance enhancing drugs. Can the same thing be said about the record braking German team in those days? I really doubt it.
This race and the 4x100m in 1988 with Alice Brown,Sheila Echols,Florence Griffin Joyner, and Evelyn Ashford. Are my two favorite women 4x100m races ever.

What "bend" is he talking about. Allyson rand the "back stretch"! She always runs the 2nd leg. with exception of 2004 when she started. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
What " WOWW" me??...was the control Madison had on her body when she handed off to Felix!! She surprised Felix on how fast she got there. That's the point in the race that could have destroyed Team USA's gold and record.
Why does the narrator keep calling Allyson Felix’s leg a “bend”? It was a straightaway. The 2nd leg is the exact opposite of a bend. It’s the longest straightaway.
And to think they were almost disqualified in the heat stages ... Allyson Felix is one of the most decorated Track & Field Athlete/Olympian of all time!! Imo.. Iconic
Me too!
I think Carmelita had been watching the clock the whole last 50 meters.

@@supapsych191 I remember that race as well especially how Evelyn Ashford went turbo mode to beat the East German runner to win gold.

I remember Carmelita wiping her hands on her top. She didn't want to drop that baton. That was incredibly epic.

Bianca Knight hit that bend like a freight train with a rocket on its back!! This gives me chills every time I watch the race!
I’m a fan of the unorthodox method of passing the baton

That last slow motion pass from Knight to Jeter was chilling. Absolutely beautiful.
Shelly-Ann seems like such a sweet, pleasant person - always smiling and so gracious! Tiana and Felix put them ahead and they stayed ahead.
Even the Jamaican pass was great but the US women were totally focused and set to win the Gold
the craziest part about this record is that they only had 1 100m specialist in the relay.
..but three of the USA sprinters made the 100m final - all running under 10.9
