Carmelita Jeter’s form was one of the best under Flo Jo! She was running sooooo fast, it was like her feet barely touched the ground!!!! She was clocked at 9.9 for her anchor leg!!!! The first time I saw her run in the Penn Relays many years ago, I knew she was going to be something special!!!!!!

Sure did..amazing none the less...but she could have been DQ'd for show boating a little before the race was over....usually looked down on in track is my point.
Madison's first leg was insane. to run faster than Fraser-Pryce is already a feat, but to do it around the bend on the outside lane is just legendary. the commentator also deserves MAJOR props, he really made the viewing experience so memorable. that he observed Madison going faster than Fraser-Pryce, that he knew before Jeter finished it would be a special time and called the WR as it happened - he was on it.
It's amazing how clearly each runner's style differs from the other's. Felix and Jeter are two different machines entirely. Like a gazelle and a train. Both leave me in awe.
It was such a perfectly built team. Amazing starter and turn runner in the first leg, long strider with high top end speed for the longest leg, short strong stride for the quick curve, and finish with an all around great runner and 100m silver medalist. Not to mention 3 really good handoffs. Just incredible. This won't be broken for a long time.
@@philrichter3161 exactly!! I think about this all the time, how if you wanted to design runners for a 4x1 team, you’d get 4 runners exactly like these women. The timing for all of them to be in this sort of form, all different points of their careers, amazing. I agree- we won’t see this record touched for a while
Jeez! Can you all stop with the positive comments already?! I'm trying to get off this page and watch the next race, but I can't stop hitting the like button on them all!
I've watched a lot of track meets at different levels. This is by far the best relay race I have ever seen. The handoffs were textbook, and that's why the ladies were able to run so fast. As fast as the USA was, Jamaica and Ukraine also got around the track at a fast pace. That makes the USA's time even more jaw dropping. When Jeter got that last handoff, I mean it was like some rocket launchers came out of her shoes. She absolutely flew down that last 100. It was electrifying to watch it live, and still gives me goosebumps today!
Justin Cartwright That one was a bit different in that the USA were not exactly in the lead at the last hand over which in any case was not the best so Everlyn Ashford was disadvantaged in many ways but boy did she FLY , look for it and watch it, marvelous race it was. J Oluoch OMG! I just watched it. What a final leg!!! Ashford just got to the line first. Plain and simple - she ran everybody else down. That was amazing!
I love this. I get chills watching Felix blow everyone away down the back straight. And the passing was perfect. And then Jeter finishing like she is on fire ....wow
Felix may not have the best start, but once she is gone, no one wants any part of her!!! She may never qualify in the 100m (ehh again-ish), but she needs to always be a part of that 4x100! Knight and Madison own that turn also. USA will have some tough decisions to make for Rio, because we have got faster 100m open runners who are not fit for the relay, but how can they be denied the spot they have "earned" by doing better in the individual event?

December 2019 in the house. These Americans fly through that race...was sweet to see. Top off to the Jamaicans for an awesome job as well. BUT C.Jeter really Jeted through she was unstoppable. Bravo!
FOREVER coming back to watch this masterpiece! Madison gains ground on the first ... Felix !!CRUSHES!! the second... Knight held solid and had great baton exchanges at both ends... and Jeter... no words sufficient... not sure I've ever seen a leg run so smoothly with such speed. Have to watch this several times every time I come back.
Evelyn Ashford 88 Seoul Korea. She only had 1inch of the baton in her hand was in 3rd after exchange and ran down Super doped up east German and Russian world record holders. She ran the anchor of her life (honorable mention) Flo-Jo was 3 leg and was behind at the baton exchange!!!
This race s just so beautiful to watch, even two years later. The strength and talent of these ladies makes you proud they represented the USA, after some many struggles with relay teams previously!
I absolutely love how the Jamaican and USA teams embraced each other at the end! There's often too much negative publicity surrounding this professional rivalry. Major props to the Ukraine, though! They kept it together and held their own during an insanely competitive event.
I have watched this race about a hundred time now and I still get goosebumps. Such an amazing race! Massive respect to all the athletes. The USA team was simply impeccable here .
Jeter pointing out the world record always gets a tear out of my eye. This is what we strive for. We work hard and make sure our flag remains higher. 🇺🇸!!!
I'm a Jamaican fan, but even I have to admit, the Americans were superb. Jeter was absolutely flying. Well done ladies. Well deserved. It's difficult to hate excellence.
I have seen a lot of 4x100 meter relays in my time. I saw my first one in 1968. But this was the finest 4x100 meter relay I have ever seen. The execution was absolutely perfect. They lost no time at all on their passes. I thought the GDR "steroid" record would stand forever but their perfect execution enabled them to remove that phony record from the books, thank God. No one should ever forget this race. You will never see a better executed relay as long as you live.
I love how Jeter points to the clock b4 crossing the finish line. Such a boss move at the end of a magnificent run. She was amazing on that anchor leg.
Came back to this after watching the 4x4 in Tokyo. These women are incredible and Felix is just inspirational. This race makes me wish the Olympics happened more than every 4 years
Whenever I randomly crave a good dose of goosebumps this is my go to clip, seeing Jeter point at the time and react thereafter will always be my favourite sporting moment
I was sat in the stadium in the middle of the back straight that extraordinary evening and it remains one of the most exhilarating things I have ever seen in my nearly 52 years on this planet. To witness one of track and fields longest standing, seemingly untouchable, drug tainted world records not just beaten but absolutely obliterated was an absolute privilege and every time I watch a replay of this race I am taken back to the moment like it was yesterday. This was a victory for not just this wonderful USA team, but for the sport of athletics itself.
As a track star (100 years ago in school) watching these 4 beautiful American ladies with our flag at the hammer celebrating a WR. Just brings tears of joy and proudness. Thank you ladies, you’re the best in the world!🇺🇸
Sadly due to the conditions at Rio, there are simply twice as many spectators at the London final than the Rio one. Dare I say also, the London crowd was a bit more enthusiastic about the US in the race than in Rio, since the re-run and the home team was disqualified!
This race and the 1988 womens 4x100m race with Alice Brown,Sheila Echols,Florence Griffin, and Evelyn Ashford are my favorite two women 4x100m races ever.
I got to meet Jeter at her current place of employment yesterday and talk to and more importantly listen to her. She is an amazing woman. My GFs daughter will be lucky to get to learn from her and the rest of her staff.
Watching it over and over, it's amazing seeing Jeter's split is about 9.9 seconds and she slowed down about the last 10 meters, or so. Also, it looks like Jeter got out a little late while Knight was running up on her a little bit. The handoffs between Tianna and Allyson, as well as (the best), Allyson and Bianca were absolutely flawless!!! Crazy!
+stevie586 dude she pointed at the record and loss ANOTHER half second off the world record. That maneuver of just pointing and raising the arm and looking at that board I swear lost a half one hundredth or a full one hundredth more could have come off the record. But I'm not mad at that, woulda been nicer but I'm soooooo happy they busted that record up. And Alyson Felix, another power leg run. She's from another planet dude.
Official splits for USA and Jamaica are as follows>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tianna Bartoletta(11.12) vs (11.27)Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce... Allyson Felix(9.97) vs (10.32)Sherone Simpson... Bianca Knight(10.33) vs (10.23)Veronica Campbell-Brown... Carmelita Jeter(9.70) vs (9.96)Kerron Stewart
I know I'm 2 yrs late to this comment. But I was looking for some Bianca Knight comments and finally found it! As a fellow Mississippian I'm still so proud of her. Bianca is a yr older than me and in high school I actually had the privilege of seeing her race twice in person at the Mississippi State track meet. Never seen someone run with so much power grace and stride. She's still one of the best track athletes our state has seen. This race was such an iconic moment. I'm giving Bianca her flowers, she's a legend in my book💯
By the time that baton got to Jeter it was like trying to a bullet retrieval when the trigger is already pulled. The replay of her crossing the line with her baton pointed at the clock is to me one of the most epic moments in sports. Well done team USA.

Imagine someone writing "I love strong white women".....cringe for sure. These women were special Olympians in many ways the least of which is skin color which no one picks.

whos still watching 2019 to 2021, amazing (*+*)
Me I seen it 2012 when they broke the record. So as a former track and field aau jr. Olympic in 1994 I stay true to my roots track and field.
Me!!!
Johnathan Fagundes gave me chills as a kid in 2012, still gives me chills today
Me! What a stunning race!
Knight did more than hold solid, she ran 10.33 through the curve!
This is my favorite track race of all time. I watched this so many times!
Me too. I never get tired of watching it.😀
Yes!!! And the 4x400 also!
Watch the 1988 Olympic Women 4x100 with 1st Leg Alice Brown, 2nd Shelia Echols, 3rd FloJo and 4th Evelyn Ashford ----Go check it out!!!
same here
It’s the best race ever..I watched it thousand times.. Team USA was too strong 💪🏻
I still get chills watching Jeter point to the timer as she crosses the finish line.
These AMERICANS were running on AIR. So proud of our Women. Go USA!

This race s just so beautiful to watch, even two years later. The strength and talent of these ladies makes you proud they represented the USA, after some many struggles with relay teams previously!
Kantrice Dorsey love it
Kantrice Dorsey
Yes:)
Jeter has such an epic stride
Yes I live for it
I absolutely love hearing Allyson scream after she passes the baton to Knight.
I get goosebumps every time that part comes up
PERFECT HANDOFF
@@jmorgan780 Now if only they could hold a handoff seminar for the U.S. men.
It was almost like she was transferring energy the next athlete 😍
😢🤧 magnificent moment. I'll never forget this race
"This is special..... this is a world record!" I love that part
Love it!

2012 Olympics has got to be one of the best years ever!!!! They were setting records left to right!
I’ve watched this race a million times, and somehow always seem to come back to it. It’s pure beauty.
I never tire of watching this. Jeters run was breathtaking.
The starter for Trinidad just looked happy af to be there 😂 I feel ya girl
She is the common wealth games 100m champion
Ahye is ALWAYS smiling and buoyant when announced. It’s interesting to see everyone’s prep faces.
Oh yeah those are a force to be reckoned with
I have seen a lot of 4x100 meter relays in my time.
I always come back to this race, this was incredible
I just don't get tired of watching this incredible relay. The Americans were (are) just fantastic the whole way.
Am I the only one who likes this video over the men's 4x100? This is phenomenal to watch!
no you're not
I agree 100% Denise!
It shocked me 😂
+Denise Bacon i prefer many of the women's events to the men's.
+hocusfokusdotcom I enjoy the women's events as well!
Seven years after and I'm still here, gosh! Will I ever get over this race? Have watched it like a million times since.
This race is still one of my favorite Olympic moments. 🇺🇸🥇
Felix is a beast to dominate in all three short distances
No matter what you think Americans especially black Americans are the most talented athletes in the world. No denying that.
nope all black people
True. West Africans are the fastest sprinters in the world. Black Americans and Jamaicans are of West African origin.
Fastest sprinters doesn't mean best athletes. Although i don't necessarily disagree. But it isn't black and white.
Jamaicans and African Americans are both Hebrew
Platypus all blacks
I love how Jeter points to the clock b4 crossing the finish line. Such a boss move at the end of a magnificent run. She was amazing on that anchor leg.
Came back to this after watching the 4x4 in Tokyo. These women are incredible and Felix is just inspirational. This race makes me wish the Olympics happened more than every 4 years
I love watching Jeter point at the record on her way across. What a badass athlete.
Jeter is a BADASS
Jeter was GONNNE!!
Whenever I randomly crave a good dose of goosebumps this is my go to clip, seeing Jeter point at the time and react thereafter will always be my favourite sporting moment
This is one of the most exhilarating track races I've ever seen! And one of the greatest team performances in Olympic history.
I've been watching this race since 2012. The Americans put on a show on that day, and I don't think I will get tired of watching the highlight.
Nothing bests watching Allyson Felix runs. The form is just perfect!
Yeah! She really opened up the lead for them big time!!
Jeters feet weren't even touching the ground
E fit be true ooo....😀😀😂 dat lady leg was not touching d ground
Big factz like she was floating
She was flying
She was Jeting.
I remember this race like it was yesterday. THE highlight of these Olympic Games for me!
Ran like a JET 😆
Allyson Felix made this race on the back straight. She was immense
Yeeesss! She was insane running 🎽🏃
ALL DID THEIR JOB!! THE BEST SPRINTER'S TO EVER RUN THIS RACE!!
You could hear it in her scream
She ran the best leg in the women’s 4x400 relay too! If Sonia Ross Richardson had matched her pace we’d have destroyed that WR too.
@@csmith5420 *Sanya Richards-Ross
As a track star (100 years ago in school) watching these 4 beautiful American ladies with our flag at the hammer celebrating a WR. Just brings tears of joy and proudness. Thank you ladies, you’re the best in the world!🇺🇸
I still get chills to this day. Unbelievable.
This will ALWAYS be one of the best races I’ve seen in life.
My favorite USA win moment ever. I watched this dozens of times over the years. Absolutely perfect and Jeter pointing is unforgettable!!
London crowd was way more hype than Rio's tbh
Sadly due to the conditions at Rio, there are simply twice as many spectators at the London final than the Rio one. Dare I say also, the London crowd was a bit more enthusiastic about the US in the race than in Rio, since the re-run and the home team was disqualified!
No doubt about it! European crowds make you want to be the best you can be! I'm hyped!
@@mp4vids I believe this
Rio was boring.
London was great!!
6:48 Jeter looks fast in slow motion!! barely contacts the ground zero wasted upward bounce only forward momentum. perfect form
This race and the 1988 womens 4x100m race with Alice Brown,Sheila Echols,Florence Griffin, and Evelyn Ashford are my favorite two women 4x100m races ever.
exactly same here. Have watched both countless times, and i get goose bumps even now 2024
Every single woman in that US team were superb! They were literally flying with pinpoint baton changes
I love the commentator: "This is special! This is a world record!" haha! Love it!
This is officially my favorite moment in the Olympics ever
I got to meet Jeter at her current place of employment yesterday and talk to and more importantly listen to her. She is an amazing woman. My GFs daughter will be lucky to get to learn from her and the rest of her staff.
This Still gives me Goosebumps. I watch this from time to time. The Commentator is THE BEST!
Crazy!
+stevie586 9.7 to be exact (one of the fastest anchor splits ever ran by a female).
+Shamoi Richards isn't that friggin' insane?!?!?! Wow!
+Shamoi Richards I wonder what all of they're split were.
Official splits for USA and Jamaica are as follows>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Tianna Bartoletta(11.12) vs (11.27)Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce...
Allyson Felix(9.97) vs (10.32)Sherone Simpson...
Bianca Knight(10.33) vs (10.23)Veronica Campbell-Brown...
Carmelita Jeter(9.70) vs (9.96)Kerron Stewart
Bianca Knight absolutely tore the track up in that 3rd leg🔥⚡💯. Beautiful. One of the greatest moments in sports history.
With that kind of body mass.. absolutely incredible
she runs a mean bend
she did what she had to do. goddess!
@@laker4lyfe890 never too late. Appreciate that piece of Bianca history. Legendary
By the time that baton got to Jeter it was like trying to a bullet retrieval when the trigger is already pulled.
The replay of her crossing the line with her baton pointed at the clock is to me one of the most epic moments in sports.
Well done team USA.
I've watched this race countless times it's just out of this world these four sisters were all outstanding , but like so many others Jeter was traveling at warp 10 she looked like she wasn't even touching the ground but everytime i look at her pointing at the world record it just brings tears to my eyes such greatness go ahead my nubian queens
Wow! This USA win gave me goosebumps! Love the Olympic spirit!
Cool woman hi
