This is probably my favorite video of yours. Nothing better than Roadside American attractions. Can't believe they let you take a video of it!!! This was amazing! Thank you!
Love this! When I was a kid, my family used to drive from SoCal to Georgia every couple years to see my grandparents. We used to see these other signs that said "What?", "Who?" "How?", etc (this was in the 60s). I am pretty sure I remember seeing "The Thing" signs too. Thanks for this awesome tour Justin!
My daughter and I went today and it seems it completely remodeled. It was so dark in there the hat looks like a cooking device. I didnt even see The Thing. I was so disappointed and now even more disappointed with how dark it was that we couldn't make out the real Thing. I love all these old artifacts in the video, the new set up is as if they took away all of what made it most interesting.
Great profile of our store! I appreciate the fun view of The Thing! Nice job! I hope you come back by sometime! Oh yeah, the thing is...(see what I did there), I'm the guys that designs them there billboards. Good to know they did their job! Thanks again!!!
I remember as a child in the 60's traveling through there and for miles and miles driving my Mother crazy wanting to see The Thing and was so disappointed that to this day I couldn't remember what it was (I was just thinking about it recently) now I know why I didn't remember. Thank you for bringing back one of my childhood memories.
Hey Justin Hello! Peter D here, of "The Peter D. files" LOL,.... BENSON ARIZONA! You missed it. "Benson Arizona" is a song in the movie "Dark Star" The film made at USC in 16 mm, was John Carpenter's film school project! Very funny, you should try to see it. Bumped up to 35mm with a few added "Professional" effects was released to theaters WHERE I first saw it working at the El Rey Theater in Walnut Creek, Ca as the Projectionist! pretty Neat. Dan Obanon is in it, who went on to wright "Alain". PD
Wow, this vlog gave me a huge flashback. I use to go to The Thing in the late 80's and early 90's religiously. Cant believe it still exist 👍🏼. Thank you so much for this bro!
First video of yours I've watched, at first I thought you were trying to be Adam a bit too much BUT your descriptions of the items on display at The Thing and making me proper LOL have got you a new sub.
I saw The Thing? in the late 90's when on a road trip for the military. I insisted to my two coworkers that we stop to check it out. I think I offered to pay their way. The Thing? is the only Thing I remember in the museum. I can't believe you were allowed to capture it on camera. The mystery is part of the draw.
That was hilarious bro thank you you save me at side trip always curious leaving Tucson 10 frwy.. 👋bye Thang Aka: A woman and child with her hat.... 🙃😏
The trunk at the foot of the bed in the hotel room display in the museum, my parents have that very same trunk in their bedroom. It is SUPER old. i recognized it by the designs in the top. ☺
Used to see those signs approaching Continental Divide, NM back in the ‘70s. It was located about 6 miles west of Thoreau, NM at a Stuckey’s travel stop. Same exact signs, about a dozen in either direction, same exact logo. It disappeared probably sometime around 1980. Were there two of them? Don’t know, don’t care .Never stopped there. Only heard of the Arizona one recently. I avoid tourist traps like the plague.
Justin, if you ever get up to Michigan you should check out Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, north of Detroit. I think it would be right up your alley.
I saw The Thing!!! Last year on my way to Tucson coming from western Oklahoma. I saw the signs for MILES and MILES!! The billboards are like every few feet it seems like, lol. along I 10 For a measly buck you just can't beat it!! Texas City AZ just across the border from NM. Check it out, it's cool!
When getting a new pet, its important that its compatible with any other in the household. I'm not sure if the new Chihuahua will get along with Julio. On the other hand, I'm not sure if anyone can get along with Julio. Julio is certainly getting cranky and dangerous . . . . OK, on second thought, if the Chihuahua bites Julio, I'll understand.
Here to report I visited The THING recently on a road trip from LA to Houston TX, unfortunately they raised the price from $1 to $20. So I never got to actually see The THING, but the gift shop was interesting.
if you haven't named your new traveling companion yet,may i suggest "chiquita" after the dog in the 1968 disney telefilm "pablo and the dancing chihuahua". it was a childhood favorite of mine from the wonderful world of disney, but is rarely seen. by coincidence,in the movie pablo and chiquita travel from mexico to tucson arizona looking for his uncle. so it must be destiny that brought you and your new furry pal together. safe home!
That museum is almost NEVER open! we lived there for almost a year and a half and I always wanted to go inside that museum but it was ALWAYS closed! My husband got a kick out of watching this though. He grew up near benson and has been to see the thing.
You just saved.me a dollar , as I grew up in az and saw the billboards /passed by the “attraction “ all my life traveling the I-10, despite sometimes wanting to check it out for novelty’s sake .
I live close to where you were- I wanted to go see you- but I also don't want to be that creepy either lol. But there are some other things you would like- there's a mine in Clifton/Morenci AZ, and as you drive through (don't blink) there's the original jail which is a cave. Also in Tombstone- the founders grave is out in the desert next to a bed and breakfast / ranch. I was watching you on Snapchat and IG. Either way- great job!
It has had an amazing redo recently, we are actually releasing a video on it tomorrow, you wont believe how much it has changed. You should check it out. I went in 2011 and my husband went last week and I was like woah!!!
Our new museum is open this Labor Day Weekend! We invite you to come check it out. Go to bowlinsthething.com to join our list for updates and a preview of the museum!
the billboards are the equivalent to clickbait but for tourists
Yes Justin, Hitler's car! Don't you remember? It was featured in the film "The Fast And The Führerious".
I appreciate your love and enthusiasm for history!!!
Loved this, Justin! You always brighten my day. And now that I know what "the thing" is, I can sleep well tonight :)
I just wonder about if anyone else thought
“who’s the random guy yelling”
“That must be ‘The Thing’ honey”
🤣 🤣
This is probably my favorite video of yours. Nothing better than Roadside American attractions. Can't believe they let you take a video of it!!! This was amazing! Thank you!
We'll get to Disney tomorrow. 1971 first trip to Disneyland...camping @ Orangeland!
13:34 Whoa! After viewing the Thing, Justin's face went all GREEN!

Always been meaning to tell you how awesome and well written your vlog descriptions are ..!!..this one was tops..!!
My daughter and I went today and it seems it completely remodeled. It was so dark in there the hat looks like a cooking device. I didnt even see The Thing. I was so disappointed and now even more disappointed with how dark it was that we couldn't make out the real Thing. I grew up in AZ and my mom and I have have been catching up on memories that you have covered....Happy tears!
I love your puppy, he is a yes dog and never argues with you...only agrees!
Okay, that was the best video yet. I love roadside oddities!
Great profile of our store! I appreciate the fun view of The Thing! Nice job! I hope you come back by sometime! Oh yeah, the thing is...(see what I did there), I'm the guys that designs them there billboards. Good to know they did their job! Thanks again!!!
i used to play shows with my band at the Benson city park, as well as the local high school while we were on tour. So awesome you stopped there!!
The “Thing” is really a Chinese mum and child who got lost, died and became mummies.
The hat is a dead giveaway
The Thing is, this video was great!
Than you!
Justin, you keep popping out winning videos. This was great. 👍👍👍😀. Definitely need a name for your new little friend........
I went there when I was about 10 years old on our way to California on vacation, I’m 48 years old now, incredible it’s still there!
Love it man keep it up man
Justin, you crack me up!
I remember as a kid in 1971 on a family road trip to Tucson and seeing all those billboards. I can't believe it is still there.
This was pure nostalgia for me. I grew up in Willcox (15 min from The Thing), so thank you for this schweet vid!
I'm only 5 minutes in & I'm enjoying this already. Btw I think you should name your little dash-doggie Benson. Hey, it works lol
Hey Justin Hello! Peter D here, of "The Peter D. files" LOL,.... BENSON ARIZONA! You missed it. I was there six years ago. and the "Thing Banner" was not up, I had no idea that was the thing.
There used to be a big sign on the wall before the banner, but that was 10 years ago.
Justin when are you going back to Disney or Knott's? Or here's an idea... universal studios!!!
Used to see those signs approaching Continental Divide, NM back in the ‘70s. It was located about 6 miles west of Thoreau, NM at a Stuckey’s travel stop. Very cool! Living in Hawaii we don't get to see stuff like this.
The Thing? It makes my heart sing, it makes everything groovy.
Justin, if you ever get up to Michigan you should check out Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, north of Detroit. I think it would be right up your alley.
me and my family went to the thing when we were moving from Granbury Texas to Gilbert Arizona
P. S. your videos always make me smile
I saw The Thing!!! Last year on my way to Tucson coming from western Oklahoma. I saw the signs for MILES and MILES!! if you haven't named your new traveling companion yet,may i suggest "chiquita" after the dog in the 1968 disney telefilm "pablo and the dancing chihuahua". it was a childhood favorite of mine from the wonderful world of disney, but is rarely seen. by coincidence,in the movie pablo and chiquita travel from mexico to tucson arizona looking for his uncle. so it must be destiny that brought you and your new furry pal together. safe home!

Call him "Jes" cuz he is always saying Jes by nodding ..... 😜
Bobble Head Chihuahua - Bobberly? Well, he is not a cigar store Indian... but he does need a cool name, and you choose the best!
