Allyson Felix, Sanya Richards-Ross, DeeDee Trotter and Francena McCorory win the gold medal for USA as they set a time of 3:16.87 in the women's 4x400m relay.
The event, which took place in the Olympic Stadium (11 August) saw the Russian Fed team take silver with the Jamaican team taking bronze.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

USA went straight BEAST MODE on that race. Those other teams didn't stand a chance against them. Dream team is right! Damn!!!!
L. Boogie Sandra on the USA team is Jamaican.

Bell Sean ain’t no Jamaicans on the U.S. team. They are not fast enough and lack talent. That is why they wear green and yellow and finish behind the Americans 6 seconds back. A bronze is a fantastic result for the girls from Montego Bay. 3rd place for that inferior talent is amazing!!!!!!
@@jonathanbachman2339 you're joking right?? Some of the fastest people on earth male and female are JAMAICAN. You're just salty
Allyson is the only American runner to have titles in the 100m, 200m & 400m at the National Championships. And that's outside of her World Championships and Olympic medals. I don't know if people really realize how special and rare she is. Already a legend at 28.
Mike Johnson could have done it but his form was too upright, it caused his dig and drive phase to almost be forced out too early. He would not have gained enough momentum quick enough to be able to run 9.8's. But had his form been not so up right he def could have done it.
There are men who have the capability but don't do so. Bolt could easily be a force in the 400 as well. Then there's Tyson gay, he runs 9. seconds in the 100, 19. seconds in the 200 and 44. In the 400. He could very well be a force also.
Chandra Cheeseborough did too, only about 15/20 years before Allyson Felix.
Willaw Entertainment Little Milton
Kenneth Coleman
True and no one believes Donovan Bailey truly was hurt when he pulled up lame in that 150m challenge race with Johnson.
That race was a cool idea...wish they did that every time the 100 & 200 have diff winners
Allyson flew around that track. She's incredible!!
She really did and she looked like she had a turbo around the track.
I know right!!
ThereGoesBryan
ThereGoesBryan she has a big stride
ThereGoesBryan I got to meet her one day she came to my college LSU (louisiana State University) she's so amazing😍🇺🇸
We need to give DEEDEE TROTTER more credit. Her lead was critical.
Definitely
Yes
She ran those girls down to give USA that lead.
Yes!
Dee Dee is te best leadoff runner we've seen, it was Dee Dee to Allyson - gameover
Allyson Felix won that race.Damn that woman brings heat!!!!!!
Randy Cable I think after she won the 200, that just took off all the pressure, and she ran free the rest of the Olympics.
For sure she was super confident in this relay. So fun to watch at the top of her game.
+Randy Cable She ran so smoothly it looked like you could sit a glass of water on her head without it spilling! lol
+Randy Cable ....Ally Fe is a bad girl. DeeDee Trotter set her up really nicely though!
Yea I agree +Randy Cable with you, Allyson WON THE RACE.
Their bodies omg
+Onjelie Linn Ya know - LOL. These ladies should bring back that old Perra Whatever her name was Burger King Commercial ----> WHERE'S THE BEEF ----> There's the beef because there ain't no fat on those bodies. Like Daaannngg
QTee *sprinting you cannot run a fast 400m doing distance running. Its years of weight training sprinting and peds
CoffeeLiciousLady rrrrrrwwww5vuii
@QTee long distance has nothing to do with sprinting
@QTee these women spend their time sprinting and weight training
Felix is the greatest women's track athlete of all time.
agreed. Just need her to win a few more titles and prove it.
Mr Nice Guy Shelly Ann what? Best over 100m? Sure...but Elaine might find a way to be better. However, the Greatest sprinter of all time...name one person more versatile and with more medals to prove it than Allyson Michelle Felix. Shelly isn't even close when it comes to versatility. And that's taking nothing from Shelly. But this isn't her place.
flo jo. 1988 Olympics.. look her up
Shelby Gilmore She was on steroids...
Plus, that was one Olympics; I'm talking about overall careers. No other woman can match Felix's versatility or resume. She is the most decorated woman in history.
I was gutted she didn't quite manage to win the 400 in Rio.
Allyson Felix is a monster. How you run the 400, the 200 (ind. gold), & the 100.
+SportsPeak73---ya know what I'm saying, ain't she though---Felix is a beast. Just think, the different practices she has to go through to compete in those 3/4/5 events. We talking different muscles usage, different strides and breathing techniques per stride, dang Allison. You bad you bad you bad ---- LOL
Felix was on WR pace here if Richards Ross had gone a little bit faster I think they could have gotten it.
Just going to point out than 100-200 running techniques aren't all the different, determining factors are usually dependent on the bend. Its by no way simple as that, but its not such a hard combination.
-Former Sprinter.
Alyson isn't that good on the 100m flo jo could do the 400m but she never made the final she was just in the relay.
brittany watts u can't really use flojo as a comparison. Besides 1988, when was flojo ever world class? Felix been doing it for 13 years at a world class level..
Allyson Felix never looks like she is running as fast as she is...smooth runner!
Me and my 12-year-old was trying to figure it. I wonder what is the secret.
I always think she looks like she is jogging very precisely. No wasted motion at all.
Surprises me all the time
The US women's track team have perfect bodies.
Jules B. How so?
Sooo... Making an observation on how fit someone looks is vain? Lol
Jayden Colon exactly!!! I am still waiting to hear why that comment was vain!!!!!????
realrunner2000 I guess. Lol
The Russian girls look like models running track. ..... V sexy
Everybody forgets about DeDe Trotter. She killed the first leg
Yes indeed. Crucial.
She was the goat here
Consistent runner since 2004
I like the way she was putting on more effort to run down all those girls
Been looking for this comment. It is not that easy pulling away especially being the first leg. She did incredible job.
This team is beautiful and wicked fast wow! That entire 2012 olympics was like USA dream team.
my
Allyson Felix does the 100, 200, 400, 4x1, AND the 4x4... Hell she might as well start doing the hurdles too because I'm pretty sure she'd be good at it!!
I agree Airyn, sure ya right? She's that gooodddd.
Just Air yes indeed!!
Right
and long jump
47.9?! Nobody does it as good, and nobody looks as good doing it. Allyson Felix, a true champion.
sanjursan right on!!
Soccer team women
You do know Sanya Richards Ross is fastest American 400 runner ever,
Rio opening Olympic game ceremony
only The GDR had faster splits than Felix, but their records are shady because it is suspected they were a drugs using nation which help them dominate Athletics back in that time
Felix ran a 47.9...WOW!!!
Yup. Sure did. I remember seeing the splits back then and thinking how INSANE that was. Ha.
You're starting i speed in relay, but still good!!
She is the greatest female athlete ever. 10.89 in 100m, 21.69 in 200m and now 49.26 in 400m! And I should say she has the most beautiful running style of all time hands down!
GeniusDolphin i would agree with "sprinter" ever. I don't know about "athlete" ever because I also follow the illustrious career of Serena Williams.
I am just so happy that young girls growing up have so many female athletes to look up to and admire and be inspired by. I remember when women athletes were quite rare and almost never seen in competition. Women's athletics has come so far in the last 60 years that it is hard to put in words. Thank God for Title IX and Billie Jean King. May women everywhere never ever forget her legacy!!!

I just realized that Felix has titles in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m. what an athlete! 👏🔥
Trotter did a monster first leg, then Felix relaxed and put on the gas, it was over after that! McCorey and RR made sure they did not drop the baton and ran great laps!

Well said!
Don’t sleep on Sonya Richards! She is a legend within her own right. I love her and Allyson - epitome of runners
Dunno how anyone sleeps on SRR. I believe she's the greatest female 400m sprinter the USA has seen.
@@milawy8115 Yeah. Sleeping on her never happened. NEVER.
@@milawy8115 I think Allyson is better than SRR.
@@PARTSUNKNOWN8 I love Allyson Felix. I believe she's the most versatile sprinter we've seen. But in terms of just 400m prowess...look again at SRR's resume. 💙
Sept 2022, RHOA SANYA, put some respect on my name,🤣🤣🌹🏆👀
the lead runner for the USA, DeeDee Trotter was a coach at a running camp I attended this summer. Amazingly talented, and an an even better story behind her success. So glad I even got to be in her presence.
Was just watching Allyson Felix win her 11th Olympic medal. That lady is a legend.
is it only me that feels nervous even through the screen
Yes.
I need to pee I’m so nervous 😬

Who still watching this incredible race in 2019?
smilley brown 🙋🏽♀️ 2020
I still watch her on UA-cam she is still the best.
I am in 2020
2021! I watch this video Atleast once every few months 😭😭😭
Heck...I'm watching in 2021
Allison Felix will never fail you. She delivers!
Deedee Trotter killed it on the first leg. She made up a 500m stagger on a runner two lanes outside her.
The USA is just unbeatable! Wow
Melanin is pumping greatness globally on every track and that's a Fact🏆
Donari I’m trying to figure out when he/she said anything about white people? Not once...
and?
Melanin yeah it is also good for slavery lol
Gisele Spencer you see the white Russian also beat a bunch of blacks right there. I say it is the US education that is also good
Allyson Felix is bae, track and field girls are winning
RIP opening Olympic game ceremony
❤️ Allyson Felix - she switched on her twincharger and vroomed away! So proud of the U.S. team! 👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳
47.9 for Allyson Felix! BEAST MODE!!!!!
0:48 raise your hand if youve ever felt personally victimized by regina george

OMG MEAN GIRLS YASSS
Kelsey N lol, why do you say that?
Trap Lord Nick l
Their bodies are unbelievably gorgeous just the sheer beauty of their strength and dedication. I am in awe and applaud how dedicated and passionate they all are.
I've seen this SO MANY times and I still get tense! I hope we see this again in Rio.
Me too, I've see a zillion times and cringe even though I know which Team won but mostly I'm in awe and want to be in awe as to how
Alison runs LIKE NO BODY's Business. It seems so effortless for her. Incredible. I'm already nervous for Rio.
CoffeeLiciousLady She's my fav but I just saw her and Sanya running at a meet a couple days ago. Not their best :( I'm so nervous now!
+KawaiiBirdie13 Felix just won the 400m at the USATF championships.
Omg! Don't say that! ((Nervous wreck))
You will see this again in Rio 2016 and Allyson Felix will run a powerful fourth leg..
Sanya Richards Ross is a gorgeous woman!
Yes she is. I love their bodies. Perfect.
💘 love her
0:48 one of the girls in the Nigerian team is called Regina George 😂

+Chloe Ramìrez-Alvarez and?
+ndspeedster you've obviously never seen mean girls fam
+Nick Perez mean girls fam? what is that
props to the announcer for doing a good job with all kinds of complicated last names
half of these view are probably from me tbh
Allyson 47.90... insanity 🐐🐐🐐
The sista Alyson Felix didn’t even look like she broke a sweat at all. Black women magic out there from all of them👍🏾🙌🏾✊🏾👋🏾
Sanya was hurt here but she ignored her pain and ran her fine self with all her heart and will to a great victory for self her team mates and her country. Olympic ideals at its finest
Felix ran a 47.9 and ran a few meters longer because of the cross over. One of her best races ever.
cross over makes it a bit shorter..that's why second leg coulc be run fastest in a 4*400 m relay.
no. crossover is longer for all other legs except lane 1 on the 2nd leg. Wariner ran 2nd leg for this reason.
quadbravo crossover becomes longer so that you could exaggerate Felix's contribution.....ok then....
jess g so you are saying, crossing over from lane 7 to lane 1 is the same distance as if Felix were in lane 1 the entire time? at 4:03 it sure seems longer.
It's taken into count while arranging starting points of the race in each lane. If not the best teams would have chosen lane 1 in relay races, right? but they do not! best teams chose lane 5-6, worst among the lot take 1-2...
The greatness of Felix. She's a role model for my daughter.
What an explosive sprint by Allyson Felix!!! I've watched this relay race a zillion times but it still thrills me time and again...
This was one of the most beautiful races of all times. These ladies showed the whole world how fantastic America's athletics are. They are just "Great" in all facets in life. Not only in sports but in everything there is that any nation could dominate. Thank God for what we as a people have done to have such a great multitude of talent to have put together!!!
"They are just "Great" in all facets in life." Too much masturbation is actually harmful, LOL...
Filix is the all time favourite!
Allyson Felix is a great icon of athletics..nobody will surpass her ever
The gap says it all
Awesome first leg by Dee Dee Trotter! When she gave the baton to Allyson Felix,l remember saying "game over"!
Allyson had such a beautiful stride. She never looked like she was going as fast as she does. Like she floats.
I miss Dee Dee Trotter so bad. One of the underrated female athletes in the US
I love coming back to watch greatness! 🇱🇷
This commentators ability to correctly pronounce everyone’s last names (even if it’s from memory) is incredible
those usa ladies got wheeeeels!!!! amazing!
One of my favorite races of the 2012 Olympics Allyson Felix ran a 47.9 2nd leg that's flying.
This is the umpteenth time I've watched the vid and am lovin'❤️ every second of this race! The 🇺🇸 quartet rocks!🥳🎊🎉
Felix has come a long way! A queen! A legend!
DeeDee Trotter is amazing! A great product out of DeKalb County, GA!🇺🇸🏃🏾♀️🥇
Deedee Trotter the beautiful young lady did a good job
Trotter went 50.50, Felix went 48.85, McCorory went 49.39, Richards-Ross went 49.07 and we've done it again in the dreaded lane 7.
felix's split is the only one incorrect; 48.85 would make their time a 3:17.87 i believe but her exact split was 47.91 which is hella impressive
@@kameroncoleman9293 actually the official times are : Trotter - 50.20 ; Felix- 48.20 and the rest remain the same.
It was the crossover she had to run extra meters
Alyson Felix Daaauuummmmm !!!!!!
What do you think of Allyson Felix now? LOL She dominated again.
Hey +Christian Evans, OMG she's a beast indeed oh I'm very happy for Allyson but I'm still upset for whatever reason (wink wink) she lost by hundredths of secs in the 200 and to see the person who won didn't even qualify for Rio 200 Finals. Allyson deserves all the notoriety that Bolt has accomplished. Meaning that Allyson is deserved of another Gold in that 200 in Rio. I'm just saying Christian, know what I mean? Your thoughts.
+CoffeeLiciousLady That woman straight cheated. I'm still semi-pissed about that. I have the picture saved in my phone. She was almost fully horizontal, pulling a freakin superman move to get across the finish line. I understand there's not a rule against it, per se, but that's because it was already understood that RUNNING requires you to be upright, not horizontal. They're going to make that illegal pretty soon. She definitely earned the Silver medal, but Allyson earned the gold.
Hey +Christian Evans, is it me or were there lots of "diving" going on in the track and field? LMAO Schiffers dove, the anchor leg on the mens relay team fell or dove, whatever. There was a lot of "Diving Competition" at the Rio Olympics and then there was "Diving at the finish line in track and field. at the Rio Olympic" Totally amusing.
+CoffeeLiciousLady Yes I did notice that. There was a lot more diving after Allyson got robbed. But the other runners didn't successfully dive until after they crossed the finish line. So they still lost.
Cant believe the Olympics are next year. Time flies

Dee Dee Trotter, the running beauty.
The American women were so incredible this year in almost every sport. Great job ladies.
Black Magic. Powerful piece of spectacular running by the USA team.
haha I get it since black people can't swim
@IMxYOURxDADDYI'm white but let's not start that as Simone Manuel has been smashing all our girls! Black girls are just dominant at any sport they do, it's genetics
@IMxYOURxDADDY media in the west under reports white successful athletes but pound for pound black girls will take over most sports, if numbers of entrants the same black girls totally will dominate
@IMxYOURxDADDY because U.S is white majority country lol, so that stats dosen't make any sense though!!!
Allyson and Sanya two of my fave track stars for sure
Perfect combination of DeeDee Trotter and Allyson Felix in the first and second running legs!
USA did it again in Rio, anchored by the great Allyson Felix (3:19:06)
Watching these all over again!!! :-) I love the Olympics!
Allyson Felix !!! Gorgeous, classy, & born to run. Wolfsky9
I can watch this over and over again and be inspired by Allyson Felix's stride, she is so focused and graceful in her running ability. All the ladies made it happen. USA!
Alyson felix is a smooth operator
Allyson Felix. My goodness. Does this woman have wings?! I don’t think I have ever seen a sprinter in my lifetime run with such fluidity. She is so smooth, so controlled, so intentional in her movement. Just a gorgeous stride. Not Sanya’s best race but same thing with her. Just a beautiful, rhythmical runner . What a fierce team
I've always been an Allyson Felix' fan. And to watch this again to see how special athlete she is....is just simply breathtaking!!!😊😊😊
Allyson Felix is so bloody fast in every distance she runs. Amazing athlete.
I watch this whenever I need to feel motivated.
Feels so proud watching this over and over and over.. sure USA💪
This Will always be one of my favorite Olympic wins!! ❤️💙🤞🏾
Came here to say that DeeDee Trotter's body is AMAZING! I remember thinking that when watching this race in 2012.
This one of my favorite team back in the day. Loved them girls.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Avid fan of USA.😊 I'm from the Philippines.❤
2021 and I’m still here. This never gets old!

6:56 A beautiful race from 4 beautiful women.
I think one of these women came to talk to my school at lunch when I was in junior high. I didnt realize how cool she was at the time, I just knew she was fast.
I've watched these about 10 times already but I'm hooked
As a former track and field runner. I have never seen a race of this magnitude. Brilliantly executed! So proud of the ladies! Dripping!
Thank you IOC for sharing your priceless moments of the games...

DEE DEE ran the lead off leg in the women's 4x400m in the Athens 2004 Olympics. Allyson Felix ran the second leg. Sanya ran the anchor leg. USA Gold!
It's really starting to be unfair the way FELIX always DUSTS her competition in any event! Like, who can beat her?
Well....um....funny you should ask that....

Phenomenal performance by Allyson Felix here.
Just watched this race in 2020 for the umpteenth time. Truly what an astounding team of great athletes and great women! Should be watched by every young aspiring runner.
Again, my favorite U.S. female teams. The 2012 track and field team was really awesome. Made me have flash backs to the Flo Jo days.
